While Ho might not have been mentioned in the last episode, take a look at the very last image of the show. It’s a picture of traveling Edward and you can see the resemblance.

2023-09-24 20:00:54 +0000 UTCWhen Alex thanked Hohenheim, I think he was actually relieved. He just had a flashback about being in prison/about wanting to be free. And he's always considered himself still imprisoned after all theyears. But after hearing about his boys' achievements, I think he was able to feel like he still lived a life worth living because his "freedom" was what enabled him to have great sons and he was reminded that he had them with someone he loves.

Since Pinako is in the picture, someone else must have taken the photo. It's likely Ed or Al because it would be weird to set up Hohenheim's grave without informing the brothers.

2023-09-08 08:37:24 +0000 UTCAnge is absolutely correct that they handled it a bit differently in the manga. Hohenheim gets a nice 3 page sendoff including a reunion with Trisha. The only thing is that I think they felt like that would be too "supernatural" for the animation, so they kept it as the intimate moment at the gravesite.

If you haven't watched them yet, please consider adding Avatar The Last Airbender and Dororo for future polls. They're relatively short, and the structure of these series are similar to FMAB. The world building is expertly established, great pacing, and they each progress with their endings in mind.

I watch this show in high school and still after 10 years, still give me goosebumps and all of the feels. Really2 great show.

2023-09-07 22:04:29 +0000 UTCAl the GOAT tour finally finished. The English voice actor for Ed said once that the main theme of the show is sacrifice, and boy did Al exemplify it in 62. As for Hohenheim, I see his finally message as - this is enough. He always felt cursed with his immortal body, and at the final moment when he was free from his curse and able to reunite with Trisha again, he has finally gained what he wanted, even enough to want to continue living, but I think he truly just wanted to be with Trisha. Really sad it's over but happy to have gone through this journey with you two. The reactions were great!

I kinda had forgotten how this last fight went exactly. TBH just throw shit to Father until he runs out of energy was a little underwhelming end to it for me even if it makes sense but I prefer when there's more strategy involved than that. They more than made up for it with the conclusions to the character arcs and their last epic moments though. Remains one of the greatest anime of all time.

Watching you guys wrapped up a long series is so satisfying, thank you for the reaction! P.S. Oh and I think you guys might have missed it, there was a very tiny mention of Ho in the end credit, there was a photo showing he was buried next to Trisha, and maybe because like you said it was meant to be a feel-good episode, they dedicated the whole ED to him in ep63 rather than putting him in the last ep.

My favorite characters were constantly changing every 10 episodes that I completely gave up listing out a top 5 🤣 but I think both your lists are on point. Bittersweet moment that this show has come to an end.
