Dungeon from the Void - Book 4 - Chapter 8 - Meeting the King

One week after Fenrir became Tier 2
A knock sounds from my office door, making me raise my head away from the paperwork I was working on as I call out, "Who is it?"
"Me," I hear Aidan's voice from the other side before he continues, "our scouts have sighted what they believe is the King of The Drezar Kingdom's entourage coming this way from the West coast, near the cliff border."
Ah, so it's that time already, then?
I glance at the document in front of me one more time before signing it and getting up from behind my desk.
"Let's go prepare a greeting for them," I call out while walking up to the door before opening it, "and make sure to find Ray, seeing as she is the one that had the preparations set up and all."
Aidan nods before rushing off to go do what I told him.
I on the other hand begin heading towards Kat's room within my manor to find her.
Assuming she is even in her room.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And she's not in her room.
As I'm walking through the halls of my manor, I ask each and every member of the house staff that I find if they have seen her, and every single one of them just tells me that they haven't seen her.
Except for the one in front of me, that is.
"You said that you saw her leaving the manor?" I ask the head cook front of me.
"Yes, City Lord," the woman says with a slight bow. "This wasn't that long ago either, milord."
I nod my head to her in appreciation before heading towards the exit to the manor.
Guess it's time to search the city.
I just hope that she is at the Mercenaries Guild.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fortunately for me, I do end up finding her at the Mercenaries Guild.
Not really sure why, but she seems to be taking archery lessons from Rose. Along with the recruits for the Mercenaries Guild.
Her lessons aside, I call out to her right after she lets loose her arrow so as to not distract her, "Your father is here, Kat!"
She jerks her head in my direction at my shout before nodding her head and looking at the target. A thin frown forms on her face as she sees her arrow not in the center, only for it to vanish again not even a full second later when she turns to talk with Rose.
I wait for a few minutes for her before we both set off.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few hours later
I stand at the gate to the city of Wolfdenn next to Kat, Damien, and Ray, along with an assortment of Human and Orc guards as we watch the King's entourage approach the city walls.
What surprises me about the entourage is that I actually recognize the man standing front and center amongst the group. The man has brown hair, along with a scruffy looking beard and the same red eyes as Kat. But what confuses me is that he has the royal family's crest on his chest plate, with a full set of white armor on, along with a white cape that is blowing in the wind behind him.
"Uncle White?" I mutter with a frown. "What's he doing here?"
At the same time, Kat nods at the man as he gets closer before saying, "Welcome, father."
Wait, what?
Huh?
Uncle White is... what?
I alternate between the two as Kat gives me a strange look for what I called Uncle White.
"Uncle?" she asks in confusion at the same time as I ask, "Father?"
The man in question just breaks out into laughter at our interaction, meanwhile the figures walking behind him - consisting of two older men and a woman, only one of which I recognize, Lord Gray, along with an assortment of guards - all look just as confused as Kat and I are, with Damien and Ray not understanding the current events any better.
Everyone turns to look at Uncle White, who just continues to laugh for several seconds before finally speaking, "Don't worry, he isn't actually related to me. His father and I are good friends, and I played with this kid from time to time when he was growing up, over in the Raizel Empire."
His answer seems to satisfy Damien and Kat, but Ray and the people behind the man all still look confused. Not to mention myself.
Meanwhile, the guards behind me - despite their attempts at looking uninterested, are obviously listening in with curiosity.
I frown at this before asking, "Why didn't anyone tell me you were a King?"
Uncle White - or rather, Drezar, the King of The Drezar Kingdom - laughs again as he walks up to me and pats my head like he did when I was a kid. "Because I never saw a need to."
My frown deepens at the physical contact before he retracts his hand and says, "Anyways, I should probably introduce you to these three."
He then turns around and points at the man directly behind him, who also has a scruff of a beard, with a mustache and a sharp looking face while saying, "This man is Lord Gray."
I simply nod my head without a word at that.
Yeah, already know him.
It is a bit of a surprise to see him here though.
Although, I guess he is a Lord serving under Uncle White, so it makes sense that he would be here.
That thought reminds me of my recent revelation before I find myself both curious about why Lady Fox isn't here and happy that she isn't at the same time.
I'm broken from my thoughts as Uncle White turns to the other two and says, "And these two are Lord Darius, and my personal assistant, the High Knight Rachel."
The man - who is the only Lord of The Drezar Kingdom that I have had absolutely zero interactions with, whether via proxy or otherwise - has raven-black hair, with extremely dark eyes. He is wearing an outfit that is honestly rather similar to my own, with full black, leather armor and a black helmet, and he has several knives and daggers stored around his person.
I guess he is a scout, similar to Kat.
When I turn my attention towards the King's assistant, I find her watching me as well with an interested look.
Is she interested because of what the King has spoken about me?
Anyways, she is wearing a full set of silver armor, with no helmet to be found. She has brown hair and equally brown eyes, with an oddly innocent looking face.
Odd because of the fact that she is Tier 4, which means that she is anything but innocent.
Uncle White turns back to me, and I take that as my cue to introduce my own entourage to the others.

Yes he does, sorry about that. This chapter was written after a hiatus. I just changed it.
