Melon Is Here

Hi Melon

Melon Is Here

Comments

I wonder... who IS pointing at the screen when saying "that's Melon"? And are they pointing at the right one this time?

Ray S, 2nd nickname

I mean, I bet they're wonderful walks in memory lane for those you can do them. And fully admit to shaking my fist at clouds. I think the main reason it annoyed me was that people were harping about exactly how many bodies yay has been confirmed to have, when we know that they will probably only have the one next we see them, if we see them

Rhyon Ingalls

We are, but I'm betting there will only be the one next time we see them

Rhyon Ingalls

I was pretty delighted to be reminded of the Hercules meeting AND the glimpse into Yay’s apartment!

JFCIsIt2029Yet

Don’t take this away from me…! I am not demented, yet, that I know. But if I was, would I know? What were we talking about again? Who are you? Where am I?

legobil

Are we talking about Yay's bodies?

Graydon Armstrong

But Melon says, "Bubbles! Hi!" She clearly knows that they know each other.

Carl Fink

"Advance friend and be recognised!" "I can't advance, I'm right against the perishin' gate!" "Well, nip back a bit ..." [from "The Putting Out of the Cat" at the Tower of London.]

Charles Hirst

Yep, Melon had all her seams back and smooth ears by the time Yay disappeared https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=5380

Not that Patrick Foltz

Also lost the definition in her ears. Pretty much reset back to pre fire. Didn't we also see her at the club when Yay disappeared?

Not that Patrick Foltz

They definitely could but they've said many times that sanctity of personal integrity is one of their very few hard moral boundaries.

David Durant

Aaaaand I read that thread/link to the end and kind of cried. Thanks, BB, I think…

Claudia D.

You can't do the copy and paste thing? That's too bad! I usually enjoy seeing various old stripes that connect in some way, and I don't find the copy/paste to be difficult.

jonesnori

@Captain Button this was the first time we saw Yay topless.

Opus the Poet

Well other people enjoy it and Jeph thinks it's fine, and honestly book beard never bothered me. Sorry to distress. Most of my ire was directed at the incorrect "um actually" fellow who is either dirty deleted or blocked me, so trash took itself out, but now it looks like I'm just mad at bookbeard. And I'm sorry I brought it up. I still think I will stick to comment sections that don't have self-appointed glossary posters, as apparently it activates my fomo since I can't see them. Luckily this is literally the only place I've seen this behavior so it'll be easy for me. Sorry to bother anybody.

Rhyon Ingalls

Doooo iiitttttt

JFCIsIt2029Yet

DARN YOU ALL TO HECK! https://www.amazon.com/Sallcks-Mullet-Cosplay-Costume-Rocker/dp/B0BWBTZ5WP

BobC

Please, Melon. Don't sing.

ValdVin

Right, but the point is that it really doesn't look like that. The straps are drawn exactly like the neck seam and don't look like they either hang off the shoulders or bunch up from being pushed up from below (due to Roko leaning forward). It's especially noticeable with the bottom visible portion of the right strap (our left) curving like it was stretched by the upper curve of the breast. The second panel of the previous strip was similar, except that the difference in distance between the neck seam and the left and right straps broke the effect.

Quasitling

I never expected to feel such kinship to Melon as that very first phrase. That is so me. “Hi, my name is *introduces oneself*!” “Yes, I know! We met *names place and/or occasion where I most likely did meet that person* before!”

legobil

Every time I see her I think of that.

Carrie

I, personally, love the links and appreciate those who go through the effort of pointing them out and posting them. It’s a helpful thing that builds community. Enjoy or not, it’s a kindness.

Claudia D.

Ditto what Alcaria said. I tried on a pink wig last summer. Loved it. Go for THE GREEN! Amazon can bring it to you this very week.

Claudia D.

Clearly, there was a flaw in that seamless plan to prevent further infestations. When nothing could replace the feeling of gestating insects, she hatched a plan to revert to old ways. (Puns intended, not sorry) 🙂

Melissa Wilson

Depends on the robot. Crushbot...

Philip Masters

C’mon, Will, you KNOW you loved that.

Claudia D.

I wonder if Yay could piggy-back on another AIs body... Peeking out through Melon's eyes...

Doc Gumby

GDI though if dog puns would suddenly bring Brun into the conversation, I will allow it.

Miyaa

"Speak, friend and enter." "Mélon!"

Todd Ellner

I disagree, I think it’s fine

Jeph Jacques

Eglamore? …James Eglamore? *swoon*

Melissa Wilson

Melon missed the bug intimacy

enchantedsleeper

*Hiss*

William Burns

yesh

William Burns

but it hasn’t really, that’s her neck seam (for steamy outbursts) and the top of the top is lower, out of sight

Ísabel Pirsic

Melonnnnnnnn…!

legobil

I certainly appreciate the links, and at least in chrome, it's triple-click to select and then the right-click menu has a "Goto ..." entry. Unfortunately this isn't *quite* enough friction to keep me from then rereading a couple of months forward every time I see an interesting link :-)

Mark Eichin

It's comforting to have a robot doing monkey grooming on you, I imagine.

SpookyPenguin

Melony goodnesh ❤️

Mia Augustson

Aw I missed Melon 😊

Mia Augustson

Hi Melon!

Bagge

Is that Melon?

J.R. Murdock

Roko's gray spaghetti-strap top seems to have changed to a nude-colored spandex tank top...

Quasitling

Heyyy Melonnnn 😌👋

Kristina

I had forgotten about long-haired Melon!

William Cole

Melon!

Ken

Melon has her own idea of sympathy via light physical contact. https://www.dumbingofage.com/2014/comic/book-4/01-the-only-dope-for-me-is-you/sympathy-2/

ValdVin

I wish I lived in the QC universe, people (and AIs) seem much nicer there. plus I would like an AI GF. Not Melon though, I feel like I would be taking advantage. But there are a number of Female chassis AIs that I would like to spend some time with.

Opus the Poet

Aww, Melon's back. Ya know, if she had a puppy would it be a Melon Collie Baby, Jeph?

Joseph Bonnar

"Of course Melon, it's a beautiful farm and they're very happy there. Plenty of wide open space for them to run and play and chase rabbits and eavesdrop on encrypted comms traffic forever and ever."

BookBeard

I absolutely appreciate people posting links to relevant comics from years past. I certainly don't remember every single comic or detail from the 15+ years I've been reading the strip, so I appreciate being reminded of connections, callbacks, or characters I've forgotten or missed. I can't click the links, but it's hardly a trial for me to copy/paste it.

Rob Vary

Much Later... Roko, when is Yay coming back from that farm they went to? Bubbles: ...

Mad Marie

I get that it's your thing, and it's great that people enjoy it, I personally can't read them, and have no intention of doing extra work just to verify what I already knew, which is that my comment pertains to the comic. Don't want to ruffle any feathers, don't want to yuck your yum, just letting you know.

Rhyon Ingalls

I miss long haired Melon.

Miyaa

It can be difficult to keep track of relevant details and events over the course of, as you rightly say, a more than two-decade-long story, and I personally enjoy the exercise of finding and sharing those connections. Other people seem to enjoy it too, otherwise I would have long since stopped doing so. I apologize if you feel it is condescending, but I assure you that is not the intent.

BookBeard

Neither do I! But then, I do avoid mirrors.

BobC

I just noticed that somewhere along the way Melon seems to have regained the joint seams on her arms and hands since getting her new dermal covering. My headcanon is that she set herself on fire again and had to replace her arms with an older pair she had lying around. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4806 (She had the seams when we saw her in the nightclub too, it just didn't occur to me then)

BookBeard

I love the links. Thank you to those who post them. Sometimes I remember part of a story but for the life of me I cannot find that particular page. But since we are all talking about it, at least one or two others also are thinking it and post the link. I love it!

SilverbackRon

Bubbles I love you so much

Pejo

I mean, the other alternative is not doing it all. We all read the same comic and at best it comes across as showing off that you can leaf through an archive quickly, at worst it comes off as condescension in that your indicating that someone else has been reading the same comic you have for two decades and yet hasn't been comprehending it as well as you. Especially since the comment immediately underneath proves that one incorrect, so we're citing sources on estimates at best, and making people do extra work to watch us be wrong? Feels rude.

Rhyon Ingalls

The mobile app makes the links clickable. Also there are various browser plugins (for Firefox at least) that will do the same.

BookBeard

Actually, May was still in prison when we first met her. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2501

BookBeard

(that or it's a Firefox thing, dunno how other browsers handle it)

Minzoku Bokumetsu

the alternative is Patreon doesn't allow hotlinking like that and we will otherwise not have direct access to whatever reference because "it's QC comic number 4235" is even less accessible than the link we have to copy/paste

Minzoku Bokumetsu

I don't see an issue

James Anthony

Are we SURE that's Melon? Arthur may have just been decorating fruit again.

William Cole

What is the alternative? I just posted a proper HTML link (Yay * 5) and it isn't clickable either. I generally just select the whole link and right click and "Open link in new tab" or whatever.

Captain Button

Omg hi melon

Simon

Tomorrow: Elliot arrives asking if Roko has any excess sourdough starter he can use to make a sandwich bread. Hercules climbs Bubbles because she is tall even when sitting.

Miyaa

Yay * 5

Captain Button

Tbf, I don't think we met May until she was on parole.

Andrew Mitchell

"Maybe I wouldn't be so depressed if I didn't have FIFTY KILOS OF ROBOT PUSHING DOWN ON MY HEAD."

Sleepy John

I'm able to click on the links...

Packy Anderson

"Hi, I know you're Bubbles but you don't know I'm Melon!"

Sleepy John

Hi Melon

Christopher Burke

Only when it's socially appropriate!

Dean Reilly

It's Melon!

John

Can I ask why we're sharing links that can't be accessed without copy pasting to a new window in the comments? Especially when they're just links to the archives? It feels a touch condescending, since we all read the same comic and it has never been officially stated how many Yays there are. We all know there's a lot

Rhyon Ingalls

The title has me channeling Jimmy Buffet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxJwdDOVUPE

Captain Button

So close!

Michael Steamweed

Nah. That would only lead to me tinting my skin next. It's better this way. Though, I think I could really rock a neck seam!

BobC

MELON!

Rosilin

oh my god HI MELON

Ed Marshall

Don't let your dreams be dreams. Buy a wig

Alcaria Swain

I really want Melon to be right

Alcaria Swain

she was just on vacation in the big house~

LH

I wanna hang out with these three. Seems like a fun dynamic.

Yelling Bird

I’ve missed Melon

Alan Groves

Ok, well done, you made me laugh.

Seidmadr

I thought the phrase was "socially appropriate greeting" with Melon?

Everett Bradshaw

If I weren't bald, I'd want green hair. Just because.

BobC

Socially Appropriate Greeting!

BookBeard

OH! it's...um...dang it, it's on the tip of my tongue...errr... I want to say Lemon?

Fred Owlneck Jones

"Why is this mountain filled with robot bodies named 'Yay Landfill'? Isn't that a bit insensitive?"

Bill Silvia

At least 5, from when they met Hercules.

Captain Button

Melon’s logic is sound.

Populuxe

I mean, May was gone for a long time, and she sure wasn't having fun. 🙁

Sean Kinlin

Hi Melon!

William Hanna

melon.......

Tamara Macadam

Maybe some bodies are on vacation, while the main body is fighting kill bill style.

Andrea Andrew

Hi Melon!! We can't see both eyes, I hope she still has her multicolored eyes, as a heterochromic myself it was one of my favorite character design updates in the comic :3

Ashbury Haight

Hi Melon!

Not that Patrick Foltz

Hi Melon!

Andrew Denton

Melon! Hello!

Sammitch

Bubbles is a real one.

Celine Chamberlin

Yes, we know who you are. Couldn't resist the Doctor Who joke

Ryan X

[Melon has entered the chat]

Sean Kinlin

melon!

Brendan Luster

There is no way that yay is on vacation. They have many bodies. They're on several vacations

Rhyon Ingalls

Hi Melon!

Wynn Donivan

Doc Gumby
