Behold, this doubt has arisen from some friends here in the community. It is worth remembering that this decision will impact everything related to the protagonist and how enemies will interact with it.
Generally a female protagonist in this type of game mean something fragile who the enemies will abuse by diverse ways.
Male protagonist may mean that he will be abused in a different ways, if the game is entirely straight, then the protagonist will only be made of "hostage" for straight sexual acts. But if we uses the term abuse to the letter, then even the male protagonist will succumb to the tentacles and phalluses of those enemies.
