2023-11-30 21:32:56 +0000 UTCYepp, this is something that confuses a lot of people. It took me a while to get that part. Edit to make it clearer: first time he woke up in the mansion in episode 4 was after the ordeal with Elsa: he got cut, Emilia healed him and brought him to the mansion while he was unconscious. Waking up for the first time (probably sometime in the morning) - Rem and Ram weren't there, he was alone in the room, exited and noticed the looping hallway -> entered the room finding Beatrice (Betty) inside, whereupon she drained his mana and he fell unconscious again. AFTER THAT he woke up for the second time in the middle of the day or at least a couple of hours later as referenced by Betty - and he meets Rem and Ram for the first time. The second time waking up also makes for his new checkpoint.

2023-11-29 18:05:02 +0000 UTCIt was a little confusing, but the reason Beatrice remembered him was because his death checkpoint went back to when he woke up originally for the second time in the mansion (after Beatrice drained his mana) rather than the first time.

2023-11-29 18:03:24 +0000 UTCAs I said on the short version, it's brilliant how ReZero shows the same events just from slightly different perspectives. This route had Rem and Ram search for Subaru after he ran off, it was part of the reason why they couldn't do a clothes fitting in this episode and part of the reason why everyone was a little put off by him this time. For time loop stories, Tappei has been insanely accurate on time placement and location of people at each loop, it's one of a very rare few stories with this mechanic that does it so well.

It is more obvious in the novels as it is cranked up, but he constantly cringes at the things he says sometimes, and a lot of the verbal abuse he receives from Betty/Rem/Ram and even Emilia (moreso in the Novels.) is often earned.
