GLEE 02X12 REWATCH PARTY

Comments

I totally forgot that Darren being straight is not common knowledge! xD As someone who was a fan of Darren from his "A Very Potter Musical" days before Glee, I knew he was straight coming into Glee, but he truly does embody Blaine so well. I just saw him in "Maybe Happy Ending" on Broadway and his character still sounds SO Blaine coded (think crazier Season 5 Blaine lol), it was so thrilling to watch as a Gleek.

“DARREN CRISS IS STRAIGHT?!?!” I think I laughed for a 5 solid minutes. Yes he is. But I believe a very fluid straight (like maybe straight but shit happens?). I dunno. I just found that hilarious. Darren did have to come out as straight when Blaine became a bigger and bigger draw for Glee. He’s referred to himself as “culturally queer” a few times. He’s just a really great actor who isn’t hung up on what is masculine and feminine or gay or straight.

I don’t remember Sam and Santana dating. For me Mercedes and Sam were end game. Also Sam was always dumb he literally convinced Quinn to kiss Finn because he thought it was suspicious that she hadn’t which caused her to cheat on him like that’s a whole dumby 😂😂😂

Now that I’m older I didn’t notice this before but Kurt is really the best character in the show he’s the most fleshed out and when he’s being unreasonable it still is self aware and has the sense to apologize. He is very courages and a genius lowkey very emotionally mature. He has his moments sure but over all he’s the most consistent writing wise and I’ve grown to appreciate him more now

Darren has portrayed multiple other gay characters including Hedwig and Andrew Cunanan in American Crime Story. He portrays gay roles so well everyone is always shocked when they find out he's straight lol

I think since we’re all having so much on this rewatch, it should continue to the shows end. Plus I’m loving the shared experience with everyone and I’m curious to see your 2nd reaction for the later season. And I have lots of fun facts for those! I feel like this is the episode that the writers decided to keep Blaine as a regular because it’s the first time we get any sort of depth from him. Up until this point, it’s been Kurt’s mentor only with little to no flaws. Also, I love the sleepover moments! The scenes we get that show the characters being regular teenager are some of my favorite. Moments that focus on them eating lunch together, shopping, etc. It feels like the cast hanging out and it’s so heartwarming. Finally, I actually wish that Finn and Quinn didn’t get back together. They have good chemistry here but that bridge really burned last season. I think seeing her relationship with Sam continue and maybe her being single for longer would’ve been good. Especially because the writers didn’t let Quinn be single for very long. And yes, Darren is straight. He’s had to come out as straight multiple times. He and Mia married in 2020 I believe and have 2 kids. A girl named Bluey after his dad’s eyes, and boy named Brother. And I’m not kidding, those are their actual names.

Mercedes and Brittany had me rolling omg. But yes, everything was messy. And Tina was a little messy just in a different way. Left Artie for Mike (implied it was cheating because it was while they were at Asian Camp), fell in love with Blaine despite him being gay, and later made out with Sam all to end up back with Artie. Mike was absolutely the least messy of the core group. Also, I love this Finn/Quinn stuff. I say it all the time, but I can't help it. I think it's nice seeing them together because IRL Cory and Dianna apparently had a really good friendship, and I just think it's cute. I think they had such good chemistry in character, and that's probably part of why.

Tina and Mike got a little messy in the way that Tina cheated on Artie with Mike but they definitely didn't get as messy as other characters

Jay Johnston

Yeah I think there was. I know Darren criss said he won’t ever take a LGBTQ role again cause he doesn’t want to take away from the actors who actually relate and identify as such.

Wrenretro

yeah, and I don't know if I remember correctly, but wasn't there controversy because he's straight but was playing a gay character on glee? kind of like Kevin playing a handicapped character, but not being one in real life? I feel like that recently was discussed too on social media.

Yami Pantoja

I always kind liked Puck and Zices. I wish she was in season 3, but I also feel like they wouldn't have written her well anyways.

Turnip Crazy

"Mercedes and Brittany" was said with such certainty. 🤣

The Glee relationship/hook up/make out web rivals the one on The L Word. It’s a huge mess, but I love the drama of it all. I am glad though that as they get older they do chill out.

Annie Willow

yeah darren criss is straight i feel like everyone who watches glee gets shocked by that at some point
