BIG (Exciting and Overdue) Changes!

With a new year comes a new era for the channel, and I can't even begin to describe the relief I feel as I write these words. Since day one (even on TSL), I've done everything myself, from channel art to editing, management and troubleshooting. I've gotten advice from others, but the work has always been me, and it's taken a huge toll. I love doing this, but like anything, there are aspects of it that are more difficult than others. For example, I'm not an editor (not a particularly good one, anyway). It's never been my strength, and when I say video editing is painful for me, I'm not exaggerating. It's like trying to type on a keyboard wearing mittens. Technically possible, but slow, frustrating, exhausting, and demoralizing.

There are a million things I've wanted to do on this channel that I haven't been able to, because I've been doing it all myself, and particularly after having to deal with family tragedy the past few months, I've become painfully aware of just how much it's affected me. So, since I'm finally in a position to be able to outsource, that's what I'm doing!

I'm working with a video editor right now, and while we still have a few details to work out, and we're going through test cuts to make sure I'm happy with everything, I can already feel the weight lifting off of me. My biggest goal in growth with this channel was to get to the point where I could hire someone else to edit, so I could focus on filming, and engaging with you! Editing drained me so much that I haven't been able to do as much of either of those as I've wanted, and I'm so excited to be able to focus on the parts of this I love most going forward.

I'm also working with a graphic designer/animator to overhaul everything from my video graphics, to channel art, animations, and yes...merch! Merch has been a goal for so long, but has been one of the many things that were left hanging because I could only do so much. Hiring professionals has been something I've wanted to do for years, and now I can actually do it.

The next week or two are going to be crazy for me as I get the new pieces arranged and settled in, so even if it seems things are a bit quiet, Movie Night is a swan right now--serene up top, but chaos underneath. I started this process in motion back in December, but with the holidays, it took until now to get things going properly, and there's a lot to do. This has been a long time coming, and will probably be the biggest piece that helps me avoid burn out, and I know you guys will be happier, because this means more of everything--more reactions, more interactions, live streams, and so many other things I've been wanting to do. I can't wait to share all of it with you!

Happy Forking New Year!!!!!

I always get concerned that content creators I follow stay on the verge of burning out. I'm really glad to see that you're taking steps to avoid that. If there's anything we can do to help you feel safe, welcome, and motivated, please let us know. ❀️

I'm glad that you feel able to get the help you need, in this case that you have the economic freedom to hire an editor. I'm not surprised that it isn't for you. I have a very good friend with a degree in theatre, although she specialized in backstage work. Give her an opportunity to be creative with makeup, costuming, or even sound design and she's happy as can be, but while she has the skills for public speaking it's not her preference. You've always seemed the opposite: you want the camera and the feedback, the backstage work is not where you shine. There's nothing wrong or superior with either role, some people are just better suited to be creative in different ways.

w00t! I'm really glad you're finding a way to make things easier on you. I love watching your reactions, and definitely don't want you to burn out. That's so easy to do when working for yourself (if I just work ONE hour later tonight, I can get a whole nother video out!). Hopefully this will make it easier for you to take more personal time and just relax and enjoy life, too!

I’m happy for you!!! Happy new year! I look forward to seeing more reactions from you! I hope everything works out just as you envision it!

It's a big forking credit to you that you have done so well to get to this point, so well done and congratulations! I hate to break it to you, though. Don't ecpect this to make your life any easier. I'm sure as your quality and output increases, so will the demands of your time and energy, but I have no doubt that the rewards will be more than worth the effort!
