Trial Show Recap

Hey guys, just giving you an update on what I've been up to this week.

Last night I performed a secret show  in a tiny bar for thirty people who were quick enough to book themselves in to the very first trial show performance of "Try and Stop Me."

A trial show is in my opinion, the most important part of the process for a comedian when writing a new show.

They're essentially an interactive rehearsal where the comic will go on stage, notes in hand and perform the show in it's entirety asking the audience for feedback along the way. It's less of a show and more of a conversation where the guy on stage talks into a microphone and much more than everyone else.

I went up stage with the show I spent all of 2016 writing, performing and perfecting.

In my hand was about ten pages of notes stapled together. Some were keywords to help me remember parts of the joke, most were just the title of jokes I knew off by heart.

Some weren't notes at all, but the entire joke written out word for word (can't be expected to remember everything the first time round)

I'd like to thank to thirty legends that came to the show even after being informed in no uncertain terms that they would not be seeing a finished project. Your attention and feedback is incredibly important, because It doesn't matter how funny you THINK the show you've written is, you only know for sure AFTER you've performed it.

So, is my show funny?

After performing the entire show in it's infancy, "Try and Stop Me." is definitely on track to be my best work yet.

(Minus a terrible joke about cafes that was cut immediately after I told it.)

The show goes on tour in March/April and I've got a very exciting project coming up that will be released on YouTube while I'm on tour so I won't be taking a break like in previous years.

Can't wait to do this show. Thank you to everyone supporting me on this awesome platform.

Speak soon,

Lew
