Devilish Gaming: Ch.21

“So, you guys are heading off to the Soul Society tomorrow?”, Chad looked up at Kūgo as he spoke, watching as the man sat on the opposite of the booth the two of them were sitting at with a slight frown on his face.

“Yeah.”

“You ready for the struggle that awaits you all?”, he asked and Chad shook his head as he finished his soda before placing the empty can down on the table.

“No, but I'm prepared for whatever is thrown our way”, he answered and Kūgo smirked as he nodded while taking a sip from his beer.

“Okay then. Just remember, watch out for the people with badges around their arms and people wearing white haoris. They're called the lieutenants and captains respectively and it was a captain that took out my adoptive father Mr. Kariya.”

“…Am I still going to be allowed here after I go?” Chad asked as he looked at Kūgo, smirking as the man snorted and downed his beer.

“Even if I wanted to kick you out, Jackie and Riruka would just force me to bring you back and that's too much work.”

“Nope, I would just go hang out with them.” Riruka chimed in from where she, Jackie and Giriko were sitting near the bar, the man looking amused as Jackie smirked and Kūgo sighed.

“Of course you would.”

“Don't worry, Chad! As far as I know, you're one of the strongest ones of the group.”

“Thank you, Moe.” Chad thanked his friend and Moe just gave a nod before glaring at his mentor as Tsukishima spoke up.

“And you still struggle to learn the basics of Fullbring.”

“Oh, come on, sensei~! You just said that I'm good at what I do.”

“Being a buffoon is not something to be good at.”

“In any case, just stay safe and make sure that you return to us safe, understood?” Riruka said as she stood up and walked over, Chad nodding before looking over at Yukio as he spoke up.

“Correction. You mean that he should return safe to you.”

“N-No! I mean us, dumbass!” She exclaimed as she walked over to him, Chad just frowning slightly before shaking his head as he stood up.

“Chad?” Chad stopped as he turned to look at Kūgo, who stood up with a stoic look before surprising Chad with a smile and a black card that had Xcution written in white on the front.

“Here. I had Yukio make you your own keycard along with your own unique code on the back that will only show when you channel your unique Reiryoku into it. If the card ever gets lost, Yukio will destroy it remotely and you can just use the code to come get a new one.”

“Thank you. I shall keep it close,” Chad said with a thankful smile and Kūgo nodded only to roll his eyes as Yukio spoke up from where Riruka was trying to choke him out.

“Don't worry. The card will destroy itself whenever someone else tries to use it.”

“Oh…I'll still keep it close,” Chad answered as he placed the card in his back-pocket and Yukio shrugged before the tall teen walked over to the door, taking one glance back as he watched everyone looking at him with amused smiles.

“See you when you get back,” Kūgo greeted with a grin and Chad nodded as he opened the door.

“See you all when I get back.”

“Ah, Mr. Sado! To be honest, I did not expect for anyone to be here this early, but there's no problem with that! Please, sit,” Chad simply nodded in greeting as he walked up to the store, sitting down on one of the few large rocks outside of the Urahara shop.

'Today's the day. Hah, deep breaths, Sado. You will all survive,' Chad thought to himself with deep breaths as he sat with his forearms resting on his thighs to calm down his racing mind.

“Are you nervous of your adventure?” Urahara asked with his fan covering his face and Chad looked at him before frowning slightly as he nodded.

“I am.”

“Good. That means you all won't bite off more than you chew.”

“Are you scared of us doing so?”, Chad asked before smirking slightly as Urahara chuckled and shook his head.

“No, I believe you kids are smart enough to not go overboard. Now, I'll leave you and your friends to discuss your plan of entry.”

“Friends?”

“Sado!”, Chad blinked as he heard a voice calling out to him, turning to see Ichigo, Tatsuki and Orihime jogging towards the shop as Orihime was the one who called out to him.

“You ready?” Ichigo asked and Chad nodded as he stood up before both of them turned as Orihime spoke up.

“D-Do you think that Uryu will show up?”

“I…don't know.”

“He will,” They all turned to Tatsuki as she spoke up, to which the girl shrugged as she crossed her arms.

“Uryu might not show up, but he lost to Shinigami and as a 'Quincy', he's way too proud to not come with us to set the score straight.”

“Arisawa speaks the truth,” They all looked up before Ichigo and Chad gave their fellow guy a deadpan stare as he dropped down from the rooftop with a smirk while Orihime giggled and Tatsuki rolled her eyes.

“…Was that whole thing needed?”, Ichigo asked and Uryu simply smirked as he pushed up his glasses and nodded.

“It was, indeed. Now, let us not keep Mr. Urahara waiting any longer”, They all simply watched as the Quincy turned and walked into the shop, Tatsuki shrugging as she and Orihime followed after them.

“…I see he's still as high and mighty as ever, huh?”, Ichigo said with a smirk as they followed after them before chuckling as Chad smirked and nodded.

“If he wasn't, we would think there's something wrong with him.”

“That…is true. Anyway, you ready to go show the Soul Society what it means to piss of Karakura's delinquents?”, Ichigo asked with a grin and Chad looked at his fist and back up at him.

“…What?”

“What? It sounds cool”, Ichigo said with a shrug and Chad simply sighed and shook his head.

“Of course, you would think that.”

“Oi! You insulting my ability to give us nicknames here? Chad, get back here and say that to my face!”

“So, what…what exactly is this?”, Tatsuki asked as the five of them stood in the middle of a vast desert plains right beneath the Urahara shop, Tessai not answering as he slowly pushed the gadget she was talking about in place.

“This, Ms. Arisawa, is a gateway called a Senkaimon. Listen closely because I'm not going to explain it over, but before that”, Urahara simply stopped as he poked Ichigo in the forehead with the bottom of his cane.

They were all surprised as the orange-haired teen in his Shinigami garb fell out of his body while his flesh-and-blood body fell to the floor, Orihime and Tatsuki poking at his body while Chad frowned slightly as he saw the shift in name above Ichigo's head.

'Isn't…is that not the highest level?' Chad thought to himself in shock as he watched Kon jumping out of nowhere onto Ichigo's shoulder to shout at the others to stop poking at his body while trying to calm his mind.

It was just nearly three weeks ago that he felt Ichigo's Reiryoku levels to be on an Immense level, but compared to how much he himself have been growing, Ichigo's growth rate blew his out of the water.

'Does…does he have one as well? No, if he did, he would have told us of it. Ichigo's not the kind that can keep secrets well,' Chad thought before shaking his head as he pushed the thoughts, wanting to continue listening to Urahara as he spoke.

However, as Urahara continued talking, he frowned as he heard the explanation of how the gateway was going to work, subtly grasping the air and pulling part of it open with just two fingers.

If they were the same, then perhaps…

“And that's how you all will survive the transfer from the Living Realm to the Soul Society. Any questions?”

“Just one, Mr. Urahara. If anyone would open a gateway inside the Senkaimon, will it connect directly to the Soul Society or not?”

“Unfortunately not. I've had Tessai try a few spells like that, but it doesn't work unless spiritual energy is fuelled through the Senkaimon to activate the gateway. Why do you ask?” Instead of answering, Chad simply responded by reaching out and tearing a portal to the Garganta with one hand.

Urahara's eyes widened for a split second before they narrowed as he walked closer, Tessai doing the same while reaching out to touch the edges of the portal with a frown.

“Fascinating. Do you know that this is the same ability that Hollows use to travel to and fro from their home dimension?”

“I do. It's how I figured out what it was”, Chad answered, surprising Urahara once more as he looked at him before humming as he stood back and let the portal close back up.

“I see. Thank you for letting us know this secret of yours, Mr. Sado.”

“Wait, when did you even get this and how come you didn't tell me?” Ichigo asked with a frown and Chad simply shrugged as he crossed his arms.

“Ever since I started gaining my abilities and you never asked.”

“…Smart-ass”, Ichigo grumbled and Chad smirked as Orihime patted him on the shoulder while Uryu and Tatsuki hid their smirks, Urahara hiding his laughter behind his fan as he nodded and snapped it shut.

“Well, then let us get this party started. It will take Tessai and I to get the portal ready so get ready because you'll have three seconds to enter it and another four minutes to get through the Dangai before you are all sealed off forever. Is that understood?”

“Yes, sir,” They all spoke in agreement and Urahara nodded as he walked over to the Senkaimon, Chad stretching his body from side to side while pulling his arms behind him to get ready for the battles ahead.

“So, you got any other secret things of note?” Ichigo asked with a smirk and Chad nodded as he stood up straight.

“A few. You?”

“You could say that.”

“And when have you been training those?” Tatsuki chimed and Chad looked at her before shrugging as he answered.

“In my free time. Have you not been developing your own secret skills?”

“I have.”

“So, all of us have been training hard to get revenge on those wretched Shinigami?” Uryu asked with a smirk before rolling his eyes as Ichigo gave him a deadpan stare.

“You're an annoying Shinigami, Kurosaki. Not a wretched one.”

“Oh, I can just feel the difference there”, Ichigo spoke with a roll of his eyes and the others smirked as Uryu shook his head with a sigh.

“Must you be so over-sensitive?”

“Ooh~ Just give me a reason to punch you in the face here, buddy.”

“I'd like to see you try, Kurosaki”, Uryu responded with a frown as the two walked off to each other and Chad sighed as he reached out and stopped the two from punching at each other.

“Is this going to be normal?” Tatsuki nearly jumped as she heard Yoruichi's voice right behind them, glaring at the transformed woman as she was in her cat form and grinning smugly at them.

“Do you want me to have a heart attack before I hit 18?”

“No, but it is quite fun to scare you. So, are you all ready?” She asked and Tatsuki and Orihime nodded with determined looks in their eyes.

Looking over at Ichigo and Uryu, she rolled her eyes as the two stopped swinging at each other and turned away with a huff, but smiled in thanks as Chad moved their heads as if making them nod in agreement.

“Good! Then, let's get this party going! Kisuke, ready?!” Yoruichi asked, Urahara not answering as he frowned slightly before raising a finger.

The moment he dropped it, sparks of dark purple lightning appeared in the middle of the Senkaimon before a swirling void of a similar colour spawned from the centre.

Immediately, Yoruichi leapt onto Ichigo's shoulder right as the five teens rushed into it, all of them stopping a bit as they stared at the grotesque purple flesh walls, ceiling and floor that was pulsating.

“Keep going! You only have four minutes!” However, Yoruichi's voice snapped them from their shock and Chad shook his head before he ran after the others.

However, it was after a minute or so of running that he heard a noise emanating from behind him, looking back only for his eyes to widen at the sight of a grotesque train made out of the same purple flesh as the walls around them bulldozing directly towards them.

Not wasting a single moment, Chad immediately went from zero to full speed as his body was covered in an orange glow, continuous explosions erupting from his feet and boosting his speed tremendously.

Orihime was the first he picked up and the girl squealed as he placed her on his back in a piggy-back, Tatsuki and Ichigo both being surprised as they felt their feet being pulled from the ground while Yoruichi leapt from Ichigo's shoulder to Chad's head.

“Good! Pick up the pace!”

“Oi, what the hell?!”

“Behind us!” Chad responded instead and Ichigo looked back before his eyes widened at the purple flesh train gunning towards them with a golden eye focused directly at them.

“Ishida!” Chad shouted as he caught up to the teen, who nodded before Ichigo grunted as Ishida leapt over to stand on his back, wanting to shout before stopping himself as Chad went all-out.

“We're almost there! Just a bit more, Chad!” Yoruichi shouted and Chad nodded with gritted teeth as he strained his body just a bit more, watching as the light behind them drew closer and closer before his eyes widened as a triangular shield of orange light appeared behind them right as the flesh-train crashed into them.

The force of the attack sent all six of them soaring through the air and through a gaping hole in the void that opened the moment the train hit them and as it closed behind them, the six were swiftly teleported to a new location.

Unfortunately for them, they appeared in the middle of the sky and Chad's eyes widened as he quickly created a slide below them, Orihime squealing happily and raising her arms above her head while Ishida leapt off and made his own slide down.

As the last one to land, Chad rolled with his landing before hopping to his feet, giving Orihime a thankful look as his fellow classmate placed her healing barrier around him and soothed his pain.

“Thank you,” Chad spoke with a smile and she giggled as she retracted her ability while nodding.

“No problem. So, where are we, Yorui-?!”The girl was cut off by the angry cat headbutting her and knocking her onto her behind, Orihime yelping and rubbing her forehead as Tatsuki glared at her.

"What the hell was that for?!"

"You don't understand what the Dangai nor the Kototsu would have done to you had your Shun Shun Rikka been touched by it instead of your Santen Kesshun barrier!"

"It's okay. She did help us get out of there." Ichigo spoke with a shrug and Yoruichi just let out a sigh before shaking her head as she leapt off of Orihime's lap. 

"Let's just go before you all give me a headache."

"Where are we going?" Uryu asked after having put on a brand new cape, drawing incredulous looks from Tatsuki, Ichigo and Chad as Yoruichi smirked and continued walking.

"We're going to visit an old friend.”

“How old are we talking here?” Ichigo asked before hissing as the answer he got was a smack to the face, glaring at Yoruichi while the rest of them hid their smirks as they all followed after the cat.

As they made their way out of the forest, Chad's eyes widened slightly along with everyone else's as they stared at the beautiful village in front of them, the makings of the buildings not unlike that which you would get from old villages built out away from the cities.

However, the tall teen along with Tatsuki and Orihime were more amazed by the purity of the reishi they could feel in the air, Chad taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly as he could feel his soul being more powerful than his human body was in the Human Realm.

'Unlike that forest place where it felt as if my soul was dancing in joy or the Human Realm where I could feel how weak the reishi in the air was, here it…it feels as if there's so much food around me, I would never be hungry again.'

“Are you guys feeling it too?” Tatsuki whispered to him and Orihime as they continued walking, Orihime nodding excitedly while Chad nodded at her words.

“Yes, the reishi…It's pure, far more pure than back in our realm.”

“I know. I guess Mr. Urahara's explanation on the souls being powered by this stuff makes sense now.”

“Chad? Chad, is that you?” Chad blinked as he heard a young voice calling out to him, the others looking just as confused to hear his name as the teen turned in the direction of it before his eyes widened at the sight of a smiling young boy waving happily at him.

“…Yuichi?”

A/N: And we're ending it here. A quick and short chapter to set off the Ryoka Invasion Arc…or is it?

Anyway, next chapter, meeting Kukaku and infiltration.

Also, just to clarify, I know Chad fights Kyoraku in the canon universe, but in this one, I have a certain Lt. that I want him to face off against.

He might win or he might lose, but that's the fun of not knowing, isn't it? Hehehe~
