June bonus #3: Game Tech Video issue 5 (June 1988)
Added 2024-06-23 20:07:30 +0000 UTCAnother VHS capture of Sony's short-lived video magazine. This series is becoming increasingly weird, which makes it super valuable in my opinion. It's really great to see an alternate lens into the peak Famicom/early PC Engine era—GTV strayed further from the sanctioned Nintendo view of games and into the more offbeat stuff. And even the games that showed up in both GTV and Famimaga (like the lengthy baseball special) comes off wildly different here than in the other magazine.
Anyway, the big news here is that they've replaced the strange Sophia mannequin with a human, which is either a big upgrade or a big loss, depending on your feelings of clumsy puppetry vs. cute ladies. The bizarre caveman thing is unchanged, though.

Thank Heavens the cave person living in a dystopian, Beetlejuice terrorscape is still intact. Fundamentally vital facet for the series.
