Meet Skadi - The Ice Queen - v0.2

This week we're back to working on v0.2. Meet Skadi, the Ice Queen!

Skadi is part of the lab storyline. She has complete control over ice and likes to feel the cold. She took over her world with her sister, Freya, and turned her half to ice. She may seem cool and collected, but she actually has a bit of a short temper and get excited pretty easily. She likes to be worshipped as a goddess, and only lets those who pledge themselves to her live. Everyone else is frozen alive, turned into a snowman as a warning for all non-believers.

Skadi's Inspiration - 

Skadi isn't based on one person in particular. I was trying to think of ways to have beings from another dimension who still looked like humans, but still with some kind of supernatural element. Then I had the idea for an Ice Queen type of character. From that I took inspiration from Emma Frost and of course, Elsa. I originally had more Elsa influence, with her even having the side braid or a pulled back bun, but it looked way too similar. I don't want the mouse to shut down the project, but I did want her to have some influence, so instead I gave her the short hair. I still held on to the influence a little bit though, which is why she has her bangs the way they are. Then the clothes were heavily inspired by Emma Frost. The version I think of when I think of Emma Frost is the hellfire club version with the half tube top half corset with the long gloves, thigh high boots, cape, and then just panties. Which is where the top part of her dress and the gloves comes from. I had thought about giving her a crop top and panties with the thigh highs, but I wanted Freya and Skadi to have similar designs, so I went with the dress instead. I had then thought about giving them the same body and clothes with the off the shoulder dress. Especially since both Emma Frost and Elsa have that same kind of look with an off the shoulder top. But ultimately decided against it. They're meant to be sisters, not twins, and I didn't want to make them exactly the same.

From there I designed her to be overall pale and have bright colors. I tried making her dress sparkle a bit, like it was covered in snowflakes, but I didn't like that after putting it in, so instead I made her clothes somewhat shiny. To give off a shiny feel at least. Then for the face I gave her some blue eye shadow and blue lips. I tried giving her red, and while I did like it, with the short blonde hair it gave off a bit of a classic hollywood vibe, I thought it looked too normal. Skadi is from another world and wields ice magic, so I wanted to give her a little more of a unique vibe. I also tried giving her blue/white hair, but it was a little too much. So I kept her blonde. Then finally, I made her fairly thin to lean into the ice motif a bit more. Since ice can look fragile and weak, but actually be exceptionally strong, and that's what I wanted for Skadi.

And then the name "Skadi" is mainly because I named Freya after a norse goddess. I thought it would appropriate of her sister was also named after a norse goddess. The norse goddess Skadi is nothing like this one, but they are the norse goddess associated with winter, so I used it.

I haven't decided which one yet, but just poll winners are getting scenes in v0.1.3, so it'll be one of them. Anyway, I hope you look forward to seeing Skadi in game when v0.2 drops!
