The Smiling Island of So'thugakesh

So'thugakesh was a hideous sight; a massive and monstrous floating head, with a long serpentine tongue and rows upon rows of sharp teeth. It was said that So'thugakesh could devour mountains and forests with a single bite, and turn the gods themselves to stone with only a glance. Some believe that So'thugakesh was the father of the first medusa after he married the Grotesque Goddess. He was unstoppable for millennia, causing terror and fear wherever he went.
One day, a great hero, who's land So'thugakesh had pillaged, sought revenge. The hero, with the help of the most powerful wizards in the world, crafted a great mirror and mounted it on his mightiest ship. The hero sailed out into the ocean to meet So'thugakesh. Here, the stories differ. Some say the hero, despite his plan, was no match for So'thugakesh and was instantly devoured, his soul sent to the River Styx. Others say the plan worked, and So'thugakesh, so repulsed by his own visage, shattered into thousands of pieces and fell to the ocean floor. Others still say that So'thugakesh turned to stone and fell to the waves, but continued to float over the seas, beaten and inanimate, his maw still granting a path to hell.
The details differ, but the devil stays the same.
