Vineyard Story for June 2022 (ft. Serenity Trebyllec)
Added 2022-07-05 05:08:18 +0000 UTCTurns out this one was way more engaging than I originally thought. I went way overboard with this and there's still more I want to do with this concept. I normally try to keep Vineyard stories in the 2000-3000 word range; this is almost 12,000. This is full-story length. It shouldn't be, but it is. As fun as it was to make this full-story length, it's obviously not sustainable and I will have to try not to go overboard with future Vineyard entries - but there's a chance that any particularly-compelling topic will get a more extended visit, including this one.
Anyways: Seren asks Kira to come out for a meal and some music practice, but with all that tea she had, it quickly becomes something else, and for some reason she just can't bring herself to do anything to solve the tea problem.
Also: So far, I've got two stories involving Kira. Both of them way overshot their initial length estimates. If this happens one more time, then I'm establishing it as scientific law that Kira always multiplies the length of any story she's in at least fivefold.

I mean, that would still count, technically. I do often run over my planned length by a couple hundred, but if my plan is to make a ministory and it turns out more normal-length, then I've gotta blame Kira for it. And, yeah, a lot of other authors use 3000 words for the whole story; I tend to just use that for exposition - which is also kinda why I try to keep these shorter, so I can practice condensing all the setup and still keeping things flowing nicely. Or, y'know, not flowing, considering the context.

2022-07-05 19:28:59 +0000 UTCThe story turned out great! It kind of funny that some other authors consider a 3,000 word story to be a normal length, but for you a 12,000 word is normal length. Those stories aren't bad, but yours are just exceptional. As for the law. What if you plan on making a really short 1000 word story that would just multiply to 5,000 words?
