The Legend of Korra 3x10 - "Long Live the Queen" Full REACTION!!

I see you two are starting to become Red Lotus followers! I feel like most fans do tend to agree with their philosophy that is presented. I myself have my criticisms. I don't think chaos and lack of society is the right answer to the ills of society like power hungry leaders and class division. Instead i think its better to give power to the people through democracy as well as trying to create a structure with checks and balances on the power of leaders such as critical and independent journalists and fair laws of governance and law. Still not a perfect solution. One likely doesn't exist but i think this is the better direction over all. They are definitely dynamic and charismatic though as you mentioned! They're personable and are given fleshed out personalities, even down to their personal relationships and unique capabilities. Seeing the death of the Earth Queen was brutal and badass. A way of using Airbending most could have never imagined.

Yeah this episode certainly made a lot of sense to why they kind of moved to online viewing. While it wasn't explicit in that particular death, it was very dark. I am curious, with only three episodes left, will you be doing the two episodes together like normal? Or would this be a three episode viewing? Either way, I am super excited to see those reactions, it's always a joy to watch :D

"He doesn't want to kill her?" Yeah alright

Leaders are needed absolutely, but not kings or queens necessarilly. At the end of the day democracy will always be preferable, despite it being the worst best solution to our issues of governance. Anarchy leads to chaos, which is exactly what the Red Lotus want. However it's excellent writing in the sense that this is a group of people who hold immense power by the sheer virtue of how they were born, and thus are people who would thrive under anarchy. The weak however would suffer and die without the support that states provided their citizens. The fact that Avatar manages to illicit these conversations from a "children's show" is one of the most impressive things in writing to me tbh.

At the base level, what zaheer wants isn't a bad thing, but kings and queens and leaders are needed in the avatar world. Not everyone can be a leader. There are people who would rather have someone come up with rules and regulations for them instead of them living life in their own way. Of course the way the queen was doing it was horrible. Favoring the higher class and abusing her power by locking up anyone for the simplest mistakes.

In terms of motivation the best way to frame it would be to call them anarchists. Unlike Amon that wanted a truly "equal" power structure, and Unaloq who wanted a theocratic power structure, the Red Lotus wants no power structures whatsoever. Think the relatable motivations behind the villains make LOK stand on par with the first series, even if some aspects like side character development were done better in that one. But I put that down more to the time/episode count they had to work with rather than the quality of the writing, as this and next season might be my favourites in all of Avatar. Can't wait for the next few, waiting for that season finale is gonna be brutal!

Time for the breathtaking episode lads.

Yeah, you're glad about what Zaheer does now, let's see how you feel about what comes from this chaos... Yes, once the dust settles, let's see what rises...

Trainer Red
