Harbinger of Ruin: Ch.6(Reworked)
Added 2025-01-14 20:42:59 +0000 UTCA/N: Not a mistake!! This is simply a rewrite of Chapter 6 with massive changes that makes the story timeline go in a different direction.
Just read the A/N at the end to see what I mean. Anyway, back to the story.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Why am I even doing this?' I let out a sigh at my thoughts as I continued walking down the streets, feeling the atmosphere growing more and more heavy the closer I got to the eerie building down the road.
I could have just let them attack us and then we would have gotten rid of them once and for all, but to be truthful, I have to admit that I did feel a bit uncomfortable at how comfortable I was with that thought.
I knew I would need to kill sometime soon, but I would rather that happen during a battle I needed to fight instead of one we could actively avoid.
'Besides, Raynare and the others are just following the wrong orders so if I correct them, perhaps they might just leave…Ha! That would be a miracle if they do. No, I might have to get rough if I want to make them leave.' I thought with a sigh as I stopped at the start of the long staircase up to the church, looking up directly at the group of exorcists and the smirking Fallen Angels already awaiting me at the top.
Well, it's a good thing I made a few contingency plans for this, huh?
“Why are you here, devil? We have no issue with the Gremory!” Raynare shouted and my response was to shrug while crossing my arms.
“You want me to come up or you gonna come down?!”
“We're perfectly fine up here!”
“Well, if you wanna shout at each other, that's fine with me! Anyway, I'm just here to tell you guys that Asia Argento is now a devil of House Gremory!”
“…Who is that, devil?!” She shouted back, but I just rose an eyebrow at the slight frown that appeared for a split second on her face as well as the disgruntled looks and whispers from the other Fallen and rogue exorcists respectively.
“Let's not kid around here, Yuuma or is it Raynare? Issei called you one name, but then fedora-man over there called you another! So, which one is your name?!” I shouted back, watching as she turned to glare at the sheepish man before shaking her head as she looked back down at me.
“My name's Raynare! What is yours, devil?!”
“Kiba. Yuuto Kiba. Let's meet each other halfway here. I'll come up halfway and you can come down halfway! I don't mind if you need to bring your buds down with you!” I shouted as I began walking up, smirking as she frowned slightly before the other three Fallen followed after her as they walked down.
“Now, isn't this better? No need for us to sound like two drunk idiots shouting at each other.” I spoke with a smile as I stopped at the small resting spot built-up halfway and despite the glare in her eyes, she snorted in amusement at my words.
“You have not told us why you are here, devil.”
“I simply wished to ask if you guys would mind not attacking Asia nor any of the other Sacred Gear users in Kuoh Town. After all, I'm certain you four don't want Azazel to know why you have his Sacred Gear Extractor under the church, right?” My words made all four of them flinch as Raynare stared at me, an unsure look in her eyes while the others hid their surprise as best as they could.
“What is this Sacred Gear Extractor are you talking about?”
“The one you were going to use on Asia Argento to get her Twilight Healing to prove yourself to Azazel and the other Cadre of the Grigori. Also, Mittelt and Kalawarna, you two don't have to look so surprised at my words and Dohnaseek, please curb the bloodlust.”
“…We can't let him leave here alive, Raynare.” Kalawarna was the one who spoke up and I watched as the three behind her got ready while Raynare glared at me.
“And why would you tell us that? We could kill you right now.”
“Because if you do, you all die.” I said with a smirk as I lifted a hand and their eyes widened as dozens of pillars of scarlet light shot up into the sky, the lights all fusing together into one large cube that surrounded the church from all sides.
“The swords currently making the barrier are a little something I like to call Death-Dealing. Its ability is to release a translucent and odourless gas into the area that is highly toxic to anything with Holy energy. However, the toxin only activates when I want it to. It does take a while to take effect after I activate it, but before you all can kill me, you'll need to destroy every sword within less than ten seconds or else everyone dies.”
'Actually, it's less than five seconds after activation, but they don't need to know that.' I thought with an amused smile as I crossed my arms, watching as Raynare looked around at the barrier before turning her head to glare at me.
“Also, before you talk about the non-violence treaty the Three Factions have, no one would survive so neither the Grigori nor the New Devil Government would be able to figure out who the perpetrator is. However, do you guys really want to be the reason why Sirzechs Lucifer, the strongest Devil in history, decides to wipe out the Grigori?” Sirzechs was far too kindhearted to just go on a mass genocide spree, but they do not know the Sirzechs I used to grow up with.
Instead, they all heard the stories of the inhuman being that was born with the Power of Destruction being the very essence of his being, the being who is ten times stronger than the original Lucifer.
“What…what are your terms?” Raynare asked with gritted teeth and I sighed as I walked forward before surprising her as I placed a hand on her shoulder with a smile.
I could see her tense as she wanted to create a light spear, but I could also see she didn't want to give me a reason to kill them all.
“Listen, I'm not here as an enemy, okay? I'm just here to ask if you guys wanted to just leave and not cause a ruckus. If you leave right now without struggle, then I won't do anything.”
“And if we stay?”
“That's fine, too. I just don't want you guys to attack or bring harm to any of the devils in the city nor their family members. Can we agree to that?” I asked as I took a step back and held a hand out, waiting as Raynare looked down at at my hand with an unsure look before sighing as she nodded and shook my hand.
The next moment, I quickly created a sword in my grasp and parried the light spear that tried to impale her from behind, Raynare looking surprised at Dohnaseek's attack from behind right before the man's eyes widened as the light spear in his grasp vanished.
“I did warn you.” I muttered as I watched him try to attack me only to fall to the floor with a gargle, the girls looking shocked at the blood pouring from his orifices before I looked up right as numerous bullets slowly drew closer to us.
The world around me shifted rapidly as I rushed up the stairs, the sword in my grasp a blur as I swiftly parried each bullet to impact the trees before I leapt high and unfurled my wings.
Sandanzuki
Having trained this one move since I woke up in this body, wind gathered around my body before I shot right past all of the rogue exorcists, none of them shooting as the blade of my sword cracked all over and shattered.
The moment it did, blood pooled on the floor in puddles as the exorcists fell into pieces, taking deep breaths to calm my shaking hand before dismissing the hilt in my grasp and turning towards the slaughter behind me.
I really didn't want to kill anyone tonight, but since I did give them a way out at first, I suppose me killing them didn't make no difference.
“Are there any else?” I asked as I walked back down before spinning around and parrying the object flying towards me with a grunt.
However, my eyes widened and I quickly snapped them shut as fast as I could as a bright flash and a high-pitched shriek echoed in the air, making me cry out at the abrupt pain before quickly holding my blade in front of me as I felt danger rushing towards me.
“Eh? I thought that would kill you, but not bad there, you shitty devil~!”
“You must be Freed Sellzen. Lovely~” I spoke and I knew I surprised him as I blinked a few times to get the white dots out of my vision, just in time to see Freed hauling ass as fast as I could.
'…Well, I could go after him, but he probably has a few more flashbangs with him. Besides, he also probably has a few traps set up for me and I still can't hear a damn thing.'
“Hey!” I called out as I turned to the three Fallen Angel ladies, rolling my eyes at Mittelt's amusement at my pain before looking at Raynare's raised eyebrow.
“Where did you hide the Sacred Gear Extractor?!”
“Why do you want to see it?” She asked and I shrugged as I began walking towards the church.
“Just want to see if I can't do something.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Damn, this…this is a beautiful work of art.” I muttered with an awed smile as I walked around the cross and I didn't say that not just because of the fact that it was a large and beautiful piece of jewelry.
No, I was referring to the numerous enchantments that were engraved all around the cross' form, each of them powered individually yet also linking up with the other sigils to form one large enchantment.
“…Sure. So, what the hell did you want with it?” Raynare asked as she stood besides me and I was a bit surprised at how friendly she was before remembering of the poison that was still in her system.
“Don't worry about it.” I said as I walked forward and placed a hand on the cross, wincing a bit at the burning sensation that came with me touching a holy object let alone one this big before pulsing my demonic energy into it.
My eyes widened as I felt my consciousness sinking back, the full internal and external structure of the cross laid bare in front of my eyes as I watched how each enchantment connected to the other as well as how the different jewels and metals inside the cross all empowered the enchantments on it.
The next moment, I wheezed as the Holy energy from the cross repelled my demonic energy and sent me flipping head over heels through the air, grunting and groaning with each roll before wheezing as I came to a harsh stop thanks to me slamming back first into the wall.
“Y-Yep, I…expected that.” I groaned as I shakily stood up, not even feeling like glaring at the ladies as Mittelt was laughing her ass off while Kalawarna and Raynare just looked in sadistic amusement as I walked back up the stairs.
“Ahem!…Yeah, I think I'm done here. So, you three are going to leave?” I asked and the three of them looked at each other before I rose an eyebrow as Raynare shook her head.
“If we go back, then the Cadre who sent us here might decide to get rid of us.”
"Wait, a Cadre sent you guys here?" I asked, frowning a bit as they all nodded.
'I know there were some fan theories that Kokabiel was the one who sent them, but is that the truth?' However, I had some more urgent issues to think about, namely where the hell I was going to take these girls.
Actually...
“…Give me a minute.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Yuuto?”
“Yeah?”
“What is going on here?” Rias asked as she sat behind her desk, Akeno smiling despite the hostility radiating from her while Koneko was on guard as she and Mittelt glared at each other.
“Well, since I didn't want Asia to get attacked by them, I went over and asked if they would like to leave. They didn't want to, so I threatened them with a poison that would kill them and a-!”
“Wait, what poison is this?” Rias asked with a raised eyebrow and I blinked before shrugging.
“One that takes effect five seconds after I activate it and its main job is to absorb and convert the Holy energy inside any angelic being into a lethal poison to their bodies.”
“Wait, I thought you said ten seconds?” Raynare asked with a frown before paling slightly as I smirked and shrugged.
“Five seconds, ten seconds. It's all the same, is it not?”
“That's correct, Yuuto.” Akeno said with a happy smile, Rias just looking between us before she shook her head and look at the three Fallen gathered in front of her.
“So, what are you three going to do now?” She asked and Raynare gave an unsure shrug before they looked at me as I spoke up.
“I can think of one thing you could do to make sure that you get compensation for them illegally occupying your territory as well as give you three political protection against your former leader.”
“No./ Hell no./ Nope./ No way in Hell.” Raynare, Mittelt, Kalawarna and Akeno said respectively, but Rias didn't deny it as she looked to be deep thought while I shrugged as I leaned back against the wall.
“Hey, that's just an offer, but it is also quite a good one. This way, you guys have protection if your old boss tries to demand you guys back to kill you all.”
“But becoming a devil? Is there not something else?”
“You could also become slaves to my family, but I can say that's a lot worse than being a member of my peerage. That or I could send you all back to the Grigori, which is what you are trying to avoid. So, which one would you all like to pick?” She asked and the girls looked at each other before Raynare spoke for them all.
“We would like to take your offer to become members of your peerage.”
“Wonderful! I believe one or two Pawns will be enough.” Rias spoke with a happy smile and I decided to let her do her thing as I walked over to the frowning Akeno and surprised her by grabbing her hand.
The next moment, a squeal escaped her lips and the rest looked at us before surprised as I lifted her onto my shoulder and turned to Rias, shrugging as she raised an eyebrow at me.
“Don't worry. Just a quick chat with her.”
“Put me dow-Ah~!” She tried to get away by punching my back, but a sharp slap to her ass made her squeal as I walked towards the door, hearing Rias giggling before I closed the door behind us and began walking towards the back of the ORC building.
Time to see if I can't curb this attitude before it gets too worse.
A/N: Also, let me just say this. I couldn't continue the story after the review from Okita-chan because I realized that I was really just making a bloodthirsty battle-junkie instead of the tactical fighter I was imagining.
Therefore, I've decided to kind of rewrite Chapter 6. Basically, this is the one that I had first in mind before I went with the whole fighting chapter because I wanted to introduce some action.
Don't worry. If you guys don't like it, then I'll go and upload the next chapter Sunday at the latest so just enjoy this one and tell me which one you prefer more.
As always, read, enjoy, review and until the next one…
Ba-Bye~!!

I'll take it that you like this one over the other. Also, they were kind of working with her, but they were mostly working for Kokabiel as they, like him, wished to disturb the status quo of the society and ignite the embers of war again. Also, yeah, the more powerful the Holy energy, the more resistant someone is to the effects.

2025-01-15 06:39:28 +0000 UTCAlso, I always kinda liked Mittelt's design. Could be fun exploring these angels more. We don't have any canon ages, but if we go by appearance, then Mittelt is probably the youngest, maybe between 14 and 17, Raynare between 16 and 20 (her BDSM Outfit never happens in the lightnovel, she actually just looks like a teenager), and Kalawarna is 20+ based on her appearance, she can't be to old( like centuries) otherwise she would for sure have reached mid class in strength

2025-01-14 21:27:21 +0000 UTCChapter was good. I guess these poison/holy Killer swords really only work against weaker angels. Someone like Akeno might survive in it for a while and Azazel, Gabriel, Kokabiel can probably shrug it of as a minor inconvenience I did not expect Kiba/Rias to offer the 3 of them reincarnation. Maybe just protection until Azazel arrives with potentially one or two of them joining. So, Dohnaseek and the exorcists were never really working for Raynare, just using her?
