I think Avery and Milo would eventually understand that Danny isn't the one to be blamed here. But the question is - how long would it take?

2026-01-31 20:07:26 +0000 UTCA wonderful chapter! The encounter of Danny, Avery and Milo is so cute and then it gets worse. But it better that Avery now knows the truth about his brother.

2026-01-31 20:04:25 +0000 UTCThat line was hilarious. It was also funny to see the contrast between the shock of someone new to this group's dynamics and the non-reaction of people from that dorm.

2026-01-31 08:55:40 +0000 UTCI forgot to say one thing. Barring Danny from the Secret Sex Club was the done because of his grades and was a good idea for that reason. But I think it could also make Danny start to deal with his depression, now that his main distraction is gone. He's been using sex to avoid thinking about it, which isn't a solution.

2026-01-31 08:52:03 +0000 UTCThe best line in this chapter happens pretty early: As Chris laid in a daze with a dopey grin spread across his face, Tyler shook his head slightly and whispered, “Jesus fucking christ!” “No,” David said with a crooked smile, leaning in to nuzzle against the other boy, “Danny fucking Chris!” This is hilarious. And I think the teachers did the right thing! Danny needs to learn his priorities. Finally, “Yeah,” Milo shrugged as he pulled on his hoodie, “But it was, like, fourteen years ago of something. Did they even have the internet back then?” Milo here should be Avery.

2026-01-31 04:58:00 +0000 UTCAs for Rob, actually I feel for him... I know the feeling that, at age 15, seeing your friends happy with their relationships and feeling nobody loves you. Though for me it was a bit more complicated since I was quite confused with my sexuality that time... (And honestly... even Rob has already had a relationship but I got nothing at all at that age) I'm not saying it would be good if Rob going back with Jazz, but I think that's something they both need to learn from, Jazz learning to be more mature and Rob learning to handle his relationship and (jealous) feelings.

2026-01-31 04:54:58 +0000 UTCOf course Nicky's grades were going to be low with how much he didn't sleep. He would have probably done better if he had studied his usual amount (not much) and slept enough. Now I hope he learned the lesson and will study for the actual GCSEs before they start, but then sleep properly during the exam week. At least one good thing came from this, Gray finally learned the truth about his father in regards to Nicky, even if Nicky remained stubborn. I don't know what will happen between Gray and his father now, but he deserved to know. Then there's Danny and I expected it to be bad, but not this much, since his baseline grades are higher than Nicky's. But it does make sense, he probably didn't sleep much more Nicky, didn't bother with studying in the time leading up to the mock exams, and had a whole philosophy of not caring about them. His brain has been focused on a single thing since Christmas, sex. This is probably a coping mechanism to not think of his depression, but this isn't the way. He needs to face the things making him that way, it's affecting the rest of his life. I think Finn may be ignoring Danny to show him how it hurt when Danny did it to him, Danny has no right to be mad at him for doing the same thing he did, and, so far. I get not saying it at the start, but he should have told him after the Daniel replacement nightmare. showed him magnitude of how much Avery was hurting. So it's natural for Avery and Milo to be mad, but it won't last forever. Danny was starting to feel better in regards to his depression, but now multiple bad things happened. I feel like he's about to fall further into depression than before. I still think Rob and Mikey will start dating in the last chapter of book 5, just like 2 other couple did in the last chapters on the previous 2 books. So him getting back with Jazz probably won't last long, which isn't surprising when his reasons aren't a good basis for a solid relationship. It's probably going to get messy, as everything between Rob, Jazz and Luke always does. I wonder how Luke will react, probably not well. But trying again with Jazz and it not working is probably the way he's going to drop his stalker shit that's affecting Rob's relationship chances. Josh had great grades, it's a bit improvement. He even had the same average as Rob, who normally does better than him. It's interesting how desensitised he is to talking about suicide that he's capable of making that dark as hell joke. It shocked me when I read it, but it makes perfect sense that he'd do it. On the other hand, the 12 year old kid dying of the cancer returning is awful. Both because it's someone Josh cared about and very young, and because it reminds Josh that there's a chance of his own cancer coming back too.

2026-01-30 23:29:00 +0000 UTCSo much in this chapter to talk about - but I'll refrain until others have had a chance to read it. I'll only make two brief remarks. We finally see Avery learning about his brother, and Danny really needs to let Levi know that Avery is now aware of it. And in the midst of so much anger and sadness, we did have two beautiful scenes between some of our boys - Mark and Josh, and Danny and Rob. Looking forward to reading and replying to other's comments soon.
