Kids toss what copper they have into the fountain trying to cast a wish. With all this beauty and peace what could go wrong? (Many things π)
Maybe the person you came to meet is suddenly looks a lot more nervous than the first time you met him. Maybe the fountain has become a portal to the elemental plain of water and creatures from another plane have slowly been making their way into the city. Or maybe you see a dirty street urchin throw their last copper into the fountain and you watch as what ever they wished for comes true.
