The Naked Gun 3

Oh my god the guy with the boobs hat is Gol Dukat XD Oh god

Thall

It's been a week for potential Gul Dukat sightings, with Marc Alaimo as the Romulan Captain in TNG and as the trucker in the boob hat in this.

For your question at the start, The Naked Gun is a movie adaptation of the TV series Police Squad!, which is why the first movie has a subtitle of "From the Files of Police Squad!". It only lasted 6 episodes, but was the same creators as the movies and stars Leslie Nielsen. That was pretty much a parody of the super-serious police shows of the time like Dragnet. That kinda informs the tone of Leslie Nielsen taking everything seriously even though everything happening around him is ridiculous. IMO, it's actually better than the movies, so it's worth checking out.

The new one had one scene that left me hurting from how much I laughed.

I never caught the Minoxidil joke as a kid… and this came out in 1994! I had no clue that Minox was being used for hair loss twenty years ago.

the new one was so much better than expected...it is literally jokes non stop...most hit..a few fall flat..but literally it is non stop gags...it was such a fun hour and a half..I enjoyed it more than all but the original

Seeing some of the recent films in the lineup, I’m definitely getting the sense you’re gearing up for some of the recent reboots (Superman, Fantastic Four, Naked Gun). It’s nice that many of these are getting positive reviews, but I do find it a shame how much studios, seemingly more than ever, rely on reviving existing franchises. I can't remember the last time when so many of the top films where revivals, sequels or reboots of existing movies and franchises as there are now...

Cincassette

I have not seen it yet but I'm pleasantly surprised by how decent the reviews have been. I'm not expecting anything great, but sounds like it's going to be at least worth a watch when it comes to streaming.

I think the new Naked Gun is worth a watch and probably better than you could realistically hope for in a modern day reboot of this franchise

Jimmy Olofsson

Absolutely. I thoroughly enjoy Loaded Weapon while also recognizing it's not exactly high art. But it made me laugh a whole damn bunch, and that's all I ask of a comedy in this genre.

Jeff K

These didn’t “get it right” either

Yeah, and now the new one out...I....feel Simone's hesitation. I did not go watch it in the theater, and I certainly 100% would have if I thought it deserved it. But I found the trailers quite dire and entirely missing the so dumb they totally lack self awareness style of humor. Viewer reviews were mixed. I may well end up waiting and see it at the same time the channel does. I'd absolutely love if they got it right and revived the genre, but...

You should do Police Squad the series if you get a chance, not many episodes so you could rattle through it pretty quickly

Ian Hunt

Well, the spoof version of Lethal Weapon is "Loaded Weapon 1 " with Emilio Estevez and Samuel L. Jackson in the main roles. As far as spoof-movies goes, it one of the better ones.

George's mcguppies became bazongas! 😳

this thumbnail better not awaken anything new in me.
