This is arguably my favorite anime ever, and it really hits different to see you appreciate all the things about it that I do. The music Is incredible, and the way they time it all is impeccable. The inner dialogue the characters have with themselves, timed with the music, is just perfection. It really takes you on an emotional roller coaster. And, to be honest, this is one anime I much prefer the english dub. For me, the emotion goes up another level. Worth a re-watch some time

I was one of the people who recommended this a couple of months back, and this child abuse was the one thing that gave me pause. I'm glad you two have pushed through it; I'm really liking these reactions. I hope this comment doesn't qualify as a "setting expectations" type spoiler and it's just my take anyways, but I feel pretty confident that there is a lot to come that you two will appreciate. Watching a few dozen people see the mom hit him like that and do nothing will make me a little nauseous every time though.

2024-01-15 06:51:50 +0000 UTCOkay so there is one thing I can see to talk about that isn't a spoiler, and that's Emi rejecting Kousei. The exact nature of Emi's feelings for him are... Complicated and up to you to figure out. But he is one of the most important people in her life despite them barely meeting. When they were both very young, Kousei played that for the first time and she saw it and it was amazing. Kousei then played his little kid heart out and it made the notes sing and made her think of sunflowers and in a way, she fell in love with those notes. She changed her entire life around so that she could do what he did. But also, she wants to hear it again. But then when she gets good enough to run into him in competitions, Kousei has transitioned into his Human Metronome form. His mother's abuse has escalated, and his little boy mind thinks winning is what's gonna help her get better so he puts up with it. THAT is the Kousei she rejects. She was rejecting the Human Metronome. She wants the original Kousei back, she wants to hear those notes, to see the sunflowers again.

2024-01-14 17:04:58 +0000 UTCemis performance is probably one of my favorites. i love that all the characters in this show are so different from one another, they cross paths only in certain moments, the ones where we get a poetic dialogue haha but, the way they portray that uniqueness through the performances, leaves me in awe every time. agreed ange, the use of the word "resonance" for ep 9 was beautiful through out many details!
