i did this like last year and its really fun to watch lol

SANAMDEEP

Just wanted to share this theory on how to watch BCS and BrB :) Chronological Watch Order for Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, and El Camino: Better Call Saul – Watch Seasons 1 through 6 up to and including Episode 9 of Season 6. (S06E09 is included. Stop after it.) Breaking Bad – Watch the full series (Seasons 1 to 5). El Camino – Watch the movie (takes place right after Breaking Bad ends). Better Call Saul – Go back and watch Season 6 Episodes 10 to 13. (These take place after Breaking Bad and El Camino.)

Sergei Tereshkin

Mike wasn't wrong about Walt. He didn't say Walt wouldn't make money. He said everything involving him and everyone around him would implode and end horribly. And it did.

Adam Vialpando

Guys, Jimmy is not after money! he has a sack full of diamonds. What drives him towards this its what always drove him, its an adiction towards those kind of stuff. its his nature, just like Chuck said a few times. He felt the tast of being back in the game with the shopping heist, which he did for protection. And then he got his call with Francesca which was something he got to look forwards during all this months, but now that he finaly had the call he has no other link with his former life in Albuquerque, him knowing that all his side/cover business are gone is not about the money (again, he has a sack full of diamonds!) its about everything of his former life being completely gone. And then he knew that Kim still remembers and maybe cares about him, so after the Francesca call he decided to call her too... and something about their conversation was the final push for him to just say "fuck it" and go back to the scam life. Sure, having some hard cash at his hand without having to selling some of the diamonds is good for him and made him buy some more confortable stuff. But again, this "relapse" has absolutely nothing to do with the money. I mean, its not like his home life is so much diferent than it was before he "relapsed", as Gene.

Ren

It seems Aaron Paul’s voice and face changed it seems more than Brian Cranston. Crazy Carol Burnett a couple of years ago at 90 had a stand up special - go Carol! Great point George about finding out all of his other cash and money reserves being wiped out, for sure that was a factor.

SpankTheMonk

Yeah Identify theft is really hard to catch the bad people. Compared to stealing fancy items where the police would come and perhaps do forensics of the scene and track the merchandise sales.

SpankTheMonk

Can’t forget about the terminal cancer. But you are solid on the main point 🖖

SpankTheMonk

You might be, but thanks for sharing

SpankTheMonk

Re: George at the end "Let's just put on Breaking Bad S1E1"... yes! AMC aired it right after the finale, and I got sucked into watching it. It was an interesting experience to see how everyone, but especially Walt of course, changed over the show, yet in completely believable ways. Anyway, I suggested around the end of your BB reactions that it would be interesting to re-react to BB S1E1 knowing what you know now, and I think it would still be interesting after BCS.

Angzarr

In one of the BB episodes someone (Pinkman?) made a reference to the show Ice Road Truckers. Ice Road Truckers responded with an episode called Braking Bad.

Angzarr

Magnesium Citrate is the stuff they give you to clear out everything before a colonoscopy. It works. Really well.

Angzarr

Also, I'm pretty sure you could get it via caller ID on your cell phone or home phone. Or, if you're a phone nerd, you'd know an ANAC to call (in the US, try 800-444-4444)

Angzarr

And "What's Betamax"? Oh that hurt. Why don't you just give me a paper cut and pour lemon juice on it?

Angzarr

I'd be on board with Banshee because I've been meaning to watch it for years, since one of the two creators was my English teacher sophomore year of high school so I feel like I owe it to him to finally check it out.

Jeff K

Maybe not for the channel but I can only recommend the channel Alternative cuts and their great high effort BB edits from a former VFX artist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wtZnrOJJM8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2FuE6oL9Kw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOH0IZwp_nA The breaking bad remixes are fun too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsqdmqRgrIc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzhW20hLp6M

Dragonhunter

I lost count how many times I said "fuck you Jimmy" on both episodes. He never matured. He's always been a childish adult and that's what got him into all this shit. Technically, it wasn't a cameo appearance. Great to see Walt and Jesse again for one final goodbye to the Breaking Bad Universe. Always great to see Mike. I need to go in the middle off nowhere and see if anyone left money somewhere. Randonautica these places. lol kidding. I want a signed Simone Dictionary. The great Carol Burnett in these final episodes. You two should watch her in 1982 Annie. It also has Tim Curry. Have you two seen Rocky Horror Picture Show? They're question about pay phones showed their age lol.

K!ll Molli

Wow! You're one of those

The Leftovers Silo Raised by Wolves Banshee For all Mankind Recommendations for your next tv poll. Strongly suggest The Leftovers and Banshee. Two shows that everyone I know who has seen them loves, but for whatever reason isn't known as well mainstream.

Mavs4177

That’s a GREAT pull. I’m usually awesome at recognizing actors, but that is a deep cut. Such a great line & delivery BTW… Who do you work for? CIA, NSA? Tuckman Marsh. I work for Tuckman Marsh. What is that…a law firm? No, it’s a rock band I remember Simone was in disbelief. She said you wouldn’t be mouthing off, to a guy beating the sh*t out of you. Ah…the Coens 😎

CD

don't think anyone said this but the guy in the beginning, the first one getting scammed. That's Buzz, Kevin's A-Hole brother from Home Alone.

Guy-on-Couch

The whole point of the department store heist was to get those idiots in so deep they’d be facing decades in prison if they ever gave up Saul. Saul needed to cover his own ass since he’d been made. The easier, lower stakes grift against the rich assholes was just for Saul. Whatever was said between he and Kim was enough to set him off and awaken a very bitter slippin’ Jimmy.

JCR

George comments at the end, "It's the greed. The greed." It's more than that, that is the superficial excuse for Jimmy. It's what it's been the whole show, Jim rebelling, against the system, against being told what to do, against the rules, against what people think he can accomplish, against what people "see" when they look at him, against the world looking down on him. Throughout the show, there are specific scenes for each of those instances. Jimmy goes off the deep end in that latest episode, while he was doing just fine hiding and wasting his life away from the glamorous lifestyle. It is not until his phone call with Kim, whatever was said, whatever went down, he is rebelling against grieving losing her and fucking that up. They were bad for each after all, but Jimmy would have never let go because Kim did make Jimmy aspire for something more, for something greater and good, professionally anyway, we saw that throughout the show. And when she left, he lets go and becomes the sleaziest of "criminal" lawyers, his considerable talents for what is "bad." Whatever was said in that last phone call, it unhinged Jimmy.

David Caine

perfect time to finish the show, with a new vince series featuring rhea seehorn announced

David Bencze

That rhyme scheme during the department store heist was inspired by the dirty dozen (which is a great movie that you should watch)

Phil Jacke

Simone, we love you and your word choices. It's a big reason why CineBinge is my favorite reaction channel.

Muir Lyman

The bottom screen "oh my god" counter should make a comeback. Cameo, at least

Ben

US pay phones HAD their numbers printed on their dial or keypad....

Actuarial Lurker

He can't keep getting away with it, HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!!

MarisoL

"Identity theft is not a joke" two Office references back to back 😆❤️

MarisoL

The closing scene of episode 10 shows that what Jimmy REALLY misses is the excitement....we get a flash of loud color reminiscent of when he got the idea to annoy Cliff enough to fire him with the flashy suits and the un-flushed toilets to get his bonus

Actuarial Lurker

Hey, guys! Now that we've almost completed the Breaking Bad universe, I'd like to suggest a few videos to tack on to the final post or to make a special post, all BB related. To make sure nothing is spoiled, I won't post the titles here, just the links (all YouTube) and the length of each video. I hope you'll take the time to watch them and enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7U3rt_LP-c - 3:39 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpeWSY_PtOg - 6:19 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWeVx9zjN7I - 5:54 Three short videos I'm sure you'll love!

Rev

When Gene was trying to stall the security guy and he said that if he died he'd be "a shadow", that was a reference to the song they played in the early B&W sequences, "My Echo, My Shadow, and Me." In Omaha, Gene could never escape the weight of his echo (Jimmy) or his shadow (Saul), and he always wished he could go back to being one of them.

Bobbobbobo

Never stop the mannerism though, Simone will always be the "oh fuck no" to George's "hehehehe". I've played soem british games and rewatched Blinders recently, now I can't stop swearing British. Bloody good grief.

Philipp Roensch

They already had a poll with Andor on it last week. Last I checked, it was leading by like 50 votes.

Jeff K

I forgot about that line from Chuck. I wonder if they tossed that in because she and Vince are friends, and he was throwing a nod to her. Or, I guess to keep it more accurate, his way of giving her an ear-tug before either of them had talked about having her join the series.

Jeff K

Wonderful to have the old goobers, Walt and Jesse, back. Oh, I so love the dual episodes of this final part, we know now how Saul got into the game for good (Howard, divorce, greed). But we also see how much of the BB events shaped his commitment. In the garage scene, and with no pity for the cancer guy, I believe he became a little bit like Walt, no backing out, no remorse. As well as some professionalism from Mike. Not saying anything, but I think Jimmy needed more money after that call with Kim...

Philipp Roensch

I really hope that your "short show" poll includes Andor. And The Good Place (4 seasons, none of them very long) could go on either poll.

Justin Leone

George has clearly already seen it. I know they sometimes let a movie slip in that only one of them has seen, but I'd be surprised if they commit to a whole series that's only new to one of them.

Justin Leone

Carol Burnett's return to TV was one of the biggest most surprising cameos in TV history. No shade, but it was funny to see you both just say "I don't recognize that person." Born in the wrong year, I suppose. Anyway she was one of the biggest comic actresses in the world from about the early 70's to the early 90's. From what I understand she had one of the few genuinely good primetime sketch comedy/variety shows, though that was even before my time. She actually represents a paradox in the Better Call Saul universe, because she exists as Marion in Omaha, but we also know that Carol Burnett exists in the universe as well. In the episode when Chuck and Rebecca invited Jimmy (new to ABQ) over to dinner: Chuck was afraid that they'd need a signal to quietly tell the other that they wanted Jimmy to leave. Chuck suggested "the old Carol Burnett thing," meaning a little tug at the earlobe. Throughout (I think) the whole run of her show, Carol Burnett used to pull at her earlobe at the start of every episode. It was only years after the show went off the air that Burnett revealed tug was a little secret "Hello" gesture to her grandmother (I think), who used to watch every episode.

Bobbobbobo

Mike was 100% right. If Saul did not help Walt and Jessy the two would have been dead or arrested in a matter of weeks at best. Walt was bad news for any bad guy he did business with. He completely ruined Gaus's and Sauls operations just because his precious ego was hurt. And when Walt tried to become the big drug kingping he went down in a matter of months.

Fipse

Magnesium citrate can be weird on the stomach as it's a laxative. Magnesium glycinate is the supplement people usually take. Just a heads up :)

KatMakes

Marion likely gets asked all the time if she needs help with her wheelchair/scooter but I suppose she wants to remain independent as much as possible and is probably sick of saying “no.” I can totally understand that. I go to the King of Prussia Mall, which is just outside of (Philadelphia) once every few months. Great place (and massive) and there is a real IMAX movie theater nearby. The rhyming reminders (“three.. linen shirts for free”) are an homage to the movie “The Dirty Dozen” (1967) which you should watch. George, Jimmy did research about the sports by reading the newspaper during the multi-screen montage, as well as watching TV presumably as he talked about a TV interview.

REDR58

Surprised I haven't seen it said yet, maybe i'm in the minority on this, but Mike wasn't "wrong" about Walter. He was right, at least partially. He didn't end up being "small potatoes", but he 100% was an amateur who blew it and wound up dead. Gus ran his operation for decades without being exposed, Walt was dead within 2 years of his first cook. Had Saul listened to Mike he would still be in ABQ living the "high life".

Jay Willis

jeepers4life! Free the jeepers!

Sumner Hayes

I wonder how many times one of them has said "ooooohhhhhhh" like the other one has figured something out, and it turns out to be wrong during this show

Benjamin Lien

pravo beter

Matt Blanchette

Great episodes. :) I'm looking forward to whatever ya'll will be watching next. :)

Logan Kerlee

You guys are still rooting for Jimmy/Saul/Gene to get away with it, which tells me you REALLY love an anti-hero. You two would probably enjoy Dexter or The Sopranos quite a lot.

8bitAndy

Minimally, the fact that Rhea Seehorn never won is positively criminal. (Odenkirk as well, of course.)

Jeff K

Better Call Saul holds a world record. 57 Emmy nominations with 0 wins. Which is BS. This show deserves every award. It is so amazing. Breaking Bad was an amazing, ground-breaking, genre-defining show. But it turns out, it was just practice for Vince Gilligan so he could make BCS.

TGrimace

the loop arounds are awesome. bravo vince

David Bencze

I was a bit surprised that George didn't mention Half-Life, as he seems to be a fan of the franchise. And is waiting and waiting too...

Maiki

Never quit with the “jeepers” and “zappie zaps” Simone. George, “G-men” is slang for “government men” in the US: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/G-man Nothing to do with God.

REDR58

Yeah watch any movie up until the 2010s-ish where someone waits at a pay phone for a call. Speaking of payphones, here is a payless payphone: https://youtu.be/DwXTUM2Y7L0?si=nNJGIKJcEoHG3BxM And here is a guy in Canada who installed a payphone on his property: https://youtu.be/8hVk9q3Q9To?si=ehr6sp6Bv8h7XOT5

REDR58

Correct George, Kevin Sussmann, who played the guy with cancer, was in Burn After Reading. Simone, he also played Stuart in Big Bang Theory.

Maiki

It is too bad they had to recast the cab driver (Jeffy), because the first actor fit the part so much better than the new guy. No disrespect to the new actor, but he is just not as shady looking, nor was he able to act as shady as the first actor. Numbers of pay phones are on the phones themselves, in case you need someone to call you back there.

Vwlss Nvwls

Most evil thing in the BB universe.

Helly R

I thought that was the name of the dog?

Matt Blanchette

"Paul's mezcal"... I see what you did, there. ;-)

Matt Blanchette

Also, that's Carole Burnett; you BET she's direct!

Matt Blanchette

The way the old lady replied to the man wanting to help her in the start of that first episode was not rude, it was prideful and direct.

Vwlss Nvwls

Plus: Jimmy is absolutely an addict. Not with drugs or alcohol, but with running scams. He can't help himself. Once he gets a taste, he finds himself needing more. It's also part of why Kim realized they were so bad for each other, because she realized she was an enabler.

Jeff K

please watch parks & rec

lisa

I think they're forgetting that the mall heist was just a one time thing, he just wanted to give the guy a taste of a score (and also some leverage for himself), he wasn't looking for a big score, especially since he didn't keep any of the money. Now he wants to get paid so he's pulling more lucrative jobs.

Stugotz

George Are we going to see Kim? Yep Yep Yep Yep

Mike Medaugh

By the way, the first time Saul appeared in Breaking Bad, the episode was called “Better Call Saul.” So it was only fitting that when Walt and Jesse finally show up in BCS it was called “Breaking Bad.”

Jeff K

I forgot to mention how much I love the synergy for the "Breaking Bad" episode of Better Call being the one that revisits the first meeting of Walt and Jesse to the fact that it was the "Better Call Saul" episode of Breaking Bad where Saul blurts out in fear "It wasn't me; it was Ignacio," and then later, "Did Lalo send you?" This prompted the whole need to write backstories and story arcs for those characters in this show, because of a throwaway sequence of lines so many years and seasons ago in another television show.

mojo shivers

611 cements for me that Jimmy is the main character in the BB-verse.

Helly R

hi Logan, try again it just finished.

George Simone

It's telling me "We're processing this video. Check back later." I think that's a first for me with a video that's hosted on YouTube. lol, I guess that I'll wait until later today to watch this? :/

Logan Kerlee

Pay phone numbers are on the pay phone, usually right above the keypad.

Stugotz

By the way, obviously Carol Burnett was the big new guest star (obviously excluding Cranston and Paul - and by the way, George, I'm betting they absolutely slipped right back into it because those two are basically best friends at this point and I believe Bryan is even Aaron's kid's godfather, along with them owning a mezcal company together)... but shout out to Devin Ratray, best known to people from my generation as Buzz from the Home Alone movies. He was the obnoxious guy that was Saul's first mark in episode 11 doing all of the bets at the bar. Also speaking of Cranston and Paul's mezcal, it's probably too late at this point because I'm guessing y'all are filming the last two episodes today/tomorrow or so, but if not, you guys should totally pick up a bottle if you can find it (Dos Hombres is the brand) to commemorate getting to the end of the BB/BCS universe.

Jeff K

And not to mention, throwing in two random names that would go on to be AMAZING characters with fantastic performances.

Jeff K

It’s one of my most quoted movies since seeing it with mates when it came out haha. Innately seconded ☺️

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Pretty bonkers to think that an initial throwaway line about Ignacio and Lalo by Saul in “Breaking Bad” would culminate into a piece of the grand story of what BCS grew to become by the time it hit this point. Gotta hand it to Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould and company for keeping that consistency so on point from the get-go. Also yeah great surprise to see uh… “old friends” again so to speak ☺️

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

I don't know if this would be worth reacting to as an additional piece of content like the Ozymandias poem or the squat cobbler video, but I definitely think it's at least worth checking out. This is a fanmade extended intro (credit to Bag Man, the person who made it): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wj7IKguCbjc I waited to post this until close to the end of the show just in case anything in it might be considered a spoiler. Like the tape stopping part. A little thing but it is unexpected and impactful when you start seeing it in these episodes. Also it's nice to finally hear the entire, uninterrupted theme song here at almost the end.

Allan

Nice!

Actuarial Lurker

I just caught for the first time what the invoice number was for the crate that Jeff was in. "1968AE35" is a reference to "2001". 1968 was the year the film was released and "AE35" was the antenna on the Discovery.

Jarrod Wild

That old lady at the beginning is famous legacy actress Carol Burnett. Nippy probably refers to the climate in Omaha, Nebraska, where current Jimmy escaped under an assumed identity.

Deadly Ramon

Sorry this has nothing to do with Saul, but I watched Chasing Amy last night on here, and George did comment after that he couldn't wait to watch Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back. I'm almost positive that's next in order of the View Askewniverse. It's been awhile since you two have watched those and I've been waiting so long for you to watch it lol. You two will love it and I really want to see some of Simone's reactions to the wild shit Jay says throughout the movie.

Mavs4177

Very minor nitpick, but am I the only one that isn't necessarily in love with the black and white photography? IMO it just doesn't look as good with digital cameras. I like the choice of using it for the Gene timeline, but there's something too "clean" about the way it looks for me.

Brandon

I was just about to say this. I would also add that at the time this was a nice surprise because she definitely is a comedy legend but her body of work never entailed something so edgy or occasionally dark as Saul/Breaking Bad. Having her pop up on the screen for the show was a definite What the Hell moment.

mojo shivers

ah, selected wrong frame rate for time code. will update versions later today.

George Simone

Hey George, there seems to be something wrong with the timer. The episode is 51 minutes long but it ends at like 61 minutes. Something similar happened for Annihilation, the movie is 115 minutes long but the timer at the end of the movie shows 1 hour and 30 minutes. Doesn't really matter to me cause I don't need it just wanted to let you guys know.

Dragonhunter

Don't you mean Gerry? or Terry?! I am sure his name isn't Jerry!

Thall

The old woman in this is Carol Burnett who is, and this is not even remotely hyperbole, a comedy legend. She's probably on the American comedy TV Mt. Rushmore, or at the very least, she's in the conversation. She ended up on the show because she was a massive fan of Breaking Bad and BCS, and became friends with Vince Gilligan. They were out at dinner once and he said, "Hey, maybe I could write you a part on the show" and she told him she'd do it even if she only got one line in the entire series because she just loved the show so much and wanted to be a part of this universe. EDIT: hey, you got there Simone! High five!
