Reservoir Dogs - Full Length Reaction

today we're diving into Quentin Tarantino's filmography, starting with Reservoir Dogs!

Reservoir Dogs - Full Length Reaction

Comments

This is one of my favorite Quentin Tarantino movies alongside Pulp Fiction (1994). I even own the 1997 DVD of this movie as a double-sided disc with the Widescreen (2.39:1) version on Side A and the Full Screen (1.33:1) version on Side B, the latter is in open matte.

So stoked that you’re starting your Tarantino journey now. And with Reservoir Dogs too. It’s such a strong first movie. One of my faves. Can’t wait for you to get to Pulp Fiction. What a wonder that was for me when I first saw it. It made me want to be a director/screenwriter. Though, that dream fizzled out soon after. Anyway, great reaction. Keep up the good work.

May be a long ride for you, but thanks for your plan to react to the Tarantino movies. Enjoyed your reaction. I agree this movie is somewhat like a play. Leave it to Tarantino to mention John Holmes in the opening scene. When I was in elementary school (circa 1970 -- 20 years before this movie was released) in Texas, I would say the counting-out rhyme "eeny, meeny, miny, moe, catch a ['N' word] by the toe..." I had no idea what I was saying. Later, was not uncommon to hear the "N" word among my white classmates in high school (circa 1980 -- 10 years before this movie was released). My grandfather used the "N" word. My parents did not allow us to say the "N" word, not necessarily because they strongly objected to the word itself, but because they knew the word had become objectionable. Below are the Tarantino films I have seen ranked by my personal preference. I like all of these I have seen. Even though I have Reservoir Dogs ranked lower, that doesn't mean I don't like it. Again, I like all these listed below. 1. Pulp Fiction (1994) [AFI Top 100] 2. Jackie Brown (1997) 3. Django Unchained (2012) 4. Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019) 5. Inglourious Basterds (2009) 5. Reservoir Dogs (1992) tied 7. Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004) 8. Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003)

In October 1994, my Senior year of college, I went with a few friends to see Pulp Fiction at the Lenox Square Theatre in Atlanta, GA. We knew instantly that we had just watched a masterpiece. As a group, that film kept popping up in our conversations for many, many months. While it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact moment I chose to become a cinephile, it’s hard to argue the impact that Pulp Fiction had on me. For that reason, Quentin Tarantino will always have my respect as a filmmaker… and my thanks. I'm glad you're taking the QT journey.

Thanks for that reaction, Camilla. I really enjoyed it. The film's budget was so low that the actors were asked to bring their own clothing as wardrobe. Mr. Orange's apartment was the upstairs to the warehouse where most of the movie takes place. The filmmakers redecorated it to look like an apartment to save money on finding a real apartment.

Good job Camilla. Can’t hardly wait to get home and watch your reaction.
