Updates returning this weekend

Okay party people, updates will be returning this weekend!

As of a couple of hours ago, I am officially done with uni. I have yet to find a day job and no longer have school projects to worry about, so I'm going to have a significant amount of time on my hands. I'm going to ramble for a bit about plans going forward if you're into that.

Like I mentioned in my last post, my #1 priority is going to be getting Waifu Wonderland 0.1 out by the end of the month. My plan for now is to do the normal art post for this week, but otherwise take the rest of the week off and just do whatever I feel like. Then next Monday I'll be working on Waifu Wonderland as much as possible to get it out as quickly as possible. According to my docs next week should be the last art post for 0.1. Then I just need to finish sprites and then setup the game so that it's stable. Stuff like blocking off unfinished areas, rewriting any dialogue that doesn't make sense anymore, and making sure there aren't any game breaking bugs or anything. I haven't looked in the game files for a while now, so I honestly have no idea how long this will take. It could take a couple of days, it could take a couple of weeks. But either way, there should be a build of the game out by the end of the month.

I originally was planning on releasing the build here on patreon early, like described in the tiers, but ultimately decided against it. For one, no one is signed up yet, so just releasing the game isn't taking any kind of benefit from someone who's paid already. But there's other reasons too. I also don't expect people to sign up for early access to a game they've never tried, especially when it's a 0.1 build. Just seems a little unreasonable. Then on top of that, it's hard to really advertise the game when there isn't a game. So I figured it'd be best to release 0.1 to the public as soon as it's ready, and then all future updates will get released to patrons early.

Like I mentioned in my last post, when Waifu Wonderland releases, I will be working on other projects too. After some careful consideration, I've made some big changes to some of them though.

2. I was originally going to focus a bit on getting that Twine game done and released shortly after Waifu Wonderland. Since it's basically done. But I've decided against that. I'm still going to slowly work on it for fun, and will eventually release it, but I think that it could bring some negative publicity that I don't really want affecting Waifu Wonderland. Even though I wont be advertising a patreon in it, afaik all of the animations in the game were released for free already, and it will have full credits and direct links to support the original animators, I know some people aren't going to care enough to play the game to find any of that out. They're just going to see that it uses animations I didn't make and probably see that I have a patreon and start freaking out about that too. So I just don't want that so close to the initial release of Waifu Wonderland. I'll wait until WW has a couple updates then think about releasing it.

3. Then next was the 3D modeling. That's still happening as is. I want to make an optimized bathroom that doesn't absolutely destroy my PC when I use it in VaM. I'm going to make it as low poly as possible and use some other tricks to make it look more detailed. So that's now the 2nd major project I'll be working on.

4. Then there was the 3D animations in Blender. I've got a few that are already started that I'm going to look into finishing. I'll probably end up posting them on Pixiv and using Fanbox as a way for people to support those. If you haven't seen my Pixiv yet, I've been posting censored versions of Waifu Wonderland scenes there. The full release will be uncensored, but I wanted a way to give a sort of preview. You can find it here. https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/101708810

5. And finally there's Alien. The other game idea I have that I also started working on. After some careful consideration, I've decided to rework the game to be a bit more like a real game. I realized that it's basically just Waifu Wonderland, but using VaM, and without battles. I realized that it would probably be pretty boring and I also don't want to just do the same project twice. So I took the premise and combined it with another idea I've always wanted to make. It makes the work I've done on it largely unusable, but I already needed to rework most of what I had anyway. But I've also decided that even after cutting the Twine game, working on 4 projects at once is a bit too much. With that much going on, my attention will be too split to make as much progress on any single project and I want to get things out in a timely manner. I also want to give Waifu Wonderland some time to potentially grow and find an audience. So I'm putting this one on the backburner too. I'll still work on it when I feel like it in my spare time, but I'm not going to be dedicating time to it like the other projects.

So, that means I'll be working on Waifu Wonderland, 3D models, and 3D animations. I feel like that's a reasonable number of projects and a reasonable workload.

One last thing, I'm also looking into making a discord. I primarily use discord just to chat while playing games with friends, so I don't really know how that works or what to offer there for a project like this. So I'm going to be looking into some other discords and seeing what that's all about before making one.

Just wanted to give everyone something since I was gone for a couple of weeks. This week should be the last Sandy scene for this update and next week should be the last Ayako scene for the update!
