End of the Prologue. Such a great title for an episode.

Loved this ride with you guys so much & I can't wait to see your thoughts on the future seasons when they come out

Thanks to the both of you for your reactions. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the series along with you. And what a beautiful anime it is, Askeladd has got to be my personal favorite "complicated" character in a long time. His character arc was a friggin' roller coaster but none of it was for the sake of being shocking or cliche, you can really understand his dissensions and despite everything he's done genuinely sympathize with his character. Abi, Imon thanks for creating content that honestly helped during a lot of craziness.

Chris

I am so so so glad that ya'll decided to watch this magnificent anime :D

:( I've just finished watching from episode 11 today and mannnn now I'm super depressed that it's already over... The voice actor of Askeladd is my favourite throughout all animes, Askeladd was my favourite character in this anime and this was definitely my favourite anime of 2019!!!

Peraha

I... could not wait for weeks to see this entire series xD Had to ascend from $5 to $10 subs ASAP definitely worth it!!! Thanks for the wonderful reactions yall

I agree with the Askeladd part but not so much the Thorfinn part. I could see maybe Thorfinn growing to respect Askeladd in the future but as of the finale, it just seemed like he hated Askeladd and was Furious/Appalled when the one thing he dedicated 10 years for was stolen from him. I personally think that Askeladd dying seemed to make Thorfinn lost and angry being that his dedication to revenge his father for the last 10 years was dying in front of him. Thorfinn has saved Askeladd's life/intervened in his fights just so he could be the one to end his life. I could definitely see Askeladd looking at Thorfinn as something close to a son but to me it just doesn't seem like Thorfinn had any ounce of likeness for Askeladd, but i could see him having respect

Agreed

Fun Fact: As Knut/Canute and Thorfinn both are healthy Teenagers around the Ages of 16 it would have been a problem if it didn't ;)

It's cool you guys loved the ending sequence so much, particularly with the flashing images on the blade. The anime director, Shuhei Yabuta, was very nervous about how he was going to adapt that page from the manga, but tweeted that he was so relieved at the positive response it got from viewers. Here's the panel for reference. ( https://s2.mangabeast01.com/manga/Vinland-Saga/0054-034.png ) Though this series didn't get the attention it deserved, the likelihood of a 2nd season is much higher now that WIT Studio is no longer doing Attack on Titan. Without spoiling, all I'll say is that the story arc following this is absolutely incredible, and I think you guys would adore it. Loved your reactions to this series, keep up the great content.

Season 2 going have a time skip. After this episode, I rush to catch up in the manga and realized how different all the character look, especially Canute. Let's just say Canute testosterone level went up....

Also to the people who say that Askeladd and Thorfinn didn't care about each other, i fail to see how you can still think that even after watching this episode. Yes, it wasn't a healthy relationship, but they still did care somewhat for each other. Askeladd could have easily told Thorfinn that Floki was the one who ordered Thors' death and kept him on the path of revenge, but he chose not to. Why? So Thorfinn could finally get over all of that and start a proper damn life. Thorfinn meanwhile, when he catches Askeladd he goes "You're going to die? You?", he's in disbelief that he of all people would die because he's grown so "attached" to him, in a weird way (and also because Askeladd is strong af). Also if you look at Thorfinn's face at 9:58 in the reaction, you can see he's confused af. One side of his face is angry and still wants revenge, the other is sad at the loss of a father figure - and he himself doesn't even realise he views Askeladd in that way. This isn't live action, faces are drawn in specific ways to covey feelings. Not to mention all the times Askeladd tried to teach Thorfinn lessons, particularly when he told Thorfinn of his backstory of how he killed his dad. There's some other manga stuff i can talk about too, but won't. Lastly, the scene where Askeladd is dying fades to complete white with just the two of them (Thorfinn and Askeladd) in the shot. You know when else that happened in the show? When Thors died. Thorfinn lost both of his fathers in the same style of scene. All in all it was weird relationship, but they did care for each other in a twisted way.

Don't forget. This is the prologue

Bruh i never normally cry at stuff, but this episode fucking killed me lmao. The amount of time i've rewatched Askeladd's death scene is....a lot lmao.
