Instead of just showing a few progress pics I thought I'd try out the time-lapse feature in Zbrush while I worked on blocking out the sculpt for the shark.
I roughed in a basic shape from a sphere then converted that to a low resolution mesh to use as my base. I prefer working this way because it makes is much easier to tweak proportions on the fly (I do this a LOT) and helps for posing later on. The rest is basically just refining and checking different angles against reference, I always spend a good bit of time really nailing down the proportions because it's the foundation for the entire design.
Anyway this will give you a little bit of insight into my process, I'll leave this vid unlisted but if you're interested in seeing more I'll keep recording the sessions and put it all together into something properly.
