Cassowary Studies

They have such a neat shape, with their big feet and skinny legs. They almost appear to not have any wings at all, which to me make them look like goofy muppet creatures. Plus those luscious lashes..... What a neat animal!
The featherless body studies were mostly guesswork, because I couldn't find any pictures of a featherless cassowary. I ended up using ostrich photos/studies as reference.
Fun Facts!
- The cassowary is often labelled as the "World's Most Dangerous Bird," due to the serious injuries they are capable of inflicting with their talons.
- Although not found exclusively in Asia, they are considered Asia's largest bird.
- They are also the second largest land animal in New Guinea.
- The largest recorded Southern cassowary was 6'3"!
- The males to all of the child-rearing, including brooding the eggs and caring for their chicks. They are also smaller and less vibrant than females.
- They are capable of creating the lowest-frequency bird call currently known.
- They have few natural predators. Currently, their greatest predator is vehicles.
- There is evidence that the cassowary may have been domesticated by humans thousands of years before the chicken.
- The recently discovered Corythoraptor bears a striking resemblance to the modern Cassowary!
