Not sure if backpack kid was strictly necessary to prove that but at least the way I see it the line doesn't come out of nowhere

2025-08-04 18:22:52 +0000 UTCBackpack kid is immensely creepy, but he does set up the relationship the students have with the heathers. ( Metaphorically. They don't all want to kidnap the heathers.) The way I interpret it he exposes that people want to be close to them, but only for selfish reasons. They want a relationship with a Heather, but only to use her, aka photograph her (e.g. for attraction or status) and then leave her (tied up for the rats) Veronica even says to her mom that she's befriending them just to get her through high school.
