Writing count excludes today's writing. I think going forward I'll report the change for Sunday to Thurday, since I generally push out the weekly update before getting the actual writing for the day done.
Word count also conceals the conclusion of chapter 4. I reached the end of the chapter on Monday, and needed a bit of a mental reset before continuing with chapter 5. Also, the final scene got rewritten several times. The original cut worked really well, I think, but was simply too dark and the potential impact to the plot going forward, too severe. Consequently, I rewrote it to soften the scene somewhat. You'll see what I mean when it gets posted in a week or two.
My work situation has changed a bit (again) and I'm not entirely sure how it'll impact writing, but hopefully all continues apace without interruption.
