I’m definitely an animal fan so a pet rock wouldn’t do it for me, although it was funny to see Gregory mourn his pet rock. When I was growing up my elementary school class had a pair of guinea pigs, Caramel and Hazlenut. It was up to the teachers to arrange for the guinea pig care and the only time kids were around them is if their parent was a teacher at the school. I think the guinea pigs spent most of their time in the year one rooms (first grade) but the whole school could visit. (I honestly only remember their names because my mum kept a drawing of them I did)
