You really have to stay on your toes and read into all the similies/metaphors with this show. The detail is awesome! That knife Subaru has is NOT for defence or escape, and there's zero chance of him getting back to help the mansion from that far away. Subaru has been in this world now for 21 days and as this is now the last time I'll mention it for a while. I'll just say it now. He was summoned from Earth to Lugunica at night in front of a konbini on his own.
