Check your setting for offline play. That is also required.

Did you just call me a slur?

It's crazy because not all the people that comment on the State of Play or are out here on Twitter are PS fans. I have been under the notion that a lot of Xbox fans are attempting to sku the naritive with these games. (Ala anti PlayStation Reddit and Discord threads) I don't understand how they say PS fans are fanboys and love everything about PlayStation and yet the same time they are hating everything that is coming out. This seem to contradict what is out there and, the only way that happens is with outside opinions. But there is no way to to really get accurate metrics on YouTube and Twitter. This happens on both sides. Leaks and rumors that go to far ruin a lot of this for everyone. This is how the console heads look at it not like oh this leaked and, this leaked they are looking at it as not everyone has their nose so far up reddit threads. Waiting for something to release is way better then looking for so many crumbs that when we finally get the meal it's like oh this is ok I have had taste this and, want a taste of the something new. I have not instead I am waiting and enjoying it for the first time. Glad to see that the LSM crew are doing this as stated with Death Stranding 2.

My PS5 is 100% set as my primary one and I couldn’t play single player games during the outage. I was getting the license verification error. I’d try to reverify licenses but would be told I needed to be signed into PSN for that. So something else was definitely amiss. Then randomly like an hour into the outage I was able to play KCD2. Then in the morning I got the couldn’t verify licenses error again and was unable to play until PSN came back up that time. Immediately checked to ensure I had my PS5 set to primary and it already was…

The First time that spazmatic wolverine (as Mr. RayGun stated) Johnathan Davis did it was the first track on the Life is Peachy album the song was Twist.

You must not be a very diverse gamer if you walked out of that not being intrigued with at least a few of those games

Colin, to your point that we now have more clarity than ever on how everything went wrong so we shouldn't expect a large influx of first party games out of the ether - you are absolutely correct, but that doesn't ameliorate the feelings of frustration that I and others feel about some of Sony's most talented studios wasting half a generation on live service slop. I love third party games, and thought the State of Play was solid! But I'm in the Sony ecosystem vs Xbox, Nintendo, or Steam because of Sony first party games, and for me I'm going to need to see a few more solid announcements (like Intergalactic, Ghost of Yotei, Saros) to reinstill the goodwill that Jim Ryan and Herman Hulst burned through. I definitely agree on the overt negativity of the online space right now and hope this didn't contribute to it - I just think there are some valid criticisms to be had amongst the "L's" and "go woke go broke" drivel.

Allan Sweeney

can you guys cover a presser, and not complain about people complaining on twitter for almost 20 minutes?

Joey

Collin, I saw a post on X about Greg going political during a gaming award show, which led me down the rabbit hole of what happened to you after your infamous joke. Can you talk about how these small battles the left was willing to die on led to the complete dismantling of the bureaucracy in DC? Similar to the meme about how Gamergate led to Trump in 2024.

Horizon upgrade is available for $10 because that game was given away COMPLETELY for free. Days Gone is still locked behind a PS Plus membership.

Fat Gotenks

yeah there are far too many games of quality for any of us to ever get to them all, these "there are no games to play" people are not real. I tune them out.

Guybrush Threepwood

The State of Play was really good imo. I also agree with Colin that the constant online negativity is getting old and extremely annoying. I couldn’t imagine living my life thinking that everything is woke and that everything sucks. I blame Twitter and the always online edge-lords that live their miserable lives trying to ruin everything for everyone. Very sad state of affairs.

Colton McKinney

That's true. The expectations are always set low by Sony or the Game Awards or Xbox. But Even I'm guilty in my mind of thinking we might get a crazy show with tons of new first party games with gameplay. But those days are over. But our monkey brains still wish it would happen.

I could be wrong, but I feel like they even tried to set expectations for State of Plays as a lower tier, but people have just ignored/forgotten that for reasons like you said.

TL

With all due respect to Dustin, I disagree with his stance on Days Gone (leaving people, that got the original ‘free’ out of the $10 upgrade for prev. owners). I have seen it on sale often, and I understand that some do not buy games that they already have through +, but I do (because I enjoyed the game and wanted to support it). My take is that there has been ample opportunity to get in on the $10 upgrade and if you haven’t to this point, fret not, it will be on sale again.

Directional Joy

Got the Life is a sick ass song idk

Garrett

Those games are out there being made and released by other studios. You don’t have to wait on PlayStation.

Jose Mauricio

Yeah. The State of Play was very underwhelming.

Pan Ic

Also, 3:09:20-3:09:47 is quite possibly the most profound and deeply cutting question you can ask of these people. And I cannot think of a sufficient rebuttal, no matter how hard I try. I agree with you of course, still I pride myself in being able to see the other side of things yet I cannot do so here.

Electric Soup

A lot of it is pent up frustration with PlayStation first party. Sony has built a brand here and they are not delivering for the people who above all are fans of those ambitious single player games. Games like Last Guardian and Shadow of colossus are long gone, Ragnarok/Horizon was in 22, so until Death Stranding 2 or Ghost hit it will have been three years where the only game of note for this crowd was Spider-Man 2. It’s a long time. 25 and 26 are really crucial years to shift the mood and conversation.

Gonçalo Ferreira

I think one of the reasons the discourse around State Of Play is always so weird is people are remembering how crazy old E3 shows were. They haven't accepted that those shows will never happen again.

Flint Dibble and the Dibble singers

I must say Colin under your example of COD not working.. you had said that people could still use the store and also download their games. So why wouldn't the person with the disc still be able to download the "update"? Shortly after Dustin confirmed your example is not the case for most physical games, further proving the advantage of physical games or at the very least proving they aren't as useless as you seem to believe. There is also the problem of many single player games requiring an online connection to play. I personally could not play GT7 due to the very fact that it has such a requirement. Now that is more so a different conversation about developers/publishers choices to make games requiring an online connection. It's an adjacent, yet related issue in this case.
