2021-11-06 22:52:46 +0000 UTCSomeone noticed that the bully at the office in chapter 16, who was eaten by the morpha in chapter 17, had the same surname as Kaito, Ishikawa. The theory is that this person was a relative of Kaito's, possibly even his Dad (it would fit as he seemed to be the same age as Jin's Dad, meaning Kaito would have been a toddler at the time), and that Kaito grew up hearing how this relative was eaten by a Morpha and that is why he is such a morphaphobe. It might just be a coincidence, Ishikawa seems to be a fairly common Japanese surname and Kaito could just be an asshole but I thought the webtoon commentator put forward a neat little theory. If it's true, that would make this outcome ironic as Kaito would have ended up like his relative for the same reason, being an asshole. I kinda hope it's true as I would sort of like Jin's Dad to interact with Kaito, after finding out about Jin's bullying, and for Jin's Dad to see that a.) the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and b.) to give Kaito some home truths about his Dad (not that his Dad deserved his fate, that was awful for anyone).
