The song that was playing at the beginning is "Mi Cucu." I used to sing it all the time when I was like 3 and living in Mexico https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M0lzdD1nb8

I think we mostly agree on these things. While Chuck is definitely framed as the bad guy of the show, relative to other bad guys, Chuck is pretty small potatoes. Most of what I dislike about him is that he is just sort of an asshole to his brother, but I understand his jelousy. Like I said before, he has probably spent most of his life being overshadowed by Jimmy. As much as I hate to admit it, if I were in his position, I might have some resentment too (especially if I had some good reasons to be angry with Jimmy like stealing money from our parents). So I think he is one of the least "evil" antagonists in TV. I genuinely feel very sad about the way their relationship seems to be going. I also agree with you about his love of the law. I'm sure Chuck really likes being a lawyer, and he is, apparently, a very good one. So I don't think he became a lawyer soley to best Jimmy at something. That condecention built up over the years he watched Jimmy mess up his life. Because of his jelous nature, Chuck started to think that he was better than Jimmy (because he was a well-resprcted lawyer and Jimmy was a con artist) and wrote him off. I imagine that it must have been very frustrating for Chuck when Jimmy started practicing the law. He was probably thinking: this is MY thing. Now Jimmy is going to come in and undercut my accomplishments like everything else in our lives? He has a picture of who Jimmy is and nothing is going to change that because to admit that Jimmy is capable of change would be to admit that Jimmy has beaten him once again. It's a pretty childish mindset. Obviously Jimmy just wants to be a lawyer because he looks up to his big brother, but even lawyers can be childish sometimes. Jimmy is an extremely intresting character in his own right, but the first few seasons are really more about seeing (but not really understanding) Chuck's feelings about Jimmy than it is about Jimmy himself. I don't want to talk any more about Jimmy because I don't want to spoil any of the shows ideas.

@Forrest That's a very good point and take. I figure that's where the show is going. I just personally wouldn't quantify his character as being "evil". I should have said this in my previous post but I do recognize Chuck as being a "villain" in terms of the show and I certainly don't condone any of the actions he's taken. From what i've seen so far I don't think his character is so defined by his feelings towards Jimmy. It seems he genuinely loves practicing law and not so much he's just trying to "one up" his brother. His actions/reactions come off to me as more he's insulted and annoyed by how easy Jimmy gets through life and always takes the easy route. Which is why he was so surprised that Jimmy actually became a lawyer and passed the bar exam. But again felt insulted/annoyed when he found out that he had done it via an internet course. And I don't think it's just Jimmys actions when he was younger that tainted Chucks opinion of Jimmy. It's something that's been going on for years, even into adulthood. Jimmy is a loveable fuck up but he still continues to fuck up and it doesn't just effect him but the lives of others around him. I am interested to see what happens between Chuck and his wife. I got a feeling that will really be the fulcrum that reveals Chucks true nature. Thanks for your post Forrest.

Chris

Just for you own sanity (and so you know you aren't crazy) hating chuck is definitely the direction the show is pushing you and, I think, totally justified. Chuck can't stand how easy success comes for Jimmy. Jimmy has always been the popular one. The favorite friend, the favorite son, the favorite co-worker. So Chuck probably spent his entire life focused on becoming a lawyer so he could be best Jimmy in some way. He has defined himself by his intelligence and success because he has no chance at beating Jimmy's social genius. His jealousy and his defining of Jimmy by the mistakes he made in his youth has bred a disgusting arrogance and condensation toward Jimmy. Seeing Jimmy just jump into it and be so successful pisses him off because it undermines that 'victory.' If Jimmy, my scumbag brother, can become a better lawyer than ME, than what do I have left? what have I accomplished?

Forrest

lol it does feel like we are watching two different shows but honestly not that different. And hey that just goes to show you how great the writing for the series is. Personally I see Chuck (as witnessed so far) as some one who has grown up watching his brother steal, scam and rip others off his entire life, including both their parents. He has devoted himself to the law and has seen his brothers total disregard for it. Which is why he didn't want him at his law firm, making a mockery of the thing Chuck has made his life to uphold. Also, if you want to talk about toxicity, I mean Jimmy went back to Chicago after ten years and within 1 week his best friend died lol. Don't get me wrong I agree with you on everything about Jimmy. I love the character and he's truly my favorite in the whole "BB universe". We just have different points of view on the Chuck character that's all. I appreciate the response and it did help me to understand your feelings about Chuck a little better. Again like I said in my first post I wasn't trying to be negative. I do apologize if it came off that way it totally wasn't my intention. So yeah, stay safe and I look forward to watching you're future reactions. PS. I got a feeling judging where the show seems to be headed, I'll probably end up agreeing with you about Chuck in the end lol. See you space samurai!

Chris

It is like we are watching two different shows haha. We see Chuck for who he really is a bitter hateful, jealous insecure man. He has hated his brother since Jimmy was a child!! How can you be 20 or 25 and hate your 9 year old brother??? That is something someone who is mentally unstable would do. We talk about this more in upcoming reactions. But with everything we have seen thus far up to his episode we see a man who has always looked down and was jealous of his brother. We never excuse Jimmy for his actions. I actually even said Jimmy should maybe go to jail for some of the stuff he does. We see both sides of the argument. But jimmy has a heart of gold and Chuck doesn't. Chuck would never take care of Jimmy if the situations were reversed. Yeah he got Jimmy off a sex offenders list because Jimmy is not a sex offender. He made a petty mistake in anger. And those kids happened to be in the car. Again not an excuse but let's put real sex offenders on that list. If I was Jimmys brother or sister I would have helped him too and then cut ties with him because he was too toxic and wasn't changing. But Chuck had to come up with elaborate plans to entrap his own brother to make others hate him the way he hates him. It is disgusting and this comment has me a bit fired up because it is insanity not to see how evil Chuck is. And I believe this will be the theme in our upcoming reactions on youtube. We will get a bunch of comments like this one. And it is crazy making. Chuck isn't just a douche. He is just as bad as Jimmy if not worse but he doesn't do things illegally. Its like Mike said there are good criminals and bad criminals. And Jimmy is a good criminal. Mike does things the legal way, but he is horrible.

I honestly don't understand all the hate/shade for Chuck. He's 100% in the right here. Like yeah he's a bit of a douche but I'm not sure what are all these "evil" things he's done to Jimmy you keep referencing. He's some one who came from practically nothing but after years of school and practicing law managed to help create a multi million dollar law firm. Chuck knows Jimmy is a scam artist and will always be a con man. Of course he wouldn't want him to be a practicing lawyer in his firm, dealing with clients worth millions. That's not that unreasonable. If you had a brother that you knew constantly used racial slurs without a second thought and one day he came to you and said "Hey Imon, can I make a couple reaction videos and post them on your channel" you might have some reservations. As far as the Kim situation. Again what "evil" / "shady" thing did he do? The bank was his firms clients. He did what anyone would do. He never lied, he never said anything bad towards Kim. He literally just told them the truth that yes Kim is the best person for them but his firm has more experience and more people at their disposal. I've been watching the series along with you two so I don't know anything that happens in the future so maybe Chuck does turn out to be a total PoS. But as of now in the series, I really don't understand what he's done to deserve all this hate. Chuck was the one that got Jimmy out of jail and off a sex offenders list, he got Jimmy a job at his law firm. Chuck wanted Jimmy to go straight, he just didn't want him to be a lawyer at his law firm. Maybe it's the quarantine but I have noticed you two getting extra triggered with these reactions. I mean Abi literally got triggered by a girl standing a few episodes ago lol. Anyways sorry for a long post, hope I wasn't being to negative. I am enjoying your reactions and watching the series along with you two.

Chris

Jimmy compromised Kim's morals, she's now just as dirty as he is by knowing and ignoring. It sucks but it's true.

I LOVE Kim!!! And Chuck is El Diablo!

All aboard the "I want to marry Kim" train. I love her humanity. Excited for what's to come!
