Thanks, Laura 😊

Thank you! And that's a shame about the spinoff 😩

Thank you thank you πŸ””πŸ˜Œ

Tyler Alexander

Thank you! hahah sorry about Jarvis πŸ‘€

Just watched your Homecoming reaction and had to (re)sign up on here to see Band Candy straight away - one of my favourites, for all the kinds of reasons you picked up on. This episode even more than most bears multiple rewatches, it's such fun, with deeper thematic explorations too.

Clare. That is awesome. :) I've met Armin at a convention (many moons ago) and he was fab. Randomly I'm friends with his niece. I have so much respect for him as an actor and a person. To meet Robin and Tony is primo. That's so cool. R.I.P to Robin. Taken far too soon :( -- I love Robin as Ethan. He was the PERFECT dark foil for Giles.

Giles in eyeliner - perfect! If you don’t already know about his stint as Frank n Furter in Rocky Horror, it’s worth looking up! Great commentary as ever, looking forward to the rest of season 3 😊

I had the privilege of meeting both Tony Head and Robin Sachs at a convention and was instantly struck by how they essentially had the opposite accents to each other / their characters. Love this episode - and 100% agree re: Armin Shimerman.

I like your thoughts as usual because you really analyze each episode in depth. I will just say that I agree with you particularly on one thing: Giles is hot indeed. I won't say anything further because I have already expressed that I have a little crush on him^^ On another note, shame on you for making me notice Jarvis. Since you mentioned him (it?) I couldn't see anything else... And by the way, I love your rings, especially the serpent one on your right hand. Take care of yourself and I hope you will continue to appreciate the show more and more. In my opinion there is not a single bad episode in season 3.

The Giles KICKIN' ! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ And you have the timing down for the bell in the credits perfectly now! πŸ˜‚ Agree that the 'adult' characters must have had so much fun with this episode. I especially love Kristine Sutherland (Joyce)'s eye rolls and gum chewing in every scene. And shout out to the hair and costume departments - they could have gone over-the-top with 'teen' outfits, but the subtle details like Joyce's hair and Giles' earring and eyeliner are so much better.

constant fundraising in all my schools when I was growing up too. The candy bars became the most successful thing. Now as an adult, I still buy a few candy bars anytime a parent brings a box to work trying to help their kids raise money. Best candy bars ever to be fair. Kinda like the girl scout cookies of candy bars imo.

Well Hello Jarvis - Nice to meet you and welcome to our Buffy world. And hi Tyler. I absolutely adore this episode. I love seeing Giles and Joyce make merry together. And Agreed! This Giles is lovable. All of Giles is. Anywho - that was fun. Have a lovely day and even lovelier week. :)

Love this episode. Always a blast. Can never have too much Ripper. He's quite hot. I love all you pick up about The Mayor's sort of grayness. He's responsible in some ways and also doing blatant evil in other ways, makes for an interesting dynamic. I think in his mind his intentions are always the best. Trick is an underrated character for sure. Also loved what the actor does with Trick.

Such a fun episode, and as always such a great and interesting analysis from you! Season 3 is full of excellent episodes, I can’t wait for the rest!

They never have money for the arts, but they somehow have the funds for sports. My kid's school, I had to rent my kids trumpet and had to pay for school concerts in order to fund instruments, etc.

Dutchkel

I can't look at Jarvis without laughing out loud now, sorry!

I love this episode. You can tell the cast is having an absolute blast. The actors have mentioned in interviews how much fun it was to film. Anthony Stewart Head (Giles) even gets to use an accent much closer to his own when playing the young Ripper. Fun fact: he actually coached James Marsters (Spike) on his English accent (since Marsters is American), which is part of why Spike's accent, while not perfect, is one of the more convincing attempts by an American actor. Armin Shimerman (Snyder) is a fantastic actor. He's a prolific character and stage actor, and he trains other actors. He used to have the cast over to his place for table reads, which makes it even more awesome that he gets to really cut loose in this episode. He's best known for playing the iconic Quark in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, where he shows incredible range so this was light work for him. Speaking of Giles, you reminded me of something when you mentioned a spin-offβ€”it was almost a thing. There was a plan for a show called Ripper, set in England, and it got close to pre-production. Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts between Anthony Stewart Head and Joss Whedon caused it to fall through. I still mourn what could have been. I really enjoyed your comments on the Mayor, but I’ll have to bite my lip to avoid spoilers. Let’s just say he’s much more than a mustache-twirling, one-dimensional villain. You’re in for a treat. Great reaction, as always!

Your bafflement at the kids raising money makes me chuckle lol. It isn't that they are trying to make a profit for the school necessarily. They're trying to teach the kids to handle money and work to earn things, so they are working for their uniforms. The school doesn't keep any leftover money. Or well... I can't speak for all schools systems actually. My school was an Independent school system, so we didn't get money from the state. We HAD to raise money for everything lol. If we had money left over, it usually went to something else within that program. If we raised money for band uniforms and had leftover money, that money would go for other things for the kids in the band. Also, our school principal was the city mayor lmao

This is one of my all time favorite Buffy episodes and, of course, Giles is a huge part of why it’s one of my favorites! I loved your reaction and thoughtful commentary as always.

Laura

I'll admit, first time I watched buffy I was just a wee little lamb, and I can't believe I missed how unbelievably swoonworthy Giles is - especially in this episode hahaha! Definitely one of the most fun episodes of the series, glad you enjoyed it

Crystal Racklyeft

One of my fave β€œfiller” eps of the series! I love how you take the psychological approach to each episode, and trust me a lot of them have a deeper meaning! As for Jarvis, you should put googly eyes and a scarf on him 🀣

Zach Davis

I just love how they use the sickly sweet background music for all the scenes with Willow and Xander - like we're all meant to be loving it. The editors are literally trolling us...

Jack

It's fun that the Ripper accent is closer to ASH's real accent.

Corey

"Seed plan... no, not gonna say that." I died laughing for a solid minute. Thanks. :)

Dipper

This will be interesting 🀣
