Sugar Cookie Jazz - Backgrounds

You may or may not have heard that I'm currently working as the creative director on an upcoming show that will be releasing this Fall code-named "Sugar Cookie Jazz"! (Real title to be revealed at San Japan on the 30th).
Here are some of the painted backgrounds we commissioned for the show! The first four episodes take place inside a museum after dark. Normal museums are pitch black at night aside from some safety lights and exit signs, but that's boring so we decided to make them weirdly blue and ethereal.

Very impressive use of lighting, reminds me a little of how Aaron Douglas used solid geometric shapes for his beams of light. It's a effective way to direct the eye.
