Tall marble staircases, ornate pillars, and a golden-brass statue all welcome worshippers and travelers to the Maheshwari Mandir, which roughly translates to "Temple of the Great One." Sacrifices and prayers are both offered in this holy dwelling-place of the gods, and many pilgrims travel far and wide to seek their blessings.
Welcome to another map pack! This one is very close to home and was inspired by my trip to India last summer. For those who don't know, I am of Indian origin and I visited temples like these throughout my childhood. When I went back to India as an adult and got the chance to view the ancient and grand architecture with my own eyes, I was amazed. This map is an attempt to recreate what I saw last year.
This map will also be included as part in my Devabhumi setting book, which will be released this year! Devabhumi is an Ancient India-inspired campaign setting, which presents an alternate world that brings the epics and stories of this rich culture to life. Indian temples come in a variety of styles, but the inner structures are almost always the same. There are two main sections, an inner chamber that houses the deity called the garba griha, and an outer worshipping space called the mandala. Worship typically takes place in the form of a Puja or Aarti, during which various food items are offered to the deity in a large sacrificial fire.
This map can also be used as a general fantasy temple if you wish to do so. Enjoy!
