Bloodsport

Comments

Year kickboxer is cool and I enjoyed the remake of it.

John_rd

Kinda like Steven Seagal, he's a blackbelt in bullshito

Joe

I think kickboxer is better and oh my God please watch Best of the Best

joserodriguez6195

It isn't based on a true story. Frank Dux is a known fraud and liar who pretends to be this ultimate badass. The worldwide martial arts community laughs at him.

Joe

As far as the “based on a true story.” As far as I know, Dux was a stunt guy and a…fabulist if I’m being nice about it.

jmundt33a

And Janet Gunn

jmundt33a

This is one of those movies that was on TV seemingly every Saturday morning as a kid lol. And you couldn't not watch at least some of it. Rotten Tomatoes giving it 48% is a tragedy

Ben

Shadow of a Vampire is a great pull.

Bookwormy

Just as a follow up to this, Kickboxer.... Its basically a serious version of Bloodsport. And as a curve ball, Dark City must be seen!

Kron0n

Posting this might violate the restraining order, but that thumbnail of Jean-Claude Van George is making my sexuality fluid. Speaking of things that are purportedly true, but absolutely are not, could you guys react to Shadow of a Vampire (2000)?

Simon Pegged Me

The 80s beef & cheese, Simone’s stimulants having her particularly unhinged & George getting to geek out over the 80s Hong Kong scenery made this a crazy fun time!

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

This is the perfect 80s action movie ,awesome action, awesome montages, awesome soundtrack. Bolo Yeong(the bad guy) was an actor and bodybuilder and several time Mr Hong Kong bodybuilding champion. Several of the fighters from this went on to become boss fight opponents in future Van Damme movies (Lionheart ,Kickboxer, Double Impact) You two need to watch Walled In: Twilight of the Warriors its a crazy action movie on Amazon Prime about the Kowloon City gangs.

Rnd1000

I saw it in my mind as "Testosteroni"!

REDR58

Overdubbing a different person's voice on an actor NEVER sounds right.

REDR58

Two perfect scoops of yummy.

Sean Hennessy

IIRC, the “nut punch” that he uses is the inspiration for Johnny Cage’s “low blow”; the character may even be inspired from Van Damme.

Kelley Leary

RIP Albert Pyun

nossieboy

“Better” production value but familiar story, you should see the Quest with JCVD and Roger Moore.

Jason Pratt

Bolo Yeung witnessed A fight Bruce Lee had on set of enter the dragon with an extra. 👀

Dwight Scarn

My favorite JCVD movie is Cyborg....it's not good, but it was fun for 10 year old me.

Jinyatta

That "wide guy" is Bolo Yeung. He is a very cool guy, with an incredible story. I always liked him better than JCVD.

Andras Beck

Plus, I REALLY want them to do Undercover Brother which should be done after Enter the Dragon.

Sir Friendzone

Enter the Dragon should be on the list. Bruce Lee and Bolo Yeung.

Sir Friendzone

Next sports movie reaction should be varsity blues

Angel Baby

Oh darn, was hoping for gender swap photoshopped faces on the YT thumbnail- next time 😅

SpankTheMonk

I'd forgotten just how bad the script and the dubbing were. I guess when it first came out, it was in much kinder, less critical times. Or we were just that desperate for new videos from Blockbuster.

Mark Alex Leach

It’s a true story in the sense that it was all related by a guy who grew up as “that kid” whose dad TOTALLY works at Nintendo.

Michael

Now do "Double Impact" and "Hard target" by JCVD!

Viilutaja

and Death Warrant and Double Impact and Lionheart

Galactic Cannibl

When this movie came out I was in 5th grade and me and my friends would play Bloodsport. Every day after school, I would come home and take a poop and then we would go in my backyard and beat the shit out of each other lol. My friend Derek was like Chong Li, his right kicks hurt like hell and didn't feel much pain lol

Galactic Cannibl

Definitely need to put Kickboxer, Universal Soldier (with Dolph Lundgren), Hard Target (one of my other faves besides Bloodsport), and Black Water (a little less known movie, also starring Dolph Lundgren) on your to-watch-list.

Shaka, When the Walls Fell

hell yeah bolo yeung

hurryupmode

The story might be fake but the muscles were real 😆 also I know Simone was thinking testosteronzini, mmmm noodle soup 😆 jk

Athenor

I FIGHT TO SURVIVE!

Galactic Cannibl

Simone, be honest - When you heard the word "testosterone-y", did you think it might be a kind of pasta? Because I did 😂

Mike FromOz

OK. now you have to watch Kickboxer. I don't make the rules.

Christina Doxstader

The real bloodsport was the friends we made along the way.

Hamesque

I was laughing every time it said true events. Figured you'd both have a chuckle when you read the trivia about it being fiction.

Kron0n

The story may be fictional and Frank Dux may be full of shit but Chong Li’s pecks are real.

Ray H

I blame cocaine... they probably didn't even think to question what he said. Also, no internet, so you couldn't even try and research it if you wanted to. Those records at the end are also really outrageous if you think about it.

SuPaTiLt

Classic 80's movie that I watch as a teen. A few years later, a full-contact fringe sporting event started with no weight classes and only 3 rules. It was only sanctioned in 3 states. Of course I'm talking about UFC. Interesting how perception changes over time.

Mike Medaugh

So. Apparently, the movie producers and even Van Damme all believed the source material, which was Frank Dux' own personal retelling of these events. However, in time, Frank Dux was proven to be an absolute fraud, there is no evidence whatsoever that he did the things he said he did, or that he has the titles that he claims (still claims) he does. Dux himself served as consultant for the movie. So, it is based in the true retalling of the made up machinations of Frank Dux.

Jenny-gave-forrest-aids

"deathtouch is awesome in mtg" I'm calling it now, Simone is a golgari player

Cherno Alpha

You wann have children stop that...

TomGas2025

Kumite! Kumite! Kumite!

Jeff K

<------- I love this movie!

Stugotz

One of my childhood classics. I’ve seen Themis so many times lol

Big Gee

Oh damn, my favorite movie from my childhood. I am so glad you guys are watching it

Zero

I was hoping it was going to be either George or Simone doing the Van Damm splits, but this is also great! I've been waiting all week for this, let's enjoy some schlock together!

Mike FromOz

Let’s goooooo
