Blog - November Begins

I'm feeling a little tired lately, so maybe this month will be a bit more relaxed.

Scummy Apple Fees - 30%

As of November 2024, Patreon will begin enforcing its agreement with Apple - every purchased made on the iOS app will cost 30% more. That extra fee comes out of your wallet and goes directly to Apple & Patreon, and puts more financial stress on you.

Therefore, do NOT purchase a subscription to creators on the iOS app - do it in your browser instead.

As an aside, many creators are going to be forced into the new Subscription Model. Be mindful of this fact when you pledge to creators, because it may introduce new charges to your billing schedule.

I still have time before they force me to change, so you won't be affected here, but the new model will make it so that instead of being charged on the 1st of every month, you will instead be charged every 30 days from the start of your pledge - which will result in multiple charges every month instead of one simple charge for every creator grouped together. Some of you are probably already familiar with this.

Voting Poll

I'll start the next poll within the next few days. It will be for $3 Patrons and above. My current idea is a poll to decide what costume Female Link should wear, with potential choices being: cow-print bikini, Metroid's zero suit, and a kunoichi outfit.

"Oil Painting" Style

I do plan to continue experimenting with this style, but I don't expect to put out as many this month. I started doing it to have fun, but it is a lot of work, and my having fun is fairly unimportant to consumers - especially if it means they get less content. Predictably, it also performs poorly on social media.

But I still want to try having fun if at all possible.

Game Dev

I haven't done any major game development work in a while, so I think I want to make that a primary focus for a bit. Ideally, it would be nice to even do a little bit each day.

I remember mentioning that I wanted to make some serious progress for the game project this year, perhaps reaching a nearly "finished" state. While that's not necessarily going to be the case, it is very clear that I am close to having a solid "Alpha" for the project, bugs not withstanding.

As of right now, I'm in the process of outlining a list of objectives for the project moving forward.

Don't forget to eat & sleep.

Comments

From the game demos I've played so far, I look forward to seeing this Alpha Build you got in the works!

I've loved the oil painting styled pics so far.
