Hi!! 💕
A while ago I made a video about it, but it was in Spanish. And now I’d like to write a bit about my experience after some months. I feel it could be useful for some of you.
I got the iPad Pro M4 in January. My mom’s iPad broke, so I gave her mine. It still works well for watching YouTube, and I was already thinking about changing mine. I really wanted a smaller screen this time.
My old iPad was 13 inches and I used it for 5 years, but I never got used to the size, so the 11-inch one has been a better fit for how I draw.

I bought the 1TB version because Apple only gives the matte screen if you choose the 1TB or 2TB models. Also, these models have 16GB of RAM. The smaller ones only have 8GB. If you use Procreate and work in high resolution, more RAM gives you more layers, so it’s pretty important.
After 6 months, the screen still looks like new! I don’t overuse it, but I made my last book entirely in Procreate, so it went through an intensive month of daily use and it still looks amazing.
The colors look really good. Although not as vibrant as the regular screen, if I don’t compare them side by side, honestly, it looks beautiful.
As for the matte texture itself, I really like it. It’s very smooth to the touch and doesn’t get many smudges, although the ones that do get caught are harder to wipe off. But it comes with a very nice cleaning cloth. Since it doesn’t reflect much light, it’s also easier on the eyes, especially at night.

For this iPad, I had to get a new pencil, since my old one, even though it still works great after 5 years, wasn’t compatible with the new model. That’s the thing that bothered me the most, to be honest.
⚠︎ The only change I’ve noticed after 6 months is the pencil texture. After some weeks, the slight texture smooths out, and the papery noise it makes fades away. The slight resistance you feel while drawing also disappears. It becomes more smooth and feels less like paper, although it still glides much better than the regular screen when it gets oily.
It just works amazingly well, no sudden crashes, no brush lag… I haven’t found any issues at all.
As for the amount of layers: on a 2500px square canvas at 300dpi, I have 296 layers available. Can you believe that?!
Honestly, over time I’ve ended up using the iPad mostly for drawing. At first, I used it for reading because the dark mode made it a really good reader, and I also practiced my Japanese writing, but I barely do that now. I prefer picking up a real book or a notebook, since I already spend too much time in front of screens. So I can’t really comment on other uses.
Well, it depends. If it’s only for the nano-texture screen, then no, you probably shouldn’t. Even though I really like it, I don’t think it’s worth the extra money, especially if you don’t care about the 1TB storage or the 16GB of RAM.
Although, if you want those upgrades, then for me the extra cost for the nano-texture screen was worth it!
Let me know if you have any questions!! 🙈💖
