LoSP Lore Compendium: Demigod Powers

Half-god, half-man. It is what demigods are. The perfect balance between the divine and the mortals. The best of both worlds. But, as power goes, so comes challenge. Demigods have a challenging life, facing monsters and threats that come from the literal depths of hell.

They either rise above them or die trying. It is what makes them precious. It is what makes them special. That is what makes them… heroes.

And heroes, determine the course of history. They can challenge the power of fate. They can make waves by their very presence. They have the power to make the world… or raze it.

But with power, something more comes to mind.

It is said that a hero is defined by their actions, not the powers they are graced with. Yet, we all wonder what powers a hero has.

So, let us explore the powerset that a certain demigod child of the Olympians (or blessed by them) may have.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Zeus/ Jupiter:

Zeus is the King of Olympus and one of the most powerful divine beings in the Greek world. He is the undisputed lord of the skies and has powers that blow mostgods and godesses out of the water.

He is one of the Big three and has fathered many children over the centuries. In recent times, he has two: Thalia and Jason Grace. A child, bearing his full powers, could be very lethal, and very dangerous. Their powers, if they receive all, will include:

Poseidon/ Neptune

The god of the sea is the most powerful god on the Olympian council, with a vast array of powers, most rather destructive in nature. Poseidon represents the unstoppable power of the sea— its vastness and its limitless power, which he embodies. Most of his children do not receive his full set of abilities, with Percy Jackson being considered a general exception.

These powers are:

Hades/ Pluto:

The third of the Big Three, Hades is the god of the dead, wealth, and the underworld amongst other things. His children are often considered dangerous, and have been on the wrong side of history many times. But when they’re good, they’re a force to be reckoned with. Nico di Angelo and Hazel Levesque are two prominent examples of his demigod children.

Powers include:

Hestia: The goddess of the hearth, home, and family is perhaps the most loved goddess in the entire pantheon, alongside being the eldest Olympian. Though she is a maiden goddess, and has never had demigod children, there are a select few, who are blessed by her.

Hera/Juno: As the goddess of marriage and family, Hera does not have demigod children but can bless individuals with powers reflecting her domains

Demeter/Ceres:

The goddess of agriculture and harvest, Demeter’s children have a natural connection to the earth and its bounty.

Alexander:

The seventh elder Olympian, forgotten by history, was once the most powerful of gods in the divine world. An undisputed warrior, he was the god of time, night, storms, war, swordsmanship, and heroes. Yet, he has only had a handful of demigod children, and even fewer champions. The only one in living memory? Percy Jackson himself, who has Alexander in his head, as his companion.

The full range of his powers include:

Ares/Mars:

The god of war embodies strength, aggression, and battlefield prowess. His children are natural-born warriors with abilities tied to combat and physical endurance.

Athena/Minerva:

Athena is the goddess of wisdom, strategy, and warfare crafts demigod children who excel in intellect and planning.

Artemis/Diana:

The virgin goddess of the hunt and moon does not have children but blesses young women who join her Hunt.

Apollo:

The god of the sun, music, and healing has children with a wide array of artistic and life-giving abilities.

Aphrodite/Venus:

The goddess of love and beauty blesses her many children with charm and charisma.

Hephaestus/Vulcan:

The god of fire and craftsmanship creates children with unmatched ingenuity and resilience.

Hermes/Mercury:

The god of travelers, thieves, and commerce, Hermes’ children are quick, cunning, and resourceful.

Dionysus/Bacchus:

The god of wine and revelry grants his children abilities tied to madness and vitality.

AND... DONE! Hope that clears up a few doubts.

Now, the powers listed are more of a general list, than, let's say, a perfect one. Demigods can inherit varying abilities, sometimes all, sometimes none, sometimes even different in degree of varsatility.

For instance, Poseidon cannot creat shockwaves or level devastating earthquake punches, but Percy found a way to do so. Poseidon's is more like a natural disaster in comparison, as most his powers are. Percy made them more concentrated and arguably, even more lethal.

Not all abilities will be inherited either.

Anyhow, the next update will be for RoLP!
