BTS O!RUL8,2? FULL ALBUM REVIEW

BTS O!RUL8,2? FULL ALBUM REVIEW

Comments

It was the year of 2023 Kookie was being dropped at school by Seokjin or Yoongi and asking about dating on the album. A cutie patootie

OT7LUVHARBINGER

This album actually came out in 2013 just a few months after their debut!

Layla H

I only bought the Patreon to watch the BTS concerts but Seb being so sweet saying he loves us and we're supporting them so much makes me happy to be there for you guys :) Hope I'm helping even just a little bit

Geach

pleaseeee do more album reactions!!! these are so entertaining to watch!

Emma

(23:22) Seb's point about If I Rule The World and how it's like not something you'd expect from BTS, it's a playful way of them sharing their aspirations/fantasies. Also, there were some theories about inspos from Nas's songs whom RM is a big fan of. Lastly, one thing about BTS is that they shouldn't be put into a box. There's no one way, specific genre, or one theme to them. What matters to them is to be as genuine as they can be towards their music. This is their early years therefore, it's normal for them to dream of having money & power.

clarisseyyyy

To answer Seb's question, it wasn't. The album they were working on during American Hustle Life was Dark & Wild. They were just heavily influenced of Western hiphop. Loved this reaction!

clarisseyyyy

Guys I beg PLEEEEEASE watch Jinny’s kitchen season 1. It was filmed just after the group ‘broke up’ when Jin went to the military and they all had lots of time to do things. It stars V (taehyung) and some Korean actors (one you know from train to busan). They run a small restaurant for like 10 days and it’s such a fun watch. Please let that be your next reaction. Love you guys ^^

sm220900

it’s sad how you guys had listened to some of these songs already bc you guys took SO LONG to do album reactions

Monse A

my favorite from this album is if i ruled the world gives me 90’s vibes i love

Monse A

yes!! I was just about to come on here and say this!! also the performances are so good too! the explosion video def helped me figure out everything tho so I recommend!!

xe

The boys have a soundcloud btw! They have tracks on there from pre debut as well as hidden tracks, covers and songs they chose not to put on other listening platforms! It'll be cool to see you work your way around to those eventually. Thanks for the amazing reactions, i'm loving seeing you guys love them 💜

christina

Outro: propose is my fav of that album too! Severely underrated banger lol 😭

christina

“We on” like: On the CD and on the TV you can see me envy me, it’s a pitty, GG Like RM raps in Cypher Pt. 2 😎

Nicole

“How have we not heard this before?!” Bc bts has 4722616 other incredible songs, as well 😂😭 just the most elite discography

Nicole

If they had a dollar for every time they've been told this, they'd be rich.

Lisa

I can't wait for Tomorrow on the next album !!

rkive_004

Omg Skool Luv Affair is next!! My fave early album!! You guys are gonna love Outro: Propose! 💜 You’re kinda doing yourselves a little injustice by not watching the lives with these songs, but I really hope you’ll also react to The Red Bullet Tour… BTS’s first concert ever! after you react to Dark & Wild (4th album), you’ll see how all of the first four albums tie together in that tour!

Jay18

Guys.. This album came out 2013 still in the same year when they debut

Echaaa

Yeyyyy! Waiting for the next albut, Skool Luv Affair Album 🤩

Echaaa

I really recommend reacting to the lyric breakdown of Paldogangsan by dkdktv to get a better understanding, it's very cool and one of my fav bts songs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l48zU1h00jw

I know you’ll have a massive list of requests but at some stage I’d love for you to react to the Attack on Bangtan dance practice. Young, energetic and talented BTS: https://youtu.be/ncRNKuwOEc0?si=zudkRogZJ4JaMOeT

Frances

Paldogangsan is iconicccc they are all using the accents from their hometown aswell, def need to do an explanation and full reaction to that one!

Serenitee Freitag

📣 12:18 nope. 🙂‍↔️ This album came out Sept. 11, 2013. Just about 3 months (not years 😄), after their debut. 📣

Rina J.

It's crazy because you definitely can see growth from the first album but this was just a couple months after their debut and first album release. O!RUL8,2? was released in Sep of 2013 (they debuted in June as you know).

Jordyn

I need to do this - just sit and listen - and absorb lyrics. I get so caught up in the videos and vibe! Love that you guys do this! Keep doing it :) I love watching with you!

Chanda

grace

@12:20 This album came out September 11, 2013. Three months after their debut. The album they recorded when they were in LA filming American Hustle life was their fourth album Dark & Wild, released August 20, 2014. Thanks guys for this. I haven't listened to this album in a long while. It was fun to go through it with you.

Tammara Glauz

At the beginning of their musical career, the hate and criticism that BTS faced came mainly from within the industry itself, other pseudo artists made fun of them because their company didn't have money or because they made music with musical styles that weren't popular or commercial, some people also made fun of the boys' way of speaking because they didn't sound like the rest of the idols with ac3ntob from the capital. They have always been proud of the cities they were born in and it is reflected in this album. Great reaction guys, it's always fun to listen to music with you.

Caliope

IT ONLY GETS BETTER😩😩😩

1anm1n

You should also look up the "Paldogangsan" stage performance! They are like rival gang members, battling "satoori" rap. Awesome! Love the reaction, can't wait for Skool Luv Affair!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🩵🩵🩵

Denise James

Please react to heartbeat!!!

Amayrani M

Thank you for the album reactions!! Its great to just listen and see the lyrics and get into the songs with out any videos. Yep, I said it, without visuals. 😆

Colleen

CANNOT WAIT FOR DARK & WILD 😩🖤

Moonmafs

If you want to see the context on the Korean references, look at the lyrics from doolset bangtan (website)

Christina

You should really watch the palgogangsan explanation video it pretty good 👍

Deedee Deedee

the ae gu ga line is actually the name of the korean national anthem

g

Ooo you guys should check out the explanation vid for Paldogangsan, cuz it was pretty cool.

Aparna

yall r gonna gag at this album journey like you have no idea how up it goes from here this is gonna be a legendary journey. low-key paring the lyric videos with mvs would be a better idea bc a lot of visuals in the next trilogy need to be paired with the mvs like butterfly and etc

hazard

and watch them all together it hits crazier that way esp since you know somewhat lore via rise of bangtan ; if there’s a vid about the kindustry vs bts beef that would be really interesting and provide more context on the cyphers as they were linked to real life “alleged” situations

hazard

yall should react to the cyphers if you haven’t already. if you havent do a lyric vid performance vid pairing itll be 🔥🔥🔥

hazard

FYI, the album that was made in America is Dark and Wild

Aimi Farah Abdul Latif

So BTS in this album made many statements but essentially the rappers made sure to make everyone understand that the identity of an idol and a rapper doesn’t contradict each other and that you can be both at the same time. "We On" is a reference to the common slang of saying “you’re on”. They respond to the hate by proclaiming how their passion/love is for their music and they do not plan to divert their attention to internet hate from low-lives. In the chorus they rise to the bait, saying ‘we on’, and make the promise that they will show those looking down on them that they are serious and that they’ll continue to persist/fight until they succeed. "If I Ruled the World" was a nod of respect towards the artists they grew up listening to from the 90s hip-hop, that's why they named the song same as Nas' and Ms. Lauryn Hill well known 1996 single “If I ruled the world (Imagine That)”. "Paldogangsan" is overall a promotion to their home country, South-Korea by singing the song in satoori, or a dialects. The title is a reference to the Joseon Dinasty when Korea was divided in 8 provinces. Paldo (팔도) meaning 8 and Gangsan (강산) which refers to the Korean landscape. Overall the song tries to show the diversity of the Korean language but at the same time they are sending a message of peace and unification among the Korean nation. And finally, “Outro: Luv In Skool”, closes O!RUL8,2? as a sentimental song about the infatuation of school love. Throughout the track, BTS reference other songs on O!RUL8,2? from “If I Ruled the World” to “Coffee”. Like a nostalgic montage for the album, “Outro: Luv In Skool” also leads into BTS' next album Dark&Wild where they face the darker, more painful effects of such love.

Yasmine SB

Hey guys, you NEED to react to the episode of “After Inkigayo, Let’s Go to the Snack Bar” where J-Hope appeared! 💜🔥 It’s such a fun and positive episode, it will definitely give you plenty of moments to react to and laugh about! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwDb68ek3oI&t=1177s

Patty Costa

Fun fact: this album actually came out three months after their debut 🤯 Great reaction guys, love these videos!

saff ⁷

Thanks for the reaction, I loved it 💜. please guys react to MOTS ON:E LIVE CONCERT

I’m loving this journey through their albums 💜 The color coded lyrics from this channel were pretty good! I didn’t notice any obvious mistakes like with other channels

Saha

ugh i loveeee these reactions bc u can really see the storyline if u listen too it like this please keep these coming i love it i never heard “if i ruled the world” u guys put me on😛

chanel de oliveir

I'm loving these album reactions! You get to experience what we all did when we discovered them and went down the rabbit hole with each album getting better and bolder. I also love that you're reacting to them in chronological order too. Makes it easier to hear their progression and growth.

Nikia Sarang

One for the money, two for the show is just a kids' rhyme. It could be used as a countdown to a race. How I take it is that it means the race itself - 1= winner, 2= it wouldn't be a show with the competition and its losers. But in BTS' case *I* would imagine it being like 'If I ruled the world, I'd have it all, get lots of money, and then waste it all. Everything will be going my way"

Devyn

Love your interpretation as always and see how they you are getting their messages earlier now. Also as others have said they worked so hard releasing multiple album's each year. Shorter album's earlier and when you get into their later ones they are longer and see more of the indivuals having songs as well. Keep going. Side bar is Charlie alright, make sure you are looking after yourselves as well.

Louise Newton-Gamble

Thank you 🥳🥳🥳

Yes! BTS bomb episodes 🤩

Realllyyy young oh wow

Khaycee Estinopo

💜💜💜

Khaycee Estinopo

So glad yall are finally listening to their discography 💜 bts had so many haters even since debut. Probably more than fans which is why they alr started dissing ppl who mistreated em.

wen

love honest opinion

11 effy

Ok few things This album came out only few months after their debut They had haters even before their debut cause many questioned their intentions of becoming idols leaving the so called underground rap like how you might have seen on Rise of Bangtan series..! also in the song “We on” when Namjoon said “I would make the entire world sing ae gu ga (애국가)” he did not mean like “gu gu ga ga” random lyrics.. Aegukga means “Korean national anthem” so he meant he would make the entire world know Korea and how he would make themselves famous so much so that everyone knows and sings Korean anthem lol “If I ruled the world” is a playful song just like how you would’ve heard Spine breaker, Baepsae, Go go, Anpanman etc., they like to critise and put sarcasm in a fun way always!!!!

veenak

Hi guys, excellent reaction. However, a few points to add here. This album was released in September 2013, 4 months after their first album. These are some of the OG tracks from the band, which we might get back with BTS 2.0. They shot Dark & Wild (2014) in the States. Also, each discography has its own BTS bomb episodes with Dance practice and other stuff, so that might be cool to catch up as well. I would also suggest that you guys read a little bit about the release and timeline of the album, which will help you later when you start deep diving into Bangtan Universe. Hope to see some amazing reactions in future.

Swapna Sharma

💜💜💜

K

paldogangsan is such a genius move tho

R C

o r u l8 2 was dropped during their rookie days, debuted just few months prior.

R C

They’ve done all 4 cyphers a long time ago😊

Nadiine

you always saying "I dont think we know this" makes me giggle, cause now you know maybe 50% of their songs :D bUT ALS Paldogangsan, the cool think about the song is not just, that they rap about their hometowns, but also rap in their respective dialetcs.

Alexa 알렉사

why r u mad?? this was a great reaction, if you dont like it literally why are you subscribed to the patreon

Sofia

Im so excited that y'all are doing album reactions!!! I can't stop thinking about all the songs that I cant wait until you hear!! There are so many!

Daeka

For the song “If I ruled the world”, don’t take it too seriously word for word. Basically, each member was talking about what they would do if they have the ultimate power. It’s kind of a mix of funny exaggerations such as world domination, luxury; and real wishes such as success, freedom and taking care of their families(in Sugas case). “one for the money, two for the money” is just a funny twist on saying it’s all about the money—it just fits the fantasy vibe of the song: like if they ruled the world, they’d be rich, powerful, and able to live out their dreams. But, underneath the humor, this song really shows the mindset of Rookie BTS—hungry for success, dreaming big, and poking fun of themselves while imagining fame and fortune. It’s not as deep as their other songs, it’s kind of like a fun debut-era sort of flex showing their confidence, humor and ambition to be all that💜

Nadiine

They reacted already

ellie

“It didn’t feel bts coded” is crazy when this is literally on their second album. This is OG BTS, you have no idea 😂😂

Mia Fisher

They were obviously monster rookies and all the big companies realized that straight away. Incredible how such a small company group posed such a major threat 🤣

bee

!!

Mia Fisher

A lot of their lyrics require context, as there are major cultural differences (obviously) and direct translations don’t encompass slang or metaphors. For example, the BTS members are speaking in their hometown dialects in the song Paldogangsan, which is why they kinda sound different.

bee

please react to the video respect your seniors and mock your juniors and the bts hardships one to better understand what they went through at that time

Sarah

Seb was close, the time they were in america was O!RUL8,2 was already released. 2 Cool 4 Skool: (2013) O!RUL8,2? (2013) They were working on the fourth album Dark & Wild: (2014) when they were in America.

Mimi

You need to react to V’s A Million Stars. He never released it - just put it on instagram I believe.

Julie Groves

LOVE!

SAKURA

This album came out in the same year as their debut album (2013) which goes to show how quickly they got hate for NO REASON!!! I’m glad bts had the guts to speak up about it then and I hope they call out their haters again in the next album

Mimi

Yay!! I’m so glad older albums are getting all the love, even happier that you’re going in order ( haha ocd) every album of theirs deserves all the love, it’s who they were in that period of time, they were HUNGRY and that grit is why they survived and evolved and became titans of the industry. I became an ARMY when the next album SKOOL LUV AFFAIR dropped and there’s no turning back! 💜💜 I think alot of people are getting to discover the older songs alongside you, so thankyou for this boys!! TTR, fighting!! 🩵

Chris

Tysm for this guys! Definitely watch an explanation on paldongsan! It would help u learn about Korean culture and where the guys come from and their different dialects 💜🙂

Brooke

Are you a writer by trade? That was beautiful, informative, and full of respect and admiration. Bravo!

SAKURA

Great reaction..

zainab rauf

Defenetly watch boracity so you understand the crazy hate they got. They still get crazy hate but back than was crazy. You will understand why they have messages like that. You would never think what crazy shit they went through

I also noticed that you guys looked a little unwell. I hope you're doing okay now since this has been filmed or I hope you're feeling better soon! Sincerely appreciate you guys posting everyday! <3

Rara_OT7

This is such an underrated album, there's so many good songs in here that many ARMYs don't even know about and are listening to for the first time! I've met so many ARMYs that go 'Wow! I didn't know BTS had a song like that' and I'm like you gotta listen to O! RUL8, 2? It'll blow your mind! So glad you guys are going through the albums, it gives you so much more context as you said. Keep up the awesome content! <3

Rara_OT7

you missed the skit

Jessie Wicki

oh nevermind your right!!!

Helen H

But this album came out almost immediately after the first one

Валентина Кабанова

with 'if i ruled the world' its purposely childish, but its about them playfully indulging in bigger dreams, in yoongis verse he starts off talking about really realistic dreams, and its satirical/humorous because compared to namjoons verse, they seem so 'insignificant', but he continues to go on to say 'let me dream big, even if it seems childish/ridiculous'. bts have a lot of playful songs like this, they like to play around with bigger concepts. and regarding the sound, they use very west coast inspired sounds as bts' main songwriters/producers during this time were the rapline, who grew up listening to american hip hop, i'd love if yall could (whilst on this album journey) react to the albums in order including their solo mixtapes, and some members, specifically rapline, dropped their mixtapes quite early on in the bts journey, and i think it would help you understand why their music is so rooted in hip hop, they often refer to hip hop as the start of their lives, it had such a massive impact on their push into music. additionally, regarding paldogangsan, thats actually one of my favourite songs from bts. you probably were able to recognise the wittiness from their delivery but this song might be hard to grasp as theres SO MUCH korean, cultural context. the entire song is based on different dialects and areas in korea, so theyre actually exaggerating/putting on several different accents, delivering lines acting is if they're old men etc, to represent different generations and layers of certain cities, its done so well. the lyrics are literally layered with puns, once you read about the translations it makes the song feel so much more intelligent, bts' songwriting is honestly unmatched, and i love how they almost hide all that nuance and wit behind these really upbeat, fun tracks because for those who might not understand, the song is enjoyable regardless. anyways, loved the reaction, cant wait for you to see how bts, regardless of how long its been since their debut, always stick to their central message in no more dream. its amazing. i also wanna touch on some of your questions regarding their adamance on fighting the criticism, and i love how you recognised how confident, and brave that actually is. esp in korea, where hierarchy rules most of their social standards, i feel like as you guys are delving into kdramas, you'll soon realise that 'respect' to seniors or elders is a massive thing, to the point where the youth are so disdained and are expected to function as robots in order to follow orders or not 'overstep' as a young person, its insane. most suicides in korea stem from school abuse and expectationsl, teachers adding to that quite frequently too. but this doesnt only occur in schools, its also most prominent in the music inudstry too. bts debuted trying to defy these ideas, which received pushback. they promoted self worth, and seeking unconventional ways to success, graduating college doesnt have to be ones sole reason to survive, and topping this, bts also debuted in one of the smallest labels, with no connections or funding. this meant they werent promoted through any media, ,media outlets almost blacklisted them (the top 3 labels in korea aquire most media outlets to control narratives/boost popularity of their idols, its a big thingl, you should read about it) and they had no money to actually pay for alternative promo, so their success, being organic and unexpected, really ruffled some feathers. again, artists like bts having overseas support, even if it was tiny at first, was unheard of. all of the criticism stemmed from classism, envy, and just pure superiority. it didnt feel fair that a group with no access to connections could succeed and build their way up, against privileged groups who debuted with full industry support. even later in their career (all the way until now by the way) bts are still mistreated by the idol industry, and its sad to see, but i think bts have done a great job navigating it. theyre so secure in themselves, and im glad theyre able to do that

t

Thank you for the reaction guys! The "confusing song" also has an english name: Satoori Rap Maybe you could do a video on the explanation of the meaning of the song and watch the live performance? Is actually a lot of fun both lyricially and performance wise https://youtu.be/l48zU1h00jw?si=vpD0SF3V5A6-E-gR

tutter 🐀

Thanks guys 💜

Emine

yeah i really love his flow

simge

in also another song respect RM and yoongi talked about respect lots of people say they respect them but behind the door smirking and laughing about them. kind of like "respect, yeah right" and also I LOVE LOVE how they put people down aren't scared of it maybe because of yoongi and namjoon background but other members aren't afraid too (btw their early career was very focused on rap since they wanted to be a hiphop group but as they grow they slowly changed and it is fun to see how they evolved)

Helen H

They had alot to prove because RM, Yoongi were in the underground hiphop rap scene the vibe is very different and the underground look down at them since kpop idol industry is usually very clean image but then kpop industry look down at them because they think they have a dirty vibe? Like back them swearing as a kpop idol in a song? Very rare but common now but bts are one of the very first also talking about mental health? Most kpop groups back then have no say lyrics, songs etc still is today but what makes them different is the fact they write and very serious topic like mental health where mental health was seen as a taboo idols rarely talk about this/ not supposed to etc because it is not "clean. Etc so they get backlash from both sides but I will say because of this bts is as big as today. Another reason is because bts company back then was very small they were given more freedom (like a ton like how they have a rule of no drunk tweeting etc or drinking on live and of course they ignored it lol they kid of just do what want to do) but they and their company never knew or their goal be this big since they always talked about they knew they were gonna be this big even suga said in a song I am paraphrasing not the exact lyrics but "I want to be in the 34 floor but I end up in the 90 floor etc) and they were struggling because contrary to many think most big group from big companies have a monopoly in shows and their goal is to reach the "90 floor" but bts goal were much smaller than that so they werent very media trained like they said in their book (yes they have a book and I recommend it is actually really good) but suga said they were very "wild" and "untamed" etc but also the reason they were so big in the west is they were so authentic (and yes bts was first more popular than the west than korea) and also their goal was never to be this big their company too (and it is very realistic to be honestly back then in this controlled kpop industry no groups other than bts back then from a small company even won the biggest price in a award show in korea so they kind of just write what they want instead of with big companies they have a goal to be XXX big in 2 years hit this amount of albums etc and get songs from well known composers etc but anyway they struggled so much because like I said the big company kpop company in korea influence so much that they can tell broadcast not to air small companies, bts were barely invited in shows so they started creating on content like vlogging, bangtan bombs on youtube etc like other idols were given places to change every artist have that but bts? In award shows not even given a changing room so they have to use the hall ways were other idols laugh at them and they have to change in bathroom like bts were the definition of rags to riches . (sorry this is alot)

Helen H

THEY WERE so young back here! JK was 16 jimin, jimin and V were 17 almost 18 the other members I don't remember but I think jin was 21 . Actually no if it's their second album then JK is 17, jimin, V 19, Jin 22

Helen H

Guys you'll see more of RM's play on words on future albums, and all I can say is the dude is literally a genius 💯.

Ave 🇵🇭

YAYYYYYY THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH <33333 :DDDD

Helen H

Y'all should definitely look into the paldolgangsang explanation by dkdk tv!! 😊

Gab⟭⟬

While we all always preach about BTS lyrics and their meaning, I think it‘s ok to say that especially in the beginning they sometimes just said stuff to sound cool hahahhaha so in their earlier albums I don‘t think every song has to be interpreted suuuuper deeply xD I think sometimes they just wanted to flex 😌

sanG

Thank you guys for reacting to my favourite album. This album is what made me an Army. Gamsahamnida!

ChelleBelle

This album was actually released 3 months after the first one (2 COOL 4 SKOOL was released Jun 2013 and O!RUL8,2? in sept that same year). When you're rookies you have comebacks quite frequently to keep the audience interested and make yourself known

Sil

The members are from different provinces in Korea, so they each know different dialects. RM and Jin are from Gyeonggi (RM from Ilsan, Jin from Gwacheon), Suga and V are from Daegu, Jungkook and Jimin are from Busan, and J-Hope is from Gwangju. None of them are actually from Seoul, but RM and Jin are in the Seoul metro area

Sandra

you guys forgot the skit noooo

nightchicken

OMG YESS FINALLY THANK YOU GUYS💗💗

Aiesha

Paldogangsan is basically about regional dialects (satoori) in Korea. If you want more context about the songs, doolset is amazing. It’s a website with explanations of their lyrics. In the song, they rap in the dialects from their hometowns: - Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook use the Gyeongsang dialect - j-hope raps in the Jeolla dialect - RM and Jin use standard Korean

Sandra

Boracity explained really well what they went through during those early years. You should react to her video Respect your seniors, mock your juniors https://youtu.be/aOVyPLUd6YU?si=D-uigvNQSi2msXx0

Ellie 🎀

They also have skits in their albums. Please include them in your next album reaction 😊

Ellie 🎀

I’m so happy you decided to react to the albums in chronological order. I enjoyed your reaction a lot 🩷

Ellie 🎀

Please react to bts tomorrow guys

Nobiita 🐞

If you guys want to know more about the hate they got, I would suggest reacting to the Youtube video, BTS Hardships 2013-2021 by XCeleste, if you guys haven't already.

Serendipity0130

Dark & Wild is the album they made in America, while filming American Hustle Life at the same time

Thalia⁷

I second this. Boracity is an amazing channel :)

Thalia⁷

Their second album was actually released the same year BTS debuted in (2013). They put out albums really quickly, and it’s not unusual for them to release two in the same year. Even now, Jin released his two mini albums only 6 months apart

Thalia⁷

I've already requested the same thing about twenty times and nothing! I've already given up on sharing good BTS songs and asking for reactions..

Maria Marques

Late drop from yesterday 😆

grace

You were curious about the hate they got early on. I’d recommend the YouTube channel boracity magazine, which makes great video essays. A good one to start with is “respect your seniors, mock your juniors,” which explains some of what BTS went through in the beginning

Nattie ♡

Thank you so much 🫶I love album reactions. Can’t wait to see you watch BTS’s music evolve over the years

Nattie ♡

Thank you for this💜 Album reactions are the best!!

Reeyu

Can’t wait for you to get to the albums where you can clearly see a shift in BTS’s music💜 And you’re right — this was the time when they especially received a lot of hate, and they weren’t really big or well-known in the K‑pop world yet. Please react to BoraCity Magazine’s video called 'Respect your seniors, mock your juniors: BTS’ lesson on respect' for a better understanding and DKDKTV's explanation video for Paldogangsan, for a better understanding of the song💜

JungkooksNose🌟

Was just watching your JJK reactions, glad to see this pop up

spoopyjhope

oh? early drop!

R C

thank you guys for this, i really love your album reviews

simge

Haha I was so curious how you'd guys react to paldagonsan/satoori rap Its almost impossible to understand the song unless you watch a breakdown or understand the complexity of dialects in Korea Satoori is a word for all the unique dialects/accents all over South Korea. Its kind of like how aussies have the bogan accent versus more polished, and how each state has their unique sayinga/pronunciations. Because most of the boy's aren't from seoul they have a natural dialect. The more regional they get, the stronger it is. RM was the only one who grew up near Seoul so doesnt really have a dialect. Satoori rap is a song that basically let's them sing/rap in their dialect and then RM at the end talks about appreciating the Korean language in all its forms 💜

Wait!! Did I hear Super Tuna slander Ben?!😭 That song is a masterpiece 🙂‍↕️🤌💜🥰🤭🤣

I think this would be a great time for yall to watch Boracity magazine's video called "respect your seniors, mock your juniors. BTS' lesson on respect". It will give you an idea of the type of hate and disrespect BTS faced within the industry so you can understand why they were releasing these songs in their second album ever. Also, please check out DKDKTV's explanation video for Paldogangsan, the song has such deep meaning and it deserves a deeper dive.

So glad you guys enjoyed this! I do wish you’d also react to the "Paldogangsan" explanation video on DKDKTV ( youtube) —it really adds depth, showing the dialects, wordplay, and history behind the lyrics. It’s such a good watch and gives great insight into all the little details in the verses.

Many people say JHope raps like a dancer!

You missed the "Skit: R U Happy Now" which is between "We On" and "If I Ruled the World" in case you wanna go back and listen to it, even if you don't record it. Now that you have heard both "Attack on Bangtan" AND "Paldogangsan" PLEASE, OH PLEASE, WATCH THE DANCE PRACTICES FOR BOTH. THEY'RE SOOOO GOOD. Please also watch the live performance of "Paldogangsan"!

BTS came from a small, unknown company (BigHit), not one of the big 3 labels, so right from debut they were judged harshly. Their hip-hop concept—baggy clothes, chains, strong rap style—was mocked. People called them “try-hard,” “fake hip hop,” or even “nugu group” (nobodies). Many didn’t even give their music a chance, assuming they wouldn’t last. During the 2 Cool 4 Skool era, BTS faced a lot of hate and doubt: 1) They struggled to even get on music shows—if slots were full, they were left out. 2) They didn’t have proper waiting rooms and sometimes had to change near bathrooms. 3) Senior artists ignored or humiliated them. V once said: “Someone was crying in the van, while others were too stunned to speak after they were ignored and humiliated by seniors during their debut days.” 4) RM & Suga especially got hate from underground rappers and the hip-hop scene. “They were called girls for wearing makeup.” 5) RM’s name “Rap Monster” was mocked, and interviewers often insulted them on TV. 6) They were humiliated on shows so much that later they created Run BTS, their own variety program, where they wouldn’t be made fun of. 7) Even their group name Bangtan Sonyeondan was laughed at. By the time O!RUL8,2? came out, they had already felt the full weight of that rejection. But instead of backing down, they answered with this album. It’s like a declaration: “We know you hate us, but we won’t stop—our voice matters.” Songs like N.O and Attack on Bangtan are BTS planting their flag, showing determination to keep fighting no matter how the industry looked down on them.

They had to stop JK rapping because he had too many lines cause of his insane vocals 😭

Coffee ❤️

Ive always seen If I ruled the world as an ironic song. Ive never looked into the meaning but JK's line sums it up well. Basically, BTS were broke for a very long time, for like five years after debut. So them dreaming about being rich makes sense

I can’t wait for the dark and wild album, it’s my favourite

irem

I'm really enjoying your albums reactions so far guys! You seem really excited and share your opinions with us. It seems like you really like this type of reaction especially

Martina Pirro

yes i’d definitely recommend they watch an explanation video for paldogangsan! and even the dance practice too

emma ⁷

Rap line had huge influence on their early albums and vocal line were often there for the hooks and chorus. They've changed that now so that the vocal line gets to shine too!

grace

i hope they make another cypher in the future

Ella

Alot of the clap back to haters in their early stuff is usually toward the underground hip hop scene in south Korea. They have a massive underground scene and RM and Suga were both big players in it. The whole scene put so much shit on them for deciding to debut as idols.

grace

When BTS started with 2 Cool 4 Skool, they were new — scared, and trying to find acceptance. They were criticized because of their looks, their company’s size, their genre. They worked hard, tweaked things over and over, and often felt small in big spaces. Then comes O!RUL8,2?, and you hear a difference: they’re more confident in speaking out. The lyrics are sharper (for example N.O). They’re directly challenging societal expectations more. You can hear their fear turned into anger turned into determination. ARMYs often say that O!RUL8,2? is the moment BTS declares: ‘We know you doubt us, but this is who we are, hear us.

Yes guys, even early on they received a LOT of hate. If you remember the early episodes of TROB it was shown there. I remember on music shows they didn't got any changing rooms so they practice their performance and change their clothes in the hallway beside the restrooms and even all that they didn't even complain 🥺 and look where they are now. so proud of them.
