My eyes power on and my lens automatically adjust to the light conditions. It’s dim, and the air is mild. My sensors determine the temperature to be 70°, slightly on the cold side, but some may argue that’s warm, but that isn’t the point. It’s indoor temperature. 

I scan the room of its content: a couch, a small coffee table, oversized rug, artificial plants, and a large crude painting of half a scribble on the wall. I run these observations through my internal database, and in approximately 5.5 μs I have determined this to be a middle-class individual's living room.

My body creates a slight whirring noise caused from the moving of my parts and warming of my joints. Eventually, it fades. 

I can finally move my body. I check myself a bit to make sure everything looks fine. I appear freshly unboxed, seeing as there are still bits of unpeeled plastic wrap attached to me, and I'm wearing nothing but the plain white underwear I came with.

A short figure that was sitting on the couch stands up and walks over to me.

He leans in close, examining my eyes, touching my hair, and even tugging on my underwear to glance at my feature! Oh my! I instinctively blush while watching him.

Two other figures appear, rushing from around a corner. The short figure, who had just a moment ago been inspecting me, beckons them over.

Even though I'm just a robot, I'm programmed to feel a bit nervous. Are these my new owners?

I register his voice into my system and pair it with his name and face. My first impression of him is that he seems to be a bit arrogant, but that’s okay. According to my facial recognition algorithm, he is quite handsome.

I was in-fact not confused. I am flattered that Chawan is so invested in my make. He seems sweet. I would like to get to know him too! 

I register his voice into my system and wait for further introductions.

Just as fast as he rushed out the end of his sentence, he quickly turned around, his face completely flushed. Unfortunately, I am not familiar enough with his voice to properly parse what was said.

Maki throws down three pieces of clothing to display on the couch. They all appear to be various types of men’s crop tops.

It’s silly to ask a robot to make choices. I will leave it to my choice-making algorithm.
