Multiple Choice Scenes
Added 2018-07-01 06:59:24 +0000 UTCHi Tango Fiction connoisseurs!
I have decided to add in some more multiple choice scenes like the strip poker event that appeared in the last update. These are scenes within a single path that add variation and will build an internal score which will affect later options and ends while giving a player more freedom.
So, for practical purposes, here is a couple examples and plans for/from Evan's route: For both the hike and fishing options there will be two layers of choices. It doesn't matter if you go hiking or not, what matters is which of the outcomes you end up with. So if you rely on Evan from the get-go and let Evan take the lead and save you from the bear you get +3 (or maybe 4) romance. If you play dead and Evan saves you, you get +2 and if you scare the bear off yourself, you will get 1 point. The scores values might vary slightly, if it makes sense - but I will try and keep these fairly balanced except for the ones that trigger offshoots (like I plan the strip poker choice to evolve into).
The new fishing scene I am writing will also have three branches and the same approximate stats. So what this means in terms of gameplay, is you can be spontaneous and mix and match choices as you please, and then future scenes and ends will be based upon the sum of your decisions. (Ie, if you have above 20 "Evan points" it triggers ending 1, 15-20, 2, less than 10, 3.) I haven't decided if I will overtly display the stats, probably not though since I mean them to be intuitive. If you go out of your way to please your partners consistently you will earn a lot of points and romantic ends, if not, less so.
In other news, it seems quite a few are interested in pregnancy content ('o.o) so I am trying to brainstorm a few extra ways it can turn up (since most of the outlined preg content I have usually (by its very nature) appears at the very end of various routes). So if anyone has a good idea worthy of Transfigure, let me know. The best I got so far is a somewhat bizarre plot about Taylor getting pushed into a surrogacy and a plan to extend the abduction bad end with more scenes. I do plan to flesh out - well fucking everything really, but I have to impose some limits to prevent absurdity and lack of productivity. Once I finish a few ends, there will be a bunch of votes to determine which routes will get completed and which of your favorite endings and side routes will get expanded and improved. When all is said and done, I hope to have even alt routes like the asylum to be "full length" short stories, ie much longer than they are now.
I also worked a fair bit on the latest "mad science" scene which will connect a lot of the random stories I wrote that don't fit anywhere but I figure people want more content so why not. Transfigure will truly shine in its diversity or die because of it :P I want someone answering the question: "what is Transfigure about?" to have a mild seizure. It is about a lot of things... heh.
I spent a couple hours on Friday writing fight scenes for the assassin route. That was pretty fun. You will definitely see be a big difference between the chip/unchipped outcomes (and it will effect all your subsequent decisions - what may be possible with a chip is otherwise undo-able without.)
The polls for the spy missions were very close, and Celeb bodydouble/guard is ahead by 1 vote, so I will try and flesh out that first along with the assassin one since it has a lot less variations. I honestly believe these spy missions will evolve into some of Transfigure's best and most unique content. Each of these missions will be a bit "fallout-esque" in that they will have multiple paths to completion or sexy failure and be based on skills and choices. I am writing one base assassin story with two variations - will you target a tech billionaire with his eyes on global domination or a merciless drug kingpin? Either way, Taylor has his work seriously cut out for him - modchip or not!
I also fleshed out a bit of the story for the "infiltration agency mission" and one of the options will lead to a very sexy and awkward encounter that might be a bit reminiscent of Game of Throne's first tower scene. Patreon hates this infamous content that starts with an i and rhymes with "pintrest." It will show up but be minor in scope and be tasteful so I can fall firmly into their vague artistic grey area. Let's hope Taylor doesn't (does) impersonate someone he shouldn't!
As for the next update, I would guess it will be out in the 2nd week of July. I still have about ~300 pages of content to add to Transfigure but most of it is nowhere close to a finished state. Once I flesh out and complete this content, Transfigure will be around 500,000 words and contain around fifty short stories bundled into one massive interactive fiction game. It is almost a cringe-worthy amount of work to get there but the groundwork has been laid and I now have nearly ONE HUNDRED patrons at my back. With this setup, Transfigure will become fucking awesome (or more awesome, depending on your perspective). I have genuine pity for my competitors, for I know that when I complete what I have planned, Transfigure will not be matched by any of them in terms of writing and scope.
As always, thanks for sticking with me and please leave a comment with your favorite scene if you haven't done so - it just takes a sec. <3 Tango
