Wish we waited until next week to watch this one...but KAGEYAMA IS BUILT DIFFERENT!

Episode 23

just to put things into perspective, you only get to continue to serve as long as you score points off of that, once your sever is dug out or you miss you're off the court immediately no second chances. which is why i think yamaguchi did better than you'd think for his first ever pinch serve imo

greyxwaren

I'm not giving all the credit to Kageyama though. Most of the people in the comments seem to be taking what he does for granted. I'm just saying that at least have an equal contribution in their freak quick. As much energy as Hinata spends running around on the court, it takes just as much mental fortitude and concentration on Kageyama's part to set it up for him time and time again. If anything I'm giving them equal credit for the quick and giving Kageyama extra credit for all the things he does apart from that. Apart from that Kageyama, despite being the setter blocks better than Hinata, has a really good serve (while Hinata when he does get the ball over the net has a really weak serve) and plays the whole match without subbing which is more taxing. He was also reading Oikawa throughout the game and making impressive plays with or without the aid of Hinata. Meanwhile, mostly everything impressive Hinata did had Kageyama aiding him. Yes, Karasuno would have lost to Date Tech without Hinata. What exactly is your point? They would have lost with Hinata if Kageyama wasn't playing too. Do you honestly think that Hinata would be in starting lineup in the match against Date Tech without Kageyama? Also, all I stated was my opinion that I agree with them about Kageyama being the MVP for the match and gave the reasons why. What makes me a Kageyama fanboy exactly? If anything it is you guys who are being the fanboys.

Preetam Ozarde

Kageyama is spectacular, no doubt. But in this episode Hinata was the clear MVP :D

Meg

Also the scene where Kageyama almost gives the ball to Hinata, Kageyama basically said, "Hinata is such a good decoy thay even *I* almost set to him thinking that's where the ball was supposed to go even though I had planned to set it to Asahi" Giving all the credit to Kageyama is a bit silly.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Yes. Kageyama is great, but to take all credit away from Hinata is just fanboy territory. Kageyama's fast setting literally got him benched in Jr. High, and without Hinata's speed, athleticism, and willingness to be used the way he is by the team, the fast setting wouldn't work in high school. Kurasuno would've lost to Date Tech. To say there is no Hinata without Kageyama is false when Kurasuno literally would be at home by this point without Hinata.

Mten10th

I might be the only guy in the comments that agrees with you about Kageyama being the MVP. People keep talking about Hinata's decoy abilities but seem to forget that no other setter can do what Kageyama does and get him the ball that fast and with that precision. The skill and concentration that takes is other worldly and people just take it for granted that he is able to do that consistently again and again. At this point Hinata has almost no skill. He misses half his serves, can't receive or block properly. All he's doing is jumping and closing his eyes while Kageyama sets everything up for him. No other setter we've met can do what Kageyama does. Would Hinata even be starting in Karasuno or any other team for that matter if not for Kageyama? At this point Hinata is only as good as how Kageyama makes him seem. People who are talking about Hinata's energy also seem to forget that Hinata only plays in half the game. He gets rotated out immediately after reaching the backline and doesn't affect the game half of the time. Meanwhile, players like Kageyama (with the exception of this match when he was subbed for a while), Asahi, Tanaka, Daichi all play the full game. Speaking of this match in particular, Kageyama was going head to head with the best setter in his prefecture, two years senior to him, someone he idolized and didn't know he could beat and did incredibly well. He was the reason they got back in the game in the second set and again without him there is no Hinata. He was reading Oikawa's movements and making impressive play after play. So yeah he's the MVP for me.

Preetam Ozarde

Hinata is MVP for me. - Even though Oikawa called him "the little sucky guy" he also said he always gets uneasy when Hinata rotates to the front row. Oikawa also called Hinatas broad cross "God like", so even though he doesn't necessarily respect him, he knows Hinata is a problem - When you hear the guys from the stands talk about how tiring it was and that they sometimes wished someone else would spike or block, you see a tired Hinata but he's smiling, wanting the ball and calling for it - He got quite a few points with his broad cross, he scored a point when he saved Tanakas receive (face planting while doing it lol) and the other spikers were able to score thanks to him being the decoy - He is such an amazing decoy that Kageyama felt almost compelled to give him the ball, even though he knew Asahi was the right choice at that time - And the last point, Hinata was in the air, ready and waiting for Kageyama to give him the toss "If we fall, fall forward!" I love that line. Nishinoya gave Hinata quite a run for his money with this line alone for me lol

Mimi

For me Hinata was the clear MVP, he was the ultimate decoy, to the point where even kageyama was going to toss the ball to him knowing that it was better to toss Asahi, also the moment where he smashed his face trying to get the ball, my respects

Edmon

I think MVP goes to Hinata this episode for his intense decoy abilities, allowing Karasuno to score multiple points, as well as himself scoring multiple points, using the broad attack that flustered the other team, the save receive that scored a point and the matchpoint, which even surprised Kagayama, because it wasn’t a planned set. His attacks forced Oikawa’s coach to call a time out and the opponents really did not want Hinata on the front line because he was changing the momentum of the game.

Cheyenne Castro

Yeah it’s a vital scene imo

Raul Velazquez

I mentioned this last video, you have to reach 25 and be leading by two points. So since they’re both at 24 now whoever gets a two point lead first wins.

Raul Velazquez

The MVP system works so well w/ a sports anime. I loved the discussions at the end.

angelalala

This is like my third comment on this same video, but I'd say that my MVP either goes to Noya(specifically because it was pointed out by the other team that Noya was playing better defensively) or to Watari, Aoba Josai's Libero. He was in the zone and stopping attack after attack. Definitely an underrated player.

Smash Bran'Discootch

I love love how both ange and carlie gets so passionate and invested in our boys but still manages to appreciates the plays and personality of the other teams almost instantaneously!! (Albeit reluctantly sometimes 😂) ik ppl can get askewed opinions during the high tension games especially if ur passionate so i rly appreciate this from you guys, it makes it much more enjoyable for impatient watchers like me :)))

hallie

I feel the same way as a lot of people in the comments. Hinata was the clear MVP for me in this episode. He's the only one that can actually make Kageyama second guess himself.

Hasy Arco

Remember volleyball is win by 2, so 24-24 means the next team to score 2 consecutive points will win. It's never sudden death. For example, in the Volleyball Nations League tournament this year, the match between the USA and Argentina went to a score of 43-41 in the 4th set! Was absolutely insane.

Josh Knoebel

guys i hope you don't miss the after credit scene on ep 24!

Jjj.

Probably the hardest MVP so far as everyone played their asses off. I'd probably lean towards Aoba Johsai's libero (Watari). He countered Hinata's quick and showcased the first back of the line Libero set. Also had a couple ridiculous digs throughout. Hard to give MVP to other team but Watari stood out from a single player performance more than any of the boys. But never gonna complain about the bald man getting MVP!

EyePStanding

Any server loses jis turn if the other tesm scores. If Karasuno got a poont on his first serve he would have served again

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

I'm not sure if anyone explained the symbolism for the hand reaching for the jersey but it was mainly how karusuno was trying to catch up and surpass the other team such as when sejioh scored the white jersey went further ahead and when karusuno scored the hand was closer to the white jersey. So when the hand finally made contact with the white jersey it symbolized karusuno had caught up to sejoh and the score was tied.

paladar blade

I was just about to say this. Completely agree. It's not pushing, it's grasping.

Alex Wilson

I have to agree with a lot of people in the comments. Hinata clearly put so much effort in this game. While it is Kageyama who had a good moment, you should remember the fact, that even he admited, that he was about to toss to Hinata when he KNEW it was best to do a middle attack to Asahi. That in my eyes speaks for how good Hinata did his job in this episode and deserves the MVP.

Heru

My MVP is Hinata. Seijou seemed troubled by him in this episode more than any other Karasuno player. He was the most dangerous element in Karasuno in this set. Even the points of Tanaka and Asahi were partly because of Hinata being the ultimate decoy. Kageyama, Tanaka, and Noya are all good shots as well, but Hinata edges it for me :)

Aizensalami

Hinata (MVP for me) was the ultimate decoy and was clutch with his energy throughout. When Hinata shines its hard for anyone to take his spotlight and Noya is my Karasuno favourite character

NathanP

For me Hinata was the MVP, and he is not even my favorite character.was shocked that you took him out first😭😭😭

𝒦𝓊𝓂𝒾

Oooohhh okay, yeah you're right now that I think about it. Probably got caught up in the excitement :D

Smash Bran'Discootch

while they do post 3 episodes sometimes, i think its fine to just do 2 here. Its a season end and everyone else had to wait the year until the next season so them having to just wait a few days until their next recording isnt that big of a deal. There are multi episode matches that would be more worth watching all at once than this part.

Fumi フミ

Oh wow I didn't know that! Thanks for the correction ^_^

Smash Bran'Discootch

its pretty funny, they definitely know about deuce points because theyve tracked it before in previous games/episodes but just totally forgot about it for this game

Fumi フミ

OVA OF THE ARRIVAL OF HAIBA LEV BEFORE S2 ... please

bebe

Hinata has to be the MVP! He makes the team use 120% of their abilities!! But I guess its Kageyama who brings the best out of Hinata..

SanteRip

MVP has to be Tanaka for this one.

Siba Zitumane

Lines and straight shots are used synonymously depending on the world region and translation.

K_How

Ange " my boy stepped over a dandelion, that's a moment!!" LOL love the tanaka appreciation 😅

Callum

You can’t touch the ball when it’s 100% across the net. But if any part of the ball is above the net, both teams can access the ball

K_How

I don't know you're filming schedule but I'd recommend watching the last two episodes of season 1 in the same sitting as the first episode of season 2

Jordan Mills

So a couple of things about volleyball: -In order to win a set, you have to win by at least 2 points. So when both teams reach match point at the same time, it's referred to as a Deuce and then goes past the 25 points. So if each side keeps only scoring one point at a time, the set continues until one team is ahead by 2 points. -When they were talking about Hinata's cross, they were referring to his shot that cuts diagonally across the court. A straight is as it sounds, the ball being shot straight ahead. A "line shot" is whenever someone spikes a straight right along the out of bounds line. -When Oikawa and Kageyama stole the ball from one another, each time The ball hadn't quite crossed the net and was still in each respective player's court, if only just barely.

Smash Bran'Discootch

You could… just keep going now

K_How

I think the symbolism of the hand grabbing the Seijoh player's back is about how Karasuno is trying desperately to catch up to them in skill/teamwork. There was a point when they were trying to grab Seijoh's back and the hand missed when they lost the point, but at the end when they were able to secure the match point the hand grabs the Seijoh player's back representing that Karasuno has grasped a chance at victory and in a sense caught up to Seijoh.

HyperionMist

PLEASE END THE SEASONNNN

falconnn

Oh! Also the after credits scene is a thing for episode 24!!

Smash Bran'Discootch

Lets go! perfect timing again

Siba Zitumane

That cliffhanger is a killer 🤣
