Hi Imon, I just watched Vengeance Is Mine. This is the episode where Rupert loses his eye and Claire is forced to go with the Redcoats and stays with the Duke until Jamie and Murtagh find her and Murtagh gets vengeance for what happened to Mary Hawkins just to remind you.
Interestingly enough, the author of the book series, Diana Gabaldon, wrote this episode and sticks very close to the book except for a couple things. In the book, Rupert dies, but because of what happened with Angus, they decided to only wound Rupert and in the book, the horses are hiding in the church with all of them, but the show couldn’t find a church that would allow horses inside so they said they were hiding in the woods.
I love the Gaelic prayer Jamie says to Claire while she was sleeping. When she asked what he said, he told her it was nothing because he was embarrassed and you said you wanted to know but there were subtitles, so you should’ve been able to see him call her his white dove and asking God to protect her and the baby she may one day carry from harm.
This episode also made me laugh when Jamie and Murtagh were talking about her note written in Gaelic. I’m also happy they figured out who was behind Mary’s attack. Jamie knew that Murtagh felt guilty for it happening so he let Murtagh deal with him. What’s also interesting is that in the first episode, Frank mentions the Duke and how he died under unusual circumstances.
Diana Gabaldon created Jamie Fraser and we are all so happy that she did.

I looked up what Jamie said to Claire as she lay in bed at the start of the episode. He said "God, shield my beloved, my white dove. And the child that she may one day bear. Preserve her from violence, and from harm. In this place, and every place. On this night, and on every night.
I forgot Angus was gone until the recap, I liked how Rupert was telling stories about him, keeping his memory alive. Then bang! a bullet to the eye, I thought now someone will be telling stories about him, lucky for him they have Claire with them.
When Claire made Rupert an eye patch and said he looked like a pirate it reminded me of the video where you were dressed as Peter Pan from the movie Hook. You said "Never stop being a kid at heart, Never forget". You said it was a beautiful message for parents who get run down with work and stress sometimes. You said when they forget, they end up turning into a Pirate.
I love that, I know it's weird I quote you sometimes, but some of the things you say just stick with me.
This episode took a dark turn when we found out what the Duke did. I'm glad Mary did what she did, I know how that sounds, but there are some people that just don't belong in this world. Hopefully she can draw strength from this somehow, learn to live with it, and become stronger for it.
The things that Jamie and Claire are willing to do for each other, I love that about them. There are scenes of them together that are just so beautiful, but then something always happens to upset that balance. I want just one episode with Jamie and Claire where nothing happens, even if it's just a dream episode. They can explore the Highlands together, I picture them horseback riding in the day, maybe they stop to take a swim in a lake nearby, the water's perfect, they're both just so happy to be together, Jamie can't keep his hands off her, we know how that ends. Anyway moving forward, they explore the land some more, Jamie tells her stories of when he was a boy, she tells him stories of the future, it still blows his mind, it makes her smile. Later they find somewhere to sleep for the night, Claire builds a fire, Jamie finds something for them to eat, and then later that night Claire is sitting by the fire and Jamie can't stop looking at her, she knows but doesn't say anything. I love the way he looks at her, you can see how much he loves her, he doesn't even have to say it, but he says it anyway, he tells her how beautiful she is, how nobody makes him feel the way she does, and no matter what, he will always do whatever it takes to protect her, to keep her safe, because he loves her, he always will.
I so needed this tonight, you ever just have one of those days. It's days like today when I need your channel, something to look forward to, a chance to be happy, if only for a moment. Thank you for this Imon. <3

When he was praying over her as she slept, he was saying basically, "please protect her from harm in this place and every place and please protect this night and every night. And protect the child she will one day bear" (that's when he reached for her stomach area.)
