As in there was a point in time where she didn't even settle for "mixed," but just black and it was...strange (imo). That's why there's that joke about it in SWARM. I can't speak to her music though since I personally choose not to listen, but I agree that music critique has been weird overall. It either gives paid review or personal attack and either way it has nothing to do with the music.

2024-10-31 04:25:26 +0000 UTCthe problem with internet ppl being music critics is that theyâre covert celebrity gossip fodder and they simultaneously want to be perceived as objective and unbiased while also being in the weeds and in stan business and insert that into their reviews when it has nothing to do with anything unless the music tells otherwise, and that type of criticism is starting to bleed into ACTUAL music critique, bc Iâll read a review and 80% of the review has nothing to do with the technical, artistic, lyrical content or even how the artist performs their own song, just the reviewer talking about how X artist didnât talk about their business enough or they talk about it too much, or like Fantano said Halsey has main character syndrome like girl we dgaf review the songs lol, and even with tortured poets, a lot of reviews were like sheâs too over exposed and releases too much music and needs to slow down and give other ppl a chance, WTF does that have to do with the album, not to say you canât have your own personal biases when it comes to certain artists and reviewing, but most of these reviews have nothing to do with the ACTUAL musical content, theyâre just being covert celebrity gossips that has no place in a music review đ

2024-10-31 03:24:28 +0000 UTCI was kinda disappointed bc I thought with the way Halsey was marketing the album that the songs would sound noticeably identifiable to the artist and decade sheâs referencing when most of them donât, and some of the songs sound semi similar to eachother , the only identifiable era songs were the singles, and even though I liked those songs they still sound like diet versions of the artist or decade referenced or not at all, for example, she made a post about one of the songs âLonely Is The Museâ and that it was inspired by Evanescence (a metal band), upon finding out that information after bumping that song for 3 weeks, I quirked my head and was likeâŠ.hmmm, i donât think so lol Evanescence music is identifiably 90% Amy Lee (the lead singer) singing, so if youâre telling me youâre making an evanescence song I expect it to sound like that, obviously Halsey doesnât sing like how Amy sings and I donât expect her to but câmon it doesnât sound like an Evanescence song or even inspired by it, so I get the criticism that it sounds like sheâs kind of a poser bc thatâs exactly what it comes off as, and sheâs not doing it particularly well, thereâs another song thatâs supposed to be inspired by Aaliyah and it donât even remotely sound like Aaliyah or r&b, like pls be serious đ

There were a lot of relevant themes he incorporated and it made sense it stuck. I am unfamiliar with Elton John so I didnât catch the reference but Iâm sure he was inspired by it and even copied a lot from it. The same way cowboy carter had like 4 cover songs from the Beatles to Dolly Parton and others and the country community is trying to understand her personal story in relation to the album. I think Billie gives those interview herself about the music, there are a few Apple Music interviews and a bunch of other interviews she did with smaller channels to describe the story behind the song. I think that the real music people find these interviews for most artists and others just go on YouTube, I feel like they just turned on the radio and became â[REVIEWERS]â
