I'd like to thank WaluigiToast for helping me out here, suggesting ageusia as the primary reason for Leo's culinary problems. Admittedly I Had been going with "oh, he's just a bad cook" but this has turned out to be such a better idea, tying into Leo's poor health and has given me multiple story ideas.
