2024-06-23 02:15:51 +0000 UTC1hr 30 Gene saying PlayStation struggles to have multi generational IP; God of War started on PS2, had PS3 titles, and obviously PS4 and 5 titles. Gran Turismo has also literally been on every generation. I think they balance franchises and new IP relatively well (even if The Last of Us has 2 unique games between 5 releases 🥴)

Also, Dustin is correct in that Ico is trash and so is Mario 64 and Mario in general. Love you Gene but hot take.

Lets not forget Jason Schrier got his stardom by being EXACTLY that, a leaker that ruined several announcements for years(actually the company of the guy he interviewed). Tom Henderson is only famous for leaks, but bet you theres more talented journalists out there. The confusing thing about leaks is it can all be avoided; literally do not follow these people or look for content regarding it. I had 0 knowledge regarding the direct because I dont follow any Nintendo news; it was all news to me. I really dislike the idea we have to protect team’s hype. When Scorsese, Eggers or whoever is making a movie they dont make it a mystical thing, they just tell you Im making ____ and let the work speak for itself. Why must gaming be different? Who cares about a company’s hype?

2024-06-19 19:42:03 +0000 UTCWith respect, Sony has nurtured many IP for multiple generations, Gran Turismo and God of War are as long running as Ratchet and Clank from the PS2 era. This supposed problem is a mirage, Sony has no issue making, nurturing and selling franchise titles, if anything they’re the most careful of the big 3 in being mindful of not overdoing them. Sure we miss Jak and Sly, but like Colin has said, the last thing I’d want is ND to go back to making Jak and Daxter games. I don’t agree with Gene’s sentiment at all in this respect.

2024-06-19 11:03:06 +0000 UTCMaybe they didn't, but I love Ico because of the environmental storytelling and music. The castle is unsettling and eerie yet beautiful. Something about the atmosphere and ambiance gives me a sense of vertigo during the platforming sections, which I believe held up when I replayed it back in 2022.

2024-06-19 04:30:32 +0000 UTCGene you should definitely go back to The Last Guardian. Sure, it's got it's flaws, but the story is so damn heartfelt. Not to mention how impressive ( if at times unweildy ) the programing for Trico is. Love that game!!

2024-06-18 21:09:57 +0000 UTCAs a longstanding SMT fan, I'm enjoying Vengeance a great deal. I do think some of the QoL improvements take things a bit far in terms of trivializing the game's difficulty - at least, by contrast. Specifically, the ability to save anywhere is a bit much in my personal opinion. With that being said, the changes by in large are excellent and I think this version will do a lot for people who have historically found the core series intimidating. In the interest of seeing the core SMT series continue, I think it's important that the games become more accessible for a broad spectrum of players.

The only thing either of them said to defend it was that it inspired other people they never actually talked about what made the game itself good

Stiff janky combat , google/ YouTube videos for a story , repetitive enemies / poorly designed bosses and a lack of reward for exploration really killed this game for me and made the final stretch of completing it a chore.
