2024-09-26 06:30:16 +0000 UTCThat one's on me. I straight up thought The Critic had 3 seasons. That's why I thought it went on too long (can confirm it didn't now that I rewatched it). As for the Fugget About It question, I will say that I do like Family Guy. It's just a bit of a slog to watch all the way through (ironic since I did American Dad!, but that was easier to marathon because the transition isn't as rocky towards the newer seasons). And yes, that last line is like in the middle. Both a joke and an actual thing. Got the scan back. Turns out I don't have brain damage, just some swelling. I'm fine now. Excited for that Fugget About It video whenever it drops!

2024-09-25 15:57:04 +0000 UTCthis was a fun and interesting watch! i considered submitting something for this, but felt what i wanted to say wasn't really a "hot take" as much as an opinion i've never seen expressed before (and one that would've been hard to say succinctly). i kinda wish i still did just to hear your thoughts on it, but i guess i can just mention it here in the comment. i wanted to say that in my opinion, i think tuca and bertie is probably the best example of an "adult cartoon" for me, but specifically for the "cartoon" part of it. bojack had this element too, but compared to TaB, was still way more "mundane/grounded"; i just remember watching TaB for the very first time and realizing it gave me a similar feeling to watching a goofy cartoon as a kid. I loved how that show was really solid in its more emotionally mature, sharpely-written moments, but also very willing to go over-the-top with the visuals and leaned into cartoon logic. it makes me wish that more adult animation was willing to get silly and creative, because i think audiences are definitely willing to play along with absurd concepts if they're done well enough, and it doesn't have to detract from more intense or serious things as well. a balance can be struck, and imo tuca and bertie really showcases that!
