Don't forget to vote in the poll! Keep in mind that the poll only shows raw votes. I calculate the weights later. Be sure to vote by the end of the month!
I've been working on getting as far ahead as possible this month. The goal has been one piece of artwork every 2 days. I have a bunch of stuff sitting here and it felt weird not having anything posted this week when I have a lot to show. So I'm doing a character intro for the next "Random" character.
I wanted to do both a schoolgirl and cheerleader, but both would be random characters for the university. So I decided to just make them a little more complicated variations. Both of these are college students over 18, I'll talk a bit more about that later. I made the cheerleader version first, so let's talk about the cheerleader first.
There's going to be two spots you can find a random cheerleader each day. You'll be able to one in the gym and one in one of the classrooms Which classroom and which version will appear will change each day. There's 12 total variations of the cheerleader, 9 normal, 2 uncommon, and one rare. Just like with the Random Skank, the normals are the same 3 variations with white, tan, and black skin. However, one of the uncommon versions is a secret variation. They don't spawn at the school, and only the uncommon version will spawn. They'll keep the same spawn rate as an uncommon though. Speaking of which, since there's fewer variations, spawn rates will be different. Normals will have a 50% chance of spawning. Uncommons have a roughly 33% chance. And the rare has a roughly 17% chance.
Since I showed the rare last time, I'll go ahead and show it again. This is the rare cheerleader.
This is the head cheerleader. Since there's only one head cheerleader, I thought it would be appropriate for her to be the rare. But don't worry, there's more than just those with the red uniform.
Here's the uncommon that will spawn at the school.

I thought it'd be fun to do a pastel goth. This was originally the rare, but I thought having the head cheerleader as the rare made more sense. And at least to me, the head cheerleader should be a more conventionally attractive type. So having the pastel goth be the head cheerleader didn't make much sense.
And then there's also the schoolgirl version.

This gyaru version is a normal spawn, but it's one of my favorites. It ended up being kind of difficult to create variations of this one. Since the stereotypical schoolgirl outfit is usually white top, pleated skirt, usually a red a one (well red plaid really, but plaid is kind of a nightmare to do in 2D). That's one of the reasons I decided to do both a schoolgirl and a cheerleader version. Both have the pleated skirts, and I chose a pose that I could more easily make the variations without too much more work. The hard part will be finding a scene that has the clothes but doesn't require too much detail work. I had considered finding a scene and just making them nude, but then the cheerleader and schoolgirl versions would be identical in the scene, and I hate when games do that. Giving a different outfit just for the scene to be identical, making the outfit kind of pointless.
Anyway, the rare for the schoolgirl is also a pastel goth. Since I didn't have to worry about the head cheerleader thing. It's kind of the same as above, but in a different outfit, so instead, I'll show off one of the uncommon versions.
I had to do a cougar variation again. The idea of a woman in an outfit she's way too old for is just one of my favorite things. It's also an uncommon or rare variation that makes a lot of sense for these kinds of outfits. You really wouldn't see an older woman walking around in an outfit like this. Just wanted to share, in case anyone else is a fan of older women in outfits they're way too old for.
The schoolgirl will have 13 total variations, but will have the same spawn rates. Mainly because, unlike the cheerleader that only spawns in the university (except the secret one), the schoolgirl will appear in three different areas. The university, the apartments, and then one either downtown or in the commercial district. I haven't decided yet, I want to see how cluttered the areas are with another random girl walking around. Each one will have a different uncommon, since right now I'm doing a different uncommon for each area a random character spawns in, so there needed to be one more variation. I'm probably going to shuffle around the spawns every update or two though, just for fun. Should keep things a little more interesting and unpredictable.
Biggest Difference -
The biggest difference between the Schoolgirl and Cheerleader, other than their outfits, is that the schoolgirl you can seduce at tier 1, right at the start of the game, and either bring them back to your room in the Neighborhood or maybe bang them in a storage closet (I haven't decided which yet, it depends on what the scene turns out to be). But the Cheerleaders are too good for that. Being cheerleaders, they're a bit higher status and will only talk to you if you have your own place. So the schoolgirls will give the same amount of exp as the random skanks and have that level of difficulty, while the cheerleaders will give more exp and be harder.
Inspiration/Design Process -
While there wasn't a specific character that inspired the Random Schoolgirl/Cheerleader, I wanted to talk a little bit about how and why I designed them this way. They were primarily just inspired by the sexy schoolgirl and cheerleader halloween style costumes, rather than an actual schoolgirl or cheerleader. Since doing designs for this kind of character can be a bit... dangerous. Leaning too hard into being young and cute can make them look too young. So with this design, I wanted to be sure to avoid that completely. I still gave her somewhat cute facial features with the more rounded eyes, to help give her a somewhat younger look, but I made sure to make the body looked fairly tall and completely developed. I also made sure to keep their head on the smaller side. I didn't want anyone mistaking them for a teen. That's why despite the name, there's no doubt that these women are all college girls. I did have to cut one of the ideas I had for a variation because of this though. I had wanted to have a version with braces, but while they still mostly looked fine and there's plenty of women in college with braces, I didn't want anyone to be able to point at that and say they're under 18.
Then with the pose, I wanted to try something new. Like I mentioned in the monthly update, I'm trying to do more varied poses. Having her bent over like this shows more of the character and makes her appear taller. Doing a more side/behind pose, also made it a lot easier to make both variations. If I had done it from the front, it would have been significantly more work. Since the schoolgirl is wearing the sort of stereotypical white collared top tied together to expose their midriff and have lots of cleavage and the cheerleader top completely covers their chest and also has writing. So this pose ended up working really well.
As for why I decided to do the schoolgirl/cheerleader next, it's part of my current goal of filling out all of the areas. I had considered doing the Random MILF next, because MILFs, but ultimately decided against it. Mainly because the university area was exceptionally empty, with just Ms. Hartley and Valentine for a while. I added in Rinko and a random skank out front in 0.1.3, but it still felt very empty, especially inside. It's a college campus, so it should be a lot livelier. So doing the schoolgirl/cheerleader made sense to do next. That's also why in v0.1.3 I added in a lot more random guys to the area too. To help fill up the space, as well as give little hints about more hidden stuff in the game and upcoming characters and storylines. So doing a Random MILF wouldn't really help. Especially since there aren't too many areas a Random MILF can be right now. I'm sure I'll have at least a couple at the apartments, and I can do one in the commercial district and/or downtown, but those areas don't really need more characters right now. And I can't add more than maybe one into the neighborhood, since that needs to be almost all unique characters.
Anyway, with the addition of the Random schoolgirl/cheerleader, the university area will get a lot more filled out. There's still two more types of random characters I'd like to add to the area though. A random teacher and a random girl on the swimteam (not sure what to call them yet, but that's why there's a pool in the gym area). I may have the teacher have "coach" variations, but I'm not sure yet. There should really only be one coach per team, so it makes more sense for them to be unique. I only ever planned on adding one coach too. But we'll see. Otherwise, once I include the rest of the MMC characters (and one coach if needed), the area will be effectively done.
The way I have things planned, the Neighborhood/Commercial district is the sort of beginner hub for the game. That's primarily where you spend your time and where you can find women to seduce women and the beginner job to work. The women in the neighborhood especially are meant to be easy and are there to get you strong enough to be able to win against Mirai and get the apartment. When the area is completed, you should be able to just unlock every scene once, and then be strong enough to beat Mirai. Or very close at least. Then the University and Apartment areas are meant to be the hub for the apartment tier, with everyone there being seduce-able after getting the apartment. Then other areas are meant to have a mix of women from multiple tiers. Places like the Beach, and later, the hospital. Further along, I'm planning on making the office building downtown and the second neighborhood the hub for when you buy the house.
I originally wanted to focus on finishing up the Neighborhood first because it's meant to be the beginner hub, but even with the introduction of random characters, there's no real way to speed up developing that area. Since like I kind of mentioned earlier, there needs to be almost entirely unique characters. It's your neighborhood that you grew up in, so having more than maybe one "random" character living there just doesn't make any sense. It makes sense for you to have at least passing knowledge of most everyone, which is why I want most of them to be unique characters. Being houses and having the women be inside of them, it also doesn't make sense for them to ever change. They live there. It would be really weird if every day a different person lived in a house lol. So I can't just do a "random" character and throw a few of them in there to fill out the space. It'll get there though.
Updated Ms. Hartley -
It was driving me insane so I've redesigned Ms. Hartley to be more like her Teach Me appearance. I was about to start working on Ms. Tyler and continuing the MMC storyline, but I really didn't want the first impression of the storyline to be the original CG. It was easily the worst design in the game imo. Her original character CG file also got corrupted, so I took all this as a sign to go ahead and redesign her.
For reference, here's her original Teach Me appearance. I used this as the reference. I gave her mostly the same pose and everything.

And here's the new character CG.

The only thing I really changed is that now she's got more cleavage and her bra is showing. Also her expression and lips a little bit. It's a lot more obviously the same character and much better than the monstrosity that was her previous design. I still kind of hate it though lol. I just can't seem to win with Ms. Hartley. Idk if I'm just too attached to her so I'm more hyper critical or if it's because I'm pretty burnt out from working almost every day for the past couple of months causing a dip in quality (only day I haven't worked since the initial release is the day Dawntrail launched), but it didn't turn out like I was expecting. Again, way better than the old one.

And that's what's important right now. I still need to update her scene, but that will just be changing her hair, some colors, and taking away the shiny parts of the skirt. It'll still be slightly different because of the rolled up sleeves and partial midriff showing on the back, but I don't think those small details are a big deal. Of course I say that and it may bother me when I start working on it lol. We'll see what happens. Ms. Hartley's new artwork will be implemented in the next update.
It's over -
It's been a while since I've done a thicc design, so that's going to be the next one that gets announced.
Anyway, I hope you like the random schoolgirl and/or cheerleader and/or Ms. Hartley dedesign and look forward to seeing them in game in the next update! One last time, don't forget to vote in the poll!
