SPOILER - blood & guts.

Hello there, all of you. And a very very happy Easter to you all!

I have two versions of a shot in the film and I'm not convinced Youtube will like either of them. Do you see videos getting pulled down for having blood? I just don't run across much of that on my feed.

I personally started my "career" doing blood-drenched art for a gory point and click horror game named The White Chamber so it's all good with me, but what do you think?

Anyway, here's the shot - AVOID IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPOILERS OR GORE-

okay, here it is:

Or the more conservative version:

I'll certainly be interested in hearing your thoughts!

SPOILER - blood & guts.

Both? Just make two version of the film, a directors cut with the non-conservative gore in? I'd go with the gory version though as otherwise it looks too obscured where his head is.

I personally think the second (more conservative) pic feels better atmospherically while still conveying the same point, but that's also in a vacuum. I think I'd have to see it in context to decide. I'm imagining that this is slowly sliding in to view as the camera rounds the corner so to speak. I it's a jump cut though, like if the camera is focused on a character's reaction to walking in in this scene, and then it jumps to their point of view, then I think the first one is better.

You can always use the "black and white" gore. I mean, she is having a traumatic view, tunnel vision in black and white, and magically blood turns into chocolate! XD Just kidding (or not so much, B&W narrative maybe too cheaply dramatic for the short), but it will for sure pass over youtube criteria. I really like more, as said by other patrons, the not-show-just-imagine-the-worst approach, it's always much more powerful. Apart from that, when will it be released? Internet is right now on fire with Romulus... so releasing now is a perfect timing with all the attention and not the highs and lows of the movie actual release

'What's the matter, the food ain't that bad!'

I agree that the conservative version is actually scarier. Your imagination often conjures up scarier thoughts than what is actually there.

Mohammed Alsaadoon

I agree with Phillip. It's scarier because it adds more tension to the scene. Then the peek around the corner can lower the tension down when they see its just a dead body and suddenly cause it to spike with some other discovery.

That woman must have gone through a mind blowing experience.

I actually think the conservative one is more scary…it feels more voyeuristic peeking around the corner, which fits with the weird pseudo-sexual themes of the first film. Less is more sometimes.
